Dangan Ronpa: Makai Mountain

Dangan Ronpa: Makai Mountain

Project Overview

Hello everyone, and welcome to Dangan Ronpa: Makai Mountain’s official Casting Call! This is a completely fan made game that I will be making in Ren’Py, and to make the game seem more official, I want to have a voice cast for it! So let’s start by going over the basics

What is DR: Makai Mountain?

As said above, DR:MM is a Fangan Ronpa game that I’m creating. Once it’s finished, I plan to release it for free online (still unsure of where exactly it will be released).

It will follow the standard conventions of a Dangan Ronpa game, with sixteen Super High School Level students being forced into a gruesome killing game. You’ll play as two of these students, Maebara Yuuki and Okunote Muda, as they navigate the horrors of Makai Mountain. When murders occur, it’s up to them to solve the case! Get to know the students during your (Ab)Normal Days, and solve mysteries during Abnormal Days!

Just as the original game is described as psycho-pop and NDRV3 is described as psycho-cool, I came up with a similar aesthetic for this game, which is “psycho-horror”. The locations in this game are strongly inspired by horror movies and games, particularly Until Dawn and Resident Evil 7.

Wait, we play as two students?

You sure do! I really enjoyed both of the potential protagonists I created, and I liked the concept of dual protagonists, so I decided to make both of them the player character! Note that this doesn’t necessarily mean that one of them will die, it just means that you’ll get to see two perspectives on cases!

Will this have everything the main series games do?

Unfortunately, no. Coding something so you can actually have the characters walk around is a bit above my expertise level, especially considering I’ve never done any coding outside of editing tumblr themes before, and certain trial mini-games, like the Panic Talk Action and Hangman’s Gambit, are not really possible to make in Ren'Py, at least as far as I know. So for that reason, they won’t be appearing, but I'm planning to make the trials as engaging and interactive as possible!

So you’re using SHSL instead of Ultimate?

Yep! I’m kind of a Dangan Ronpa purist (read the SomethingAwful translations way back when) and I personally found that calling them “Ultimate” kind of ruins the point of Super High School Level, which is to sound as pretentious and ridiculous as possible. Plus, to me calling someone an “Ultimate” makes it sound like they’re the best at whatever it is they do of anyone, which the game made a point to say isn’t exactly true, they’re just the best at what they do in high school, which is why it’s possible to have repeats of Super High School Levels.

Are you just voice acting the game?

Pretty much, yeah. However, another optional thing I’ll have for the voice actors is the chance to participate in an ask blog, where anyone interested can ask the characters a question, which will be responded to in character!

How much voice acting will this involve?

We’ll be fully voicing any CGs (ex. the morning and evening announcements, shots of special scenes like Naegi running into Maizono in the first game, etc.) as well as the class trials. For the rest of the game, the voice acting will mainly consist of your standard visual novel noises (grunts, sighs, a name or phrase, etc.)

How many chapters will there be?

This game will be just like the main series games as it will consist of a prologue, six chapters, and a brief epilogue!

Will any casting occur before the deadline?

Nope! I personally don’t like it when roles are cast before the deadline, as it makes it so people who might be really good as a character don’t have a chance to be cast. For that reason, we’ll be waiting until the deadline specified to cast anybody!

Can you give me some feedback on my auditions?

Yeah, of course! If you want feedback, send me a message. I’m far from experienced at giving feedback, but if you want some tips on how to do better, I’ll do my best!

If you’re the one casting, how come you’re also auditioning for some characters?

I’m auditioning because I also really enjoy voice acting. I only plan to cast myself if I can’t find anyone for a part I auditioned for by the final deadline, so please don’t feel intimidated! Also, my partner in making this (Lizzie) will be helping t make casting decisions, so it won't be just me deciding on who plays who.

What will the art look like?

Notice how there’s a few images that look really good, and some that look ugly as hell? The pretty ones (done by Lizzie, who’s a wonderful artist) are what the actual sprites will look like.

