At it’s core, Celestial Dance is an Otome life sim with visual novel elements. The story spans 20 years of your hero’s life as you create them to be the way you want them to be, from appearance down to the specifics of their personality, foods they like, fanbases they’re apart of. In Chapter 1, you begin as an eight year old child moving to the town for the first time. By the end of the game, you would have been able to fall in love, follow the route of the love interest of your choosing and settle down with them

So I wanted to talk a bit about the demo and the reason we re-opened auditions.
Re-opened Auditions:
We've always been a bit picky about who we choose to voice our characters, and we haven't quite found what we wanted for the ones we re-opened. If you're someone who auditioned and wants to know why we didn't choose you, please feel free to contact us and try again with the feedback.

Demo:
Whether you're looking to be part of CD or just looking to play, the game's demo will be released in a few weeks. We're heading into a playtest in around a week or so then we'll be releasing it for early access players. You're welcome to sign up to recieve the game early, but I won't be posting it on here just for reasons.
It'll contain the first week in-game and possibly will be transferrable to the full game depending on how that goes.

We're very happy to say we've casted our next round of characters. Unforutnately, we didn't find the actors we were looking for when it came to certain characters, therefore, we're opening up auditions one last time in hopes to finish off the casting round.
We'd like to welcome a few voice actors to the project, capping off our lead roles for the time being at least. As some of you know, we've been unsteadily casting for almost six years, with little success in keeping our actors, but we've finally gotten a pretty solid cast and this is the final clasp in the chain we hope.

Kore: We haven't been exactly sure what we wanted until recently. We've changed up the lines for her and given a more straightforward description with a picture.
Tao: We've sometimes liked what we heard, but it's either the emotions or the voice that aren't right. Remember, he's a father who likes goofing around. he's the typical 'dad-joke' kind of dad.
Tsuki: Either her voice has been too low for her female voice, or too obvious for the male voice. Remember, both of her characters exist in the game, but the player should not know they're one in the same.
Milky: we need some more sharper voices for Milky. Everyone is pretty soft and sweet, but we need an edgier voice for her.
Nagisa: A character we've needed for a while, we're posting her because we've decided the voice is important.
Lumi: A re-cast main character. Singing role.

I wanted to address a few things. We're back after our grandfather was put in the hospital. While we are still waiting for him to get better, we need to get this deadline in gear. We wanted to address some things I.e. the demo and new characters for audition and just clear up some stuff!
So, what is this game and who are you?
Well, We have to start somewhere. If you don't know me from the mass amounts of forum posts on other VA sites oops, my name is Chey and I'm the 21 year old game dev from Canada. I've been making CD for about eight years so far because I had to start from scratch and redo everything in the last year because I was an ignorant kid before and we're nearing our first release finally.
Celestial Dance is an otome game that follows the life of you, starting from eight years old and going through five stages of your life. While it is mainly aimed at people who like guys, the game features one female love interest and more to be released after the game's five chapters have been released.
The game's romance is central on being healthy, as you are made to befriend the characters before romancing. The characters are complexly written, with relationships and internal struggles and triumphs written in to every life stage. They are dynamic and ever-growing.
CD is inspired by a mix of Harvest moon and Animal Crossing, written over five stages of my life (Childhood- 12, Pre-teen 13, Teen 14-17, Young adult 18-20, Adult 21+) and inspired by real people and experiences. It can be as light hearted as catching butterflies and going trick or treating, or as in-depth as gender identity and relationships.
With a linear story, open but still structured feel as well as the many activities around town day-by-day, Celestial Dance is yours to play how you wish to play and no two playthroughs are the same.

(Not-so-fresh) Newly Opened Roles
Sadly, with time we lose VAs. it's a matter of life- we've been in this for years and it's always happened. Now we hope to finish our cast but we'll have to see how things hold up.
Gale:
One of the larger characters put up for grabs, Gale's VA disappeared a few months ago (Name hidden for various reasons). He's known as the most cursed character, having gone through 7-8 different VAs, all of them losing contact.
Most common problems: Typically, rejection has to do with the emotions of the character
Kyo:
We're still trying to revamp his character, but we're sticking to what we have for now, I guess?
Most common problems:... TBH we don't even know what we want for his character anymore
Tsuki:
She has never had a VA. Never. She's actually replacing an older character and we haven't found a voice that matches what we have in mind yet.

