Project Overview
The voice auditions are over, and the characters have been cast! Thank you SO SO much everyone for taking time out of your day to audition for my project, it means the absolute world to me, and you are all so talented. I was nervous to open a casting call because I was scared nobody would be interested, so I am incredibly grateful (and a little overwhelmed haha but in a good way) that we got to over 1000 auditions. Regardless of who was picked, I hope this casting call was tons of fun and super fulfilling. I will be reaching out to the selected voice actors hopefully within the day. If I cannot find your email, I will reach out through CCC message or Discord.
The bread and butter of communication will be done over email. I hope that’s OK with everyone. (I would’ve asked for an email to be provided initially, but it seems they don’t work on CCC..?)
Just because you weren’t picked, by the way, doesn’t mean your talent wasn’t greatly appreciated. I have no idea what business you professional bunch have with a little project like mine… haha I am very honoured. Again, thank you to everyone!!! It was tons of fun listening to all of the auditions, I was squealing with excitement at everyone’s interpretations of the characters, it was so cool to see my cast come to life. Hi everyone! Danganronpa: Orion’s Belt is a non profit, fan made fully edited visual novel YouTube series inspired by danganronpa.
I am a 17 year old solo creator who uses Blender and After Effects to create a 2D/3D environment. I am looking to have a full cast of voice actors by the time I am working on chapter 1, which is underway soon! If you’d like to see my work, please click on the YouTube video and follow my channel. There is about an hour and a half of main story content so far, though, I plan to improve the UI and overall quality for chapter 1 as I’ve grown more comfortable with my programs. If you’d like to see all the characters in action, the video provided is a 7 minute class trial demo where (almost) everyone gets a word in. (It is not a final product. Just something I crammed into fruition one night hahaha.)
If you are worried about the legitimacy of this project flourishing, I think you can put your faith in me. Considering I am only one person, I don’t need to worry about team dynamics. Plus, I’ve been working on this project for over 2 years, and inspiration has yet to die out!
The overall plot and death order is set in stone and won’t be affected by the casting call. Being enlisted as a voice actor entails short voice lines, character cut ins, and fully voiced trial lines.
I won’t be interfering with the auditions or reaching out to anybody in any way until the deadline is reached to keep things fair. But just know I’m listening and cheering you on!!! 😎

Requirements:
Please be 16+
Please have a good mic quality — if you’re not sure about this one, audition anyway! I’m not super picky, plus, you have nothing to lose!
Please be prepared to stick with me for a long time. I’m sure you know how it is— making a fangan takes quite a while!
As a general rule, please be comfortable with delivering emotional lines. Not only via the typical danganronpa vibe, screaming, crying, etc, but my story is a heavy one that delves into the human experience and the search for purpose. I want to explore abstract, hard-to-explain emotions rather than utilizing dramatization. Even if not due to the trials, pretty much every character gets their “moment”— be ready to really connect with your role!!!

Matthew is a young prodigy, one who’s always been interested in problem solving and academics. He leans toward the quieter side, his attempted demeanour being professional and self sufficient. Despite this, he is rather insecure, and can be a bit awkward and ramble-y in social settings. He’s quite the scaredy cat.
Despite his trepidations and self doubt, Matthew recognizes where he prospers, and wants to utilize his strong points to help make a positive shift in people’s lives. If he knows he’s helped just one person, he’d feel fulfilled.
Preferably a higher pitched voice.

(Quiet, Unsure) I don’t think it’s anything to do with you, Anita. I suppose a lot of us are more academically oriented rather than socializing experts.

Anita has a peppy, typical 2000’s American teenage girl accent. She’s enthusiastic at times, yet pouty and playful at others. She is overall a friendly presence, and has a well rounded personality. Voice ranges from loud and friendly to warm and soothing.

(Girly, squeel-ish) Oh my gosh, Matthew, he is, like, the cutest most talented drummer ever!!

A loyal people advocate and party animal, Cynthia is a hardcore rebellion. She’s loud, expressive, and despite her strong reactions, she isn’t mean— she is just *very* passionate. A self proclaimed hater of elitists, Cynthia is an artist who uses her skill and prowess to create “personas” for those in her so-called “group”, who, by the sounds of it, commit (moral?) illegal activity. Preferably a cutesy voice with a lot of emotional range to juxtapose her attitude.

(Angry, Aggressive) GET YOUR HAIR OUTTA YOUR EYES, BOY! CAN’T EVEN LOOK US IN THE EYE, ACTING LIKE A DAMN PRICK NOW THAT YOU’RE NOT BEHIND A COMPUTER SCREEN, YEAH?
(Pumped up about her practice) Basically I meet with others who crave change, who itch for an enticing, exciting future, and what do we do? We get off our asses and make it happen!