Here are a few screenshots from the game (note the background shown is not going to be in the final game. This is a placeholder image until we get a background artist)

Are there any rules for this?

Just three of them!

  1. Have a decent quality microphone! It definitely doesn’t need to be professional, just good enough so that it doesn’t sound staticy and so I can clearly hear your voice.

  2. Have a Discord account. This is how we’ll be communicating, and how you’ll be turning your lines in.

  3. Get your lines in on time. I’ll be giving deadlines for lines, so please try to get them in by whatever date is specified

Some last, additional notes!

Don't feel like your audition has to sound exactly like the description I give. If you think you have a better idea of what a character's voice should sound like, go for it! I might really like what you do!

If you want to get to know me and our lead artist a little better, feel free to join our public Discord! I would be happy to answer any questions you may have! Also, you can check out our tumblr!

  • Final Round of Casting

The final round of casting has just ended, and I really want to thank everyone who auditioned. We got a hundred auditions in total, which is absolutely amazing! There were a lot of really good auditions, and it was great to see the turn out for this. Once again, I can't message everyone I cast because Casting Call wants me to Suffer, so here's the list of people I just cast: gargleblaster3000 as Mononezu BlueSpeaks as Yokobue Shizuka and reticentseiko as Hanasaku Nana If you've been cast, send me a friend request on Discord at "i hate rian johnson#9892" Thanks again for all the wonderful auditions!
  • Second Round of Casting Has Been Completed and Final Deadline

Hello again! First, I'd like to thank you all so much for the auditions on this project! All of them have been pretty incredible, and I'm astounded by how talented all of you are. I've just casted Maebara Yuuki, Gekidan Yakurou, Hanasaku Nana, Kintsukuroi Noriko, Megami Kagura, Saisenten Shitai, Shikisai Toryo, and Zetsumei Hibiki. The roles still open are Inoshishi Risu, Nazono Shosetsu, Yokobue Shizuka, and Mononezu, which are open because I'd like to get a few more auditions before casting them. Once we reach the next deadline, that'll be it! Unfortunately, I can't send any private messages because I'm not a paying Casting Call member, so if you've been cast and haven't received an invite from me to this project's private Discord, add me on there! I'm "i hate rian johnson#9892" (the last jedi personally victimized me tbh) Thank you to everyone who's auditioned! You're all wonderful!
  • First Round of Casting and Extended Deadline

Hello everyone! I've gotta say, all of your auditions have been pretty incredible so far! I've just cast the roles of Okunote Muda, Enkai Minato, Onritsu Arata, Shibata Akira, and Shimizu Haruto, but don't be upset if you haven't been cast! There are several people who I'm planning on casting, but I'm torn between two roles that they performed really well on, and others that I just want a few more auditions on so I can be sure that the person I cast is perfect for the role. The deadline has been extended so that more people can audition. If you missed out on a role, feel free to audition for some more characters, or maybe recommend this project to others who might be interested! I know Yokobue could use some love since she currently hasn't gotten any auditions. Thanks for all the wonderful auditions so far! I look forward to hearing more!

Maebara Yuuki
closed

Role assigned to: know-your-paradoxes

(my-bah-rah yoo-key)

Maebara Yuuki is just about as average a girl as you could ever meet. Never standing out, she doesn’t have any particularly impressive talents, however she has been invited to attend Destiny Vale Academy with the title of Super High School Level Good Luck. She doesn’t feel like she belongs with these amazing students, but that won’t stop her from making the best of the new school year and hopefully making some new friends!

Director’s notes

Maebara is similar to Naegi in that she has a strong sense of hope that stays with her throughout the game. She’s the more social and friendly of the two protagonists, though she can be a bit more airheaded than Okunote. She’s actually a bit like both of the Naegis, so she might come off as a generic anime girl, but I can assure you she will be facing many struggles throughout the story (especially since this is a horror inspired game).