Most common problems: Usually the voice is the issue with casting.
Seraphina:
She's like borderline angel, this one and it should be reflected in her voice. She's been through, like, 4 voice actors though.
Kore:
Another lovely ray of sunshine, 4 voice actors later she still sits in the game unvoiced.
Agate:
Again, another VA dropped out- care to give her a shot? Her voice should be something comparable to honey or some other weird similie.
The Demo: Details
The demo is coming up soon! It will feature a week of Chapter 1 and will be there for the players' pleasure until we can get rolling on the full chapter. We're hoping to have chapter 1 characters fully voiced by then but we'll see?
The demo will be sent out for beta then given to priority followers. We then will give it to early access sign up members, a form which you can find by clicking here.
Volunteering: Writing
While we're not looking for artists or anything else at this time, we encourage the submissions for writing at any time.
There are several branches of writing you can apply for. Please note that your work may be altered to unify writing and maintain character voice.
Please note that a good portion of the game that we're working on has already been written.
Writing: Scenarios
We're currently looking for Scenario writers a lot! These are the ones that think up and write a paragraph describing a cutscene that appears at random. You'll be given the characters, guidelines and other things- you just have to come up with a creative scenario that happens to those characters.
Writing: Dialogue
This is the more difficult part of writing. This is where you write a bunch of dialogue sets for a character / some characters that will be used as the hero interacts. The difficulty is that the hero cannot reply aside from in multiple choice answer on occasion.
i.e.
Max: "Hey, did you know that the colour was named after the fruit?"
The hero cannot reply, but the character is talking to him. Pretty straight forward. This can be comedic, romantic, somber or thoughtful- it all depends on what you feel like writing for!
Writing: Scenes
You're given a scenario, characters, location and other details and you'll have to write a screen-play style script for that scene. We're looking for comedic writers at the moment, but some somber scenes are available. If you're up for more risque dialogue, or want something more obscure, let me know and I'll send off some more options.
Info:
Personality: Kore is sweet, sickeningly sweet at times. She was in a car crash shortly after her term in the military, losing her arm in the process. While her arm hinders her in some ways, she remains optimistic, noting she’s still alive by miraculous standards.She runs her shop with her daughter, and proves quite single minded at times, especially arguing with her daughter.
She’s the first NPCs the player meets in the game outside of a cutscene.
She sounds rather unrealistic and rather childish at times.

Notes: One of her signature things to do is her aggressive kissy face. This is where her lips pucker and the background has a repeated “Chu” in Japanese Hiragana (Araysia uses a lot of Chinese, Japanese, Swiss and French influence).

“Welcome, Welcome, WELCOME sweetness! Come to buy in a jiff? just grab your items and let’s get to it!”
[Cheesy story] “I hope the sugar fairy is real. My mom always told me that if I was a good girl, the sugar fairy would grant all my cookie wishes. One day, I wished really hard and I found the cookie I wished for, and attached to it was some kid. The sugar fairy gave me something sweeter than candy, and that was a new friend~” [grumbling] “And [Name] never did share that cookie…”
[Like a machine gun i.e. “pew pew”] “Chuu! Chuu! Chuu! Chuu! Chuu! Chuu! Chuu!” (Have fun with this line. It’d be on loop during the aggressive kissy face. Chuu is “Kiss’ in Japanese, and it’s what we use to signify a kiss in sound effects.)

Personality: Winter appears to be a rather air-headed character, often being self-concerned and obnoxious. In her twisted alternate demeanor, Winter is conniving and cares for no one apart from herself. She is incredibly central for a plot arc, and the perfect voice is needed.
Line Count: Medium-light (But seen in many parts of the game.)
Warning: Please note this character is implied to be bisexual. You will be sworn to secrecy about a game secret as well, as you will be one of the few voice actors to know about it.

Kyo seems shy and reserved, often flustered easily around certain people (namely women.) He speaks Japanese, which is important in his personality. He only speaks short phrases of Japanese when he’s nervous, often saying sweet or flattering things in his shyness, though seldom understood. He usually speaks English around his friends, where he’s a bit looser and laid back, but still innocent in his humour and thoughts. He’s Tyrone/Taka’s cousin and best friends with several of the town’s people. .w
He should not be stuttery in his delivery, unless told- when he cannot get anything out other than random sounds.
Warnings:
He touches primarily on the loss of childhood and moving to adulthood. You have to be able to speak basic Japanese, though it is alright if you aren’t natively from there/ don’t have the perfect accent. You MUST be able to have an audible difference between ‘tsu’ and ‘su’.