A fan of all retro video games and a figure collector of 16 different anime franchises, TJ is a proud shut in, streaming every evening for all of the other shut ins of the world. His limited social skills often feel like a leg down for him as he tends to say the wrong things at the wrong time. He is enthusiastic, constantly boasting about things that are ”like, totally awesome”! But he can also be quite mopey, whiney, and self deprecative at times. Preferably a voice that can deliver comedic lines well.

A science driven nihilist, Hadley is a girl who tends to negate herself with being more logically aware than others. Ms. Winters finds fascination with all things relating to the universes natural woven patterns. Fascination may not come with a positive connotation, though; Hadley tends to stress herself with being so curious, and is quite exhausted with constantly feeling above and more aware than her peers. She often seems uninterested due to her quiet and monotonous tone, and some take her characteristics as demeaning, but it isn’t intentional— she is just easily under-stimulated by the average conversation.
Preferably a softer voice that doesn’t show a lot of emotion.

(Soft, shy) A..Ahem.. well.. I suppose I shouldn’t deploy such personal matters onto a man I’ve only just met.
(Logical) Either way, as ridiculous as I find this to be.. we need to treat our scene like a genuine mystery. With clues, evidence, alibis…
nah - me - no - mer - ah
Despite her title, Nami insists that her talent is anything but enthusiasm. Notably the most terrified of all things to do with death and harm, she’s constantly acting skittish and almost annoyed by the presence of others. She’s not necessarily opposed to being around the other students, but her openness on anything to do with herself or her personal life is very limited, and her tendency to say gruesome and unsavoury things at the wrong time causes people to shy away from her. Think “Toko Fukawa” in terms of line delivery.

(Frantic, heartbroken) Yes, it’s so horrible! The conspicuous rates of homicide nowadays! People are capable of terrible, gruesome things!
(In love, infatuated) Yeah… he says what’s on his mind.. that kind of person is always the most predictable…
sue - she - ma - pack - in
Tsushima is a very dramatic and grandiose individual, constantly spouting plenty of stories from his life before Hope’s Peak. Even at such a young age, he seems to have done it all, somehow resulting in him becoming a highly wanted criminal in just about every country. Everything he says is inflated to 1000%— think dramatic Disney villain.

(Assertive, trying to intimidate) I demand you end this nonsense, or I will have no choice but to subject you to my wrath!
(Introducing himself, smug) Indubitably. Relish in the implications and hold your gawks, as again, I am not here to prove myself to you all.
roar - shack
Rorschach is an incredibly mischievous, unserious, nimble little man. Being referred to as the Ultimate Machiavellian by the others, he seems to have little remorse. Rorschach claims to rob people to make a living, often boasting about his treasures. Despite his often stress inducing presence, even he has limits— he likes to play off of people’s weaknesses for jokes and pranks, but he’d never take things too far.
I’m very open in terms of his voice. Whether it’s high pitched or very deep— anything could work!

(Jingle, playful) my name's Rorschach cuz a birthmark on my back! I don’t like Tsushima’s face so I’m going to kick him in the face!
(Chasing students with sword, mocking) What wrath? You’ve lost your only means of combat! Mwahahaha!
(Surprised, bewildered) No! What the heck does that mean? I’m obviously pulling your leg!
grant - mitch - uhl
A ex popular high school kid, Grant seems to still hold that same typical teenage bully attitude and obnoxious pep-rally enthusiasm. Grant was led to thrive in an environment with others, with teamwork, and constant mental stimulation. He hates feeling bored, and he hates being alone. Despite his inherently nasty attitude, he seems to harbour a special hatred for those he’s envious of. Grant can come off as charming and a natural leader when speaking with a group, but one-on-one, he is typically a nightmare. Overall, a vulgar man with an attitude.

(Caught off guard, surprisingly charming) I—I mean… Ahem. Hey girl. So… what’s your name?
sung - jee - young
Ji-Young is growing gray hairs at just 19 years old— and being around a plethora of wild talents and personalities certainly isn’t helping. Ji-Young can’t stand when the front wheel is given to anybody but herself, and she prioritizes responsibility above all. She is constantly seen nagging at the others for their bad habits, and frantically trying to clean up the (literal and metaphorical) messes they make. When she’s not seen being a bossy leader, she’s typically working on her trinkets and knickknacks, as she doesn’t understand what it’s like to relax.
Preferably a more tomboy-ish voice.

(Forced smile, begrudgingly introducing herself) I’m Seong Ji-Young, I’m the ultimate engineer. It’s really a pleasure to meet you, and I hope we can get along.
(Exhausted) Ugghhhh— I was doing just fine in my workshop! Why did I even show up to this thing anyway?
(Frustrated, asserting authority) You’re all just… a bunch of deadbeats! Seriously, who raised you?!
marco - ner - al (as in the name “Al”) - ah
A 21 year old self proclaimed staple of the chess channel, Marco is a master at his practice. Being more of an old school gentleman type after being raised by his grandparents, he seems to value pushing men to be the best that they can be. Exuding a confident attitude with slight arrogant undertones, Marco will never miss a chance to boast about his fashion or wealth— humbly, of course. Though, despite his accomplishments, he seems particularly sensitive when he’s being compared to the more renowned students.