Voice

Maebara should have a medium-high to high voice that sounds like your typical anime protagonist. She should be fairly energetic sounding and cheerful, but still capable of doing a lot of emoting. Also, since she’s one of the protagonists, it might take a bit longer for me to cast her and whoever voices her will likely have to do a lot of lines.

  • (friendly) My name is Maebara Yuuki, and I’m just about as normal as they come. But somehow, I’ve been invited to attend the best school in the universe- Destiny Vale Academy.

  • (sincere) If you don’t know you’re talent, that’s fine. We can find out what it is together, okay?

  • (you know the tone) You’ve got that wrong!

Okunote Muda is truly a mystery, with no one having even the slightest idea who she is or why she was invited to attend Destiny Vale Academy, but there has to be some reason she’s here. Few people are able to get close enough to ask her this, however, as she pushes people away with her cynical and abrasive nature. However, with the right treatment (and the right person), it may be possible to get a few answers out of her…

Director’s notes

If I had to compare Okunote to any protagonist, it would have to be Hinata, purely because he’s the more cynical of the ones thus far. Really, she’s more like Kuzuryuu personality-wise, being argumentative and irritable. If you plan to audition for her, you’ll definitely have to be comfortable with a lot of cursing. She’s much more grounded in reality than Maebara is, being well aware of how the world works and smart enough to find out what she needs to. Despite her tough exterior, she is easily flustered.

Voice

Okunote should have a low to medium-low voice that sounds very blunt and rude, and should definitely be capable of yelling because she is Small and Pissed. Just like with Maebara, it may take longer to cast Okunote as she’s the second protagonist, and whoever voices her will have to voice far more lines than other cast members.

  • (blunt/slightly annoyed) Okunote Muda. I don’t remember what my talent is, so don’t even bother asking.

  • (annoyed) I’m gonna stop you right there. Nobody tells me what to do. I’m gonna solve this damn thing myself.

  • (flustered/surprised) O-of course not! It’s not a big deal, okay?

(en-k-eye mee-nah-to)

Enkai Minato is an incredibly talented surfer, able to surf practically any wave with no trouble. She lived by the sea her whole life and hardly ever left it, only getting out of the water to spend time on the gorgeous beach. She’s won numerous surfing competitions and is predicted to be part of the 2020 Japanese Olympic team, sure to bring home the gold in this event’s debut. Her fun loving personality has won her many fans, though some likely for less than pure reasons.

Director’s notes

Enkai is an absolutely sweetheart who loves to have fun, especially out in the waves. She’s a bit of a thrillseeker and over all just a very fun and laidback person. She acts a bit like an older sister to many of the students and cares for all of them deeply, so her voice should be able to express a lot of care for the other students.

Voice

The way I think of Enkai’s voice is very similar in tone and pitch to Yang Xiao Long (Barbara Dunkelman) from RWBY. She should generally sound a bit more relaxed, though, and she has a fairly realist emotional range. If you can get around that, it would be great!

  • (cheerful) Hey, I’m Enkai Minato, the Super High School Level Surfer. I hope we’ll be good friends!

  • (a bit mothering) You’ll have to be careful from now on, okay? It’d suck if you got sick or something.

  • (annoyed) Hey, don’t be a jerk! She’s half frozen to death!

(geh-key-dahn yah-koo-row)

Gekidan Yakurou is the Super High School Level Actor, renown throughout the world for his stunning performances in both movies and plays. He has an incredibly loyal legion of fans who would travel for hours to see him perform and pay whatever cost they must to meet him. However, he is known for being fairly grounded and friendly, with all of his co-stars talking about good experiences they have had with him on set.

Director’s notes

Gekidan is a fairly grounded person who genuinely cares about other people, though he admittedly can be a bit overdramatic at times. He strongly supports his friends and stays determined to survive the killing game with everyone. It also seems like he may have a connection of some kind to Maebara...

Voice

Gekidan should have a medium voice that’s capable of doing a lot of emoting and should be very expressive as he tends to shows his emotions very openly. Thus whoever voices him should have a pretty broad range and be at times capable of sounding incredibly overdramatic.