Tomo-chan’s real name is NOT Tomo-chan, but you don’t actually get to know their name until later in the game, and at that time, he is no longer voiced. Tomo-chan is what the hero calls him after learning about the honorific ‘chan’ and the word ‘tomodachi’. It’s not meant to be correct, just a nickname.

When speaking to the hero, she acts sweet and friendly but she is very back-stabbing and spiteful in her own way while still sounding sweet. Unlike Tsuki, Lumi isn’t overtly rude. In one particular scene Lumi sees the hero with their crush and she goes out of her way to kiss him to make the hero jealous. She is the ‘friend’ who enjoys drama, wishes to feel superior and hides behind sweet words and a sweeter face.

Raven is the exact polar opposite to Jet. She is Jet’s younger sister, she’s tomboyish and is built in for comedic effect. While Jet goes from Apathetic to overly excited, Raven is overly excited to apathetic. The two mirror each other often. The ongoing joke is she switches personalities to be opposite to Jet. Her voice should be extremely variant between her two sides. Like London, she has one cutscene, some lines and some sounds.

Personality: Dako acts rather ditzy when first introduced. She’s air-headed and doe-like. She is meant to break down the female stereotype of the ‘ditz’ (like all characters break their negative stereotypes, male and female) Dakota acts rather dumb on occasion, having no discretion or culture to her (notably believing patty-cake was a clothing brand) but she is actually incredibly gifted academically, mathematically and science bound. She often relates it back to her interests, such as gardening, make-up or woodcraft, but in general she’s incredibly bright with the goal of being an engineer.

About: From his frigid aura and moody exterior, Lysander has been given the title of ‘ice king’. At first glance, he appears perpetually angry and even frightening with his strong-silent attitude, short-tempered and vulgar demeanor and his tendency to walk away while others are speaking. The truth is, Lysander cares in his own way, always listening to others even if he looks annoyed. His small gestures show how deeply he loves. While his cold attitude is constant through the game he does break a few times with sincere emotions, passion, happiness and even tears on one occasion.
Voice: TV North American accent, male teen - YA. Low and possibly rough, intimidating sounding. He can get really angry or really nice depending.

Personality: Revolution is friendly, and very popular among his peers as a generally good guy. He is classified as ‘one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet”. (Revolution has qualities of the ‘School idol’ type of character, but doesn’t follow a specific trope.) He’s very happy-go-lucky, which is the central part of his character and always seems to have a smile on his face, which is widely contagious. He goes out of his way to be nice to anyone and tends to make fast friends. He has a playful side to him, cracking jokes and making his friends smile. His extroverted personality, however, also can act as a defense. He can get in a controlled angry state if someone angers him. He is sincere, honest and always thoughtful and sweet- all around the perfect person for anyone to befriend.

Cupcake is a strong and pumped-up guy who appears early on in the game. Cupcake is labeled with the word “cute” often. He is constant with innocent gestures and all around thoughtful actions. While a bit goofy as a kid, he is brought with a toned down side to him as a teen. He’s tough, smiles largely and takes on the day. His determination can resonate as stubbornness, but he matures an awful lot through his timeline. While he appears immediately unbreakable, he has some separation issues and deep insecurities, such as his fear of never being loved by anyone.
Warnings:
Cake has some insecurities that we delve into as a part of his character. As it starts off with him relatively the same, his insecurities about never being liked (romantically) is shown into play. It stems into a more rooted problem (plants terminology much?) where it is clear he fears never being loved by his sisters and family.

She is meant to break down the female stereotype of the ‘ditz’ (like all characters break their negative stereotypes, male and female) Dakota acts rather dumb on occasion, having no discretion or culture to her (notably believing patty-cake was a clothing brand) but she is actually incredibly gifted academically, mathematically and science bound. She often relates it back to her interests, such as gardening, make-up or woodcraft, but in general she’s incredibly bright with the goal of being an engineer.