(Reassuring, interested) How intriguing! Only one word in, and I can see you seem unsure of yourself. Don’t worry, my friend. It’s easy to get lost in a crowd like this, especially under the pressure to stand out amidst so many talented students.
(Subtly cocky) I bet you are wondering.. who is this handsome man? Who is this gorgeous, sparkling handsome man in front of me? What’s his name? Oh, what's his name? How I’d love to get to know him.
(Charming) As expected; a beautiful name fitting for a beautiful young lady.
mee - na - men - doh - zuh
A girl of very few words. Mina seems to refuse to open up about herself, but she grants the privilege of knowing her name onto a lucky few. The others can assume she has a talent, but it’s only speculation.
Need to deliver emotional lines well.

Jose - eye - ah - ahn - jeh - lee - co
A chronic people pleaser, Josiah is unbearably shy, always feeling guilty and apologizing for himself. Despite his size and his love for working out, he tries to make himself as small as possible in social situations. Despite running a very popular flower business under his name, Josiah likes to remain anonymous. A very soft, guilt ridden tone.

(Quiet, attempted confidence through a slightly shaky voice) Um, my name is Josiah, I like flowers, and selling them. Do you guys like flowers? Because I do. Wait, I said that already! Ahhh, kill me…
(Sad, to reassuring) Are you making fun of me…? I—It’s okay if you are! I understand, I really do!!
(Soft, appreciative) Thanks guys. For.. not judging me. That.. means more than you’ll ever know.
sash - ah - fox
A frequent competitor in a multitude of sporting events, most recently starring on a water-sports themed, villa-based reality TV show. Despite her undeniable skill, her appearance of fame seems to be more centered around her beauty and connections rather than her talent.
Sasha is, for a lack of a better title, an unaware spoiled nepo baby. As her father was a famous actor, she was born into a life of love and attention, and doesn’t seem to know what struggle looks like. She’s kind and considerate, but almost too much so— her laidback nature causes her to seem almost dismissive and patronizing. Very much a go with the flow, “appreciate what you have and never complain” kind of gal.

(Ditzy, dismissive) Oh, you mean like, poverty? I don’t really believe in stuff like that… I think with enough motivation and perseverance, any hole is possible to climb out of.
(Meeting someone new, disbelief) Yeah, my dads a pretty big deal. You think he’s shady..?
We all need to learn to relax every once in a while~! I can just picture it, going back to that beach, sipping on a cool raspberry margarita… h—hypothetically, of course! Once I’m of age!
fee - licks - fay
An ex teen heartthrob who went rogue after a falling out with his band. Attempting to come back as a solo career, Felix, despite only being 19 years old, acts like a washed up celebrity. In true stoner fashion, he is always on about big words he doesn’t understand and “deep” poems he finds on the internet. A very calm, “chiiiillllll” voice. He is French-Canadian, so you may need to be able to say the occasional line in French. (You do not need to be fluent or anything.)

(Referring to his earrings) Oh, these things..? Yeah, got them at a craft store.. they’re organic. Been feeling.. unusually.. in tune with the Earth.. since I put them in.
clair - ah - sack - oh
Clair seems to be constantly excited with her soon-to-be Ultimate title as an astrologist, despite refusing to elaborate on what such a talent would even entail. Clair seems to radiate almost a sickeningly positive energy. A lover of all things soft, cutesy, fuzzy and warm, her demeanour is almost reminiscent of a child who’s easily excited, has a one dimensional view of the world around them, and refuses to succumb to the horrors.
Preferably a very feminine, child-like voice.

(Caring, Sweet) Aww, he’s like a daddy caring for his baby! That’s so super duper sweet, right, guys?
(Anxious, upset) N-No! He doesn’t even know what that means, he’s only little, don’t say that…
In contrast to the frivolous, chaotic authority of Junior, Papa Odin is calm, methodical, and wise. He is an old scraggly Persian cat, and despite his role in the killing game, seems to be a neutral mediator who isn’t present all too often. He would likely be considered a soothing presence if it weren’t for the reality of the cruel game he is enforcing. Preferably a deep, elderly voice to juxtapose Junior.

(Narrating the trial) Pay him no mind. I am the only available mediator to convey what you are all here to discuss today. During the trial, you will present your arguments for who the culprit is, and vote for “whodunnit”.
(Reassuring the students) I know this isn’t ideal… but it is necessary. I hope you will all grow accustomed to the living space we’ve provided.
Junior is a small baby kitten, one whose attitude reflects that of a toddler who can’t differentiate right and wrong. Allegedly being “born yesterday” during the first day of the killing game, Junior doesn’t understand consequences or repercussions. He takes what he wants, does what he wants, and says what he wants.