  • (friendly) Yep, I’m Gekidan Yakurou. It’s always nice to meet a fan.

  • (humbly, trying not to brag) Ah, that’s not to say the others aren’t trying hard enough! There are so many great actors and actresses. I’m honored to be considered at the same level as them.

  • (thoughtfully) I was actually in a movie kind of like this a year ago… (reconsidering what he just said) It probably would be better not to talk about it right now.

(ha-nah-sah-koo na-na)

The Super High School Level Gardner, Hanasaku Nana can supposedly make any plant grow with even the most meager of resources. Her produce is incredibly popular among local restaurants, who always brag about the incredible flavor it has. Despite this popularity, Hanasaku is far more comfortable around plants than people and tends to be afraid of large groups, thus tending to avoid most people.

Director’s notes

Hanasaku is incredibly anxious, similar to Mikan, but without all the sex stuff. She’s far less likely than other characters to talk to people. She’s overall a very straightforward character who is generally very shy and timid.

Voice

Hanasaku should have a very high voice that perpetually sounds nervous and shaky. She tends to stutter a lot and stumble over her words. She speaks fairly quietly, often sounding scared or worried.

  • (nervous/forcing the words out) I-I’m Ha-Hanasaku Nana. It’s… it’s very nice to m-meet you!

  • (terrified/on the verge of tears) W-we… we have to kill each other? P-please! I... I don’t w-want to die!

  • (starts off a little nervous, but grows a little more confident as she speaks) Th-then I would recommend a little herb garden. They’re small, but y-you can use them in cooking and it’ll b-brighten up your desk. But a, um, succulent garden would also be n-nice. I think they’re v-very pretty.

(ee-no-shee-shee ree-soo)

Inoshishi Risu is the Super High School Level Zoologist, a man who has had an intense love of animals ever since he was a child. He works at a small zoo in Tokyo where he studies and cares for the animals there. He wants to share his love of animals with all of his classmates. His endless enthusiasm may be a refreshing sight for some, but others may find it to be annoying and ignorant, especially given the situation.

Director’s notes

Inoshishi is a ray of sunshine in a sea of darkness. He’s by far the most optimistic of the students, with nothing shaking his hope and belief in other people.

Voice

Inoshishi’s voice should be similar to Morgana (Christina Vee) from Persona 5, so he could easily be voiced by a boy or a girl. His voice should be a bit childish sounding and should pretty much be perpetually enthusiastic.

  • (about to explode with excitement) Goood morning~! I’m Inoshishi Risu, and it is grrreat to meet you!

  • (chastising) Okunote-chan, that’s not a very nice thing to say! We should all be friends, don’t you think?

  • (placating, then cheerful) Now everyone, I know that this is a wacky situation we’ve gotten into, but let’s all be nice. After all, this weather is no good for travel, so we might be stuck here for a while!

(keen-tsu-koo-roy no-ree-ko)

Kintsukuroi is the Super High School Level Attorney, acting generally as a defense attorney, though occasionally serving as a prosecutor. She has a strong sense of justice and is responsible for saving many innocents as well as ensuring that dangerous criminals go to jail where they belong. People often make “justice is blind” references when talking to her, and in this case, it certainly would be true, though she does tire of hearing it.

Director’s notes

Kintsukuroi is a bit like Kirigiri, having a lot of experience that is helpful throughout the game, though she is slightly hindered by her blindness. However, she doesn’t view her blindness as an issue as much as it’s a part of life, and though she may appear to be calm and collected, she has a lot of emotional issues.

Voice

Kintsukuroi should have a medium to medium low voice that is very smooth and gentle sounding. She doesn’t often openly express her emotions, but her voice should be capable of expressing a lot of emotion when necessary, as well as handle large words.

  • (surprised, then gentle) Ah! I’m sorry, I didn’t notice you. My name is Kintsukuroi Noriko. If you have any legal questions, please ask me.

  • (slight smile) Yes, the jokes do grow boring after a while. It would be nice if they could come up with something new.

  • (slowly/unsure) I’m not sure that my experiences will truly be of use here. This type of court will be far different than what I’m accustomed to.

The Super High School Level Miko (pronounced mee-co), Megami is a beautiful young woman with a wisdom far beyond her years. She works at the Hakone Shrine, ensuring that it is in excellent condition, reading fortunes, and performing the kagura dance. She’s far closer to a traditional miko than most modern ones, being deeply spiritual and acting as an envoy to the spirits of the deceased, speaking their will, and some even claim that she’s a vessel of the gods.

Director’s notes

Megami is an emotional center of the group, being supportive of her classmates and believing in all of them and their ability to get along. Over time, this belief is tested, but she refuses to crumble to the pressures of despair.

Voice

Megami should have a medium-high to high voice that sounds very light and airy, but is still capable of expressing a lot of emotion. She should sound a bit motherly and incredibly wise, though at times a bit distant.

  • (kind) I am Megami Kagura, the Super High School Level Miko.

  • (reassuring) Don’t worry, everyone. I’m sure that we will all make it out of this horrible situation together.

  • (softly) Sometimes people just want to be liked in return.

(nah-zoh-no show-set-tsoo)

The Super High School Level Mystery Novelist, Nazono Shosetsu is just as enigmatic as many of the characters he writes about. He’s, for the most part, a shut-in, being home schooled by his detective mother, and he’s most renown for his novel The Kamiya Files, a thrilling mystery novel that stumped even the greatest detectives until the stunning reveal at the end, though his novel Midnight City is known for... other reasons.

Director’s notes

Nazono is a very quiet person who tends to be a bit rude at times, though mainly because of his lack of social experience. He’s incredibly blunt, but can be nice when he wants, though it’s a little bit awkward. Oh yeah, and Midnight City is famous for its incredibly smutty scenes, so take that as you will.

Voice

Nazono should have a medium-low voice that sounds very serious and blunt, but it should also be capable of sounding awkward and flustered. He often says things that sound cruel, but he’s not really aware of it, so whoever voices him should be able to convey a certain degree of ignorance to social norms in their performance.

  • (informative) I am Nazono Shosetsu. I write mystery novels.

  • (passionate) It’s a vast oversimplification of any work to berate it for sexual content. Don’t you agree? Sex is a perfectly natural thing, and people’s aversion to it simply shows that they’re too immature to handle it.

  • (condescending) You may not know this, but I write mystery novels. It is important that I know everything I can about murder.

Onritsu Arata is the life of every party, with his title of Super High School Level DJ being far from inaccurate. He’s the definition of a good time, being invited to countless parties with everyone wanting to hear his remixes. He’s so popular, that one of his remixes has even appeared in a movie! He’s also begun to take the first steps into original music, specializing mostly in dubstep, though he has released a few witch house songs.

Director’s notes

Onritsu is an overly excitable person, who can be a bit confrontational. He’s an incredibly cheerful person, but he’s also quite the party animal. He’s known for being a problem child, often getting noise complaints for how wild his parties can get and nearly setting an entire building on fire during a particular rager.

Voice

For Onritsu’s voice, I want it to sound something like Ryuji Sakamoto (Max Mittelman) from Persona 5. So his voice should be medium-low and kind of rough sounding, being incredibly blunt and rather casual in tone.

  • (pumped) Sup! I’m Onritsu Arata! I’ll be throwing a bitchin’ party later, once we get the lights in this thing up!

  • (angry) Yo, the fuck are you saying, rat? We ain’t gonna kill each other!

  • (objecting, upset) Ugh, a few noise complaints, and suddenly you’re “a danger to yourself and others” and “liable to get arrested”. It’s not like I’m drinkin’ or anything!

Known throughout the fashion world, Saisenten Shitai is the Super High School Level Fashion Designer. She’s an expert at all things fashion, being a master of various different stitches and making complex designs that have appeared on the runway. She’s got an incredibly popular fashion blog, where she shows off her new designs, and she’s designed the outfits of several celebrities on the red carpet, being in high demand among the rich and famous.

Director’s notes

Saisenten is a bit of your stereotypical valley girl, being a bit of an airhead for everything but fashion. She’s also quite the flirt, being described as nothing but a bimbo by some. She can seem a bit vain, but she does ultimately have a goodheart. She does have a fairly good eye, though, noticing even the littlest of details because of her skill as a seamstress.

Voice

Saisenten should have a medium high voice that’s fun and flirty sounding, with a bit of a valley girl tone to it. She should, however, be capable of expressing a lot of emotions as she’s one of the more emotional members of the cast.

  • (flirty) Hey there, gorgeous. I’m Saisenten Shitai, and it’s so nice to meet you.

  • (cheerful, encouraging) Like, I’m super good at coordinating outfits! But remember, the key to looking good is confidence!

Though you may expect a loud, explosive personality from someone who has the title of Super High School Level Pyrotechnic, Shibata Akira is a rather subdued person. He’s made hundreds of stunning fireworks displays, even having prepared firework shows for popular theme parks. He’s got the know how and ability to make things go “boom” in a beautiful way, and he loves to make displays to delight all who see them.

Director’s notes

Here we have our big person with a heart of gold for the game, with Shibata being ripped af but also a total sweetheart, which isn’t exactly the safest things to be in this series, but don’t go counting him out- Shibata’s quite the survivor. He’s a little bit awkward around most people, and he’s not very excitable, especially when compared to some of the other students.

Voice

Shibata should have a low voice that’s raspy from a lot of time spent around smoke and explosions. His hearing is also fairly poor for the same reason, so he tends to talk a little bit louder than most characters. However, it’s very important that he not sound intimidating, more friendly than anything.

  • (friendly) Hey there! I am Shibata Akira! It’s very nice to meet you!

  • (wistful, disappointed) People always think that fire is dangerous and destructive because they forget that it provides warmth and safety.

  • (embarrassed) Ah! Am I talking too loudly? I’m so sorry! Please forgive me, it’s hard for me to judge the volume of my own voice. I’m so sorry, Maebara-san! I’ll try to speak quieter.

Shikisai Toryo is the Super High School Level Graffiti Artist, known mostly by his tag: Omega. He’s known for his rebellious and generally anti-government attitudes, with many of his pieces being biting social commentaries. There have been several attempts to arrest him for defacing public property, but none have been successful thus far. He’s hated by the law, but loved by the people, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Director’s notes

Shikisai is kinda an asshole. I love him, but he’s an asshole. He’s not exactly friendly with the other students, and he really would have no qualms about killing someone to get out. He’s antisocial and rebellious, not caring about anyone or anything.

Voice

Shikisai should have a medium-low to low voice that sounds disillusioned with everything. He doesn’t have an overly emotional voice, generally sounding sarcastic and unimpressed with everyone and everything.

  • (annoyed) Whatever. I’m Shikisai Toryo, or Omega. I do graffiti and shit.

  • (dismissive) Yeah, it means I’m not interested in you. Besides, it’s not like we can talk about jackshit if you don’t know anything about my art.

Shimizu Haruto has been accepted to Hope’s Peak Academy as the Super High School Level Barista, being beloved by anyone who visits his cafe for his delicious brews and good listening. He’s got a soothing charm to him, making him someone that’s likable to even the most rude and apathetic of people. He’s generally a caring person who believes in the good of humanity. Too bad there isn’t much of that here.

Director’s notes

Shimizu is definitely the most grounded of the students, being capable of staying calm for the sake of the group. He’s a generally soothing person to be around, caring deeply for all of the students and wanting to ensure that everyone gets out safe and happily.

Voice

Shimizu should have a medium voice that’s smooth and pleasant to listen to, sounding kind and caring. He should sound empathetic and easy to talk to and he generally has a fairly realistic emotional range.

  • (gently) It’s nice to meet you. I’m Shimizu Haruto, the Super High School Level Barista. I hope that we get along.

  • (reassuring, kind) There’s nothing wrong with that. Some blends can be really difficult to stomach without some sweetener, and it’s rare to find someone who actually likes black coffee.

  • (calming, trying to get everyone to work together) Even if someone is planning to kill, we need to do something other than stand around, waiting for death. We have to work together. After all, if we’re working as a team, we can find a way for everyone to make it out of this without anyone getting hurt.

Yokobue Shizuka is an award winning flautist, with her incredible skill with a flute being enough to bring people to tears. She specializes in classical music, generally coming off as the stereotypical classical musician, refined and sophisticated. She’s elegant and many people find her to be beautiful, whole fan blogs being set up to talk about her and her music. She’s played in hundreds of orchestras as well as several solo concerts.

Director’s notes

Yokobue is not a very emotional person, rarely being upset and keeping her cool for as long as she can. However, when she does get upset, she gets very upset, with a lot of crying and some screaming, so whoever voices her will have to be able to handle her at both of these extremes.

Voice

I imagine Yokobue’s voice sounding a lot like Jaehee Kang (Jeong Hwa Yang) from Mystic Messenger. Her voice should thus be a medium voice that sounds rather sophisticated. Again, she’s not a very emotional person, so she should sound fairly calm.

  • (calmly) Hello. Lovely to meet you. My name is Yokobue Shizuka, and I am the Super High School level Flautist.

  • (wistfully, with a sigh) Regretfully, most recordings don’t quite do my performances justice. The only way you can truly experience music is live.

(zet-soo-may hee-be-key)

Zetsumei Hibiki is the Super High School Level Sniper, rumored to be able to hit anything from any distance. He’s killed five men with a single bullet, and some say he doesn’t even need to aim to get a headshot. He’s got a higher kill record than many soldiers, and how he chooses his targets appears to be completely random, with some claiming he’s a serial killer. He, however, would object to this, saying that’s it’s just business and nothing personal.

Director’s notes

Zetsumei is a memelord. He seems like he’d be intimidating, but he’s really not. He’s a pretty chill guy who seems to be easily bored by everything but guns and video games.

Voice

Zetsumei should have a medium-low voice that should sound fairly monotone and deadpan. He generally speaks with a casual and laidback tone, never sounding overly worked up about anything. He tends to repeat himself a bit when talking, fumbling over words a lot, and he a pronounced stutter.

  • (bored) Yo, I’m Zetsumei Hibiki. I shoot-I shoot shit and stuff.

  • (casual) Eh, I don't have any reason to. It’s-it’s-it’s not like I’ve got anything to go back to, so I-I don't really care.

  • (excited) Look at how nice this gun is! Damn, I mean- I mean this thing is about thirty-six years old, but it’s still in great condition. God, I wanna shoot shit with that.

(mon-oh-neh-zoo)

The mysterious stuffed animal that claims to be the chaperone for this trip to Makai Mountain, Mononezu is a complete mystery. No one knows if he’s a robot, toy, or what, but it is known that he is incredibly dangerous. He may look cute and cuddly, but he can be a definite threat when he wants to. Don’t let your guard down.

Director’s notes

Considering Mononezu is the mascot of this game, he is one of the most important characters, appearing through the entire game. He’s much like Monokuma in personality, though there’s more of a subtle cunning to him than Monokuma.

Voice

Mononezu’s voice should sound cartoony, almost like a character from a children’s cartoon, but also be capable of sounding deathly serious and downright dangerous. His voice can be done by anyone, regardless of gender.

  • (cheerful) Good morning students! I am your chaperone, Mononezu!

  • (annoyed) Hey! Show your chaperone some respect! If you children are naughty, you’ll be punished severely!

  • (threatening) Of course… there is one way out. Do you want to know what it is?