About: It is really hard for me to do this… I really loved her voice actor. She no longer replied to me though, so it is going to be difficult to recast her. It’s one of the few times that this has happened- where a voice actor who clicked so hard disappeared, and this is one of those occasions in which I have to offer the role elsewhere. He is warm and friendly to anyone, but he is fairly shy romantically. He often will try to say something really attractively, but end up messing it up cutely. He is considered happy-go-lucky but also can be a bit overbearing and hot headed.

Overall, he is a gifted baker, but simple tasks are not easy for him- which is why he employs the help of Milky to run the shop. Cookie is around thirteen years old when he’s first introduced, making him five years older than the hero. His real name is unknown at the moment, but he’s called Cookie in the game. He’s the only one of his siblings to have a relatively normal name. Cookie is up for consideration as Love interest DLC after the game comes out, but since he’s rather new, it is unknown how likely it will be.

Jet has three very different personality types in one character, two primary visible sides.
The first and most visible side is his closed off, Bored, Apathetic and almost sarcastic and lazy. He is slightly mono-tone.
The second side is over-the-top excited and super happy. It is described as the ‘cutest’ side to him as well as the comedic aspect to the character (to initially be very bored and suddenly very passionate). This initially appears while talking about games or something he loves, often reverting back to his first ‘apathetic’ side in embarrassment. This side is to be a shock to the player and is extremely different than his apathy.
The third and final side is gentle, warm and friendly. It is soft and a major contrast to the two rather extreme sides to him. It is rather romantic and is only shown occasionally, primarily in his romance path.

Personality: Milky is angry, somewhat twisted in her tone. She is an advocate of violence and quite dark all around. She is Silky’s identical twin sister, and Minti’s ferternal twin. Her twisted way of speaking is in contrast to Silky’s light and airy tone as well as Minti’s outgoing demeanor. In the trade chamber, Milky runs the black smith.

Personality:
She is spoiled and snooty, concerned about fashion and fairly egocentric. Tai's story surrounds her becoming a better person as a whole. In general, Tai appears to be much princess-like and an all around jerk. Unlike her best friend, Ana, Tai is actually a kind person deep down. She is a good friend, has a sense of humour. She falls under the Himedere archetype. She appears rude and princess-like but in reality is soft and sweet inside.

Personality: Gale is soft-spoken and gently received, shy and a bit timid. He appears rather innocent at times, but he holds many secrets. There are occasions where he’s shy around others, but in he has gained some confidence in his later years.
There is a part where Gale is in disguise and his voice should be unrecognizable. He acts as confident, egocentric and strong. It is indeed an act.

Tao is an adult with a strong sense of discipline. He is strong, loud and a little bit cheeky. He usually says things in humour with a straight face and calm voice. He is a father in the town.

Personality: Kafei is a simple man who runs a store in Araysia. He rarely speaks to the player, but he sometimes mentions his wife, Darjeeling Chai Lait and their son, Gordon. Though his name plays on Coffee, he is actually the man to run the chinese store.

About: She is bi, and has a girlfriend as of the third chapter of the game. She’s intensely stoic at times, but in general, fairly kind.

Personality: Bianca is sharp-tonged, sarcastic and spoiled, classified as the Ojou brat/himedere type. She acts all-mighty and superior. She enjoys watching some people in emotional turmoil after she is finished with them, often tearing apart friendships for her own interest. In truth, Bianca is really broken, she feels unlovable and she feels a complex array of emotions that very few understand. She tries to justify how she feels by doing onto others what others did onto her, to figure out why. She has a whole collection of insecurities which often come out around those she trusts. She is a bit of a Himedere, like another character of ours (Tai) but also can be considered slightly Yangire at times.
Warnings: Bianca is rather unstable and mean all around. While her instability eventally opens up a much kinder side to her, it does show a deep emotional wound that exists. She also has some issues with her family, which in turn leads to her position.
ALSO, Bianca helps her best friend come out as bi, and get together with the girl she has a crush on. You WILL be one of the only people to voice in this scene.

Eri – School Rumble (Bianca is based on this character type- the himedere/tsundere.)
Athena’s breakdown – Phoenix Wright {CLIP CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR PW:5} (While personalities are different, this reaction is similar to how Bianca would react during her break downs if not like how Eri acted during hers. )

[Angry break-down- Similar to Eri’s example- Gradual from angry to just crying/sad] “That’s fine!! Don’t love me! You’re just like everyone else. All you care about is that good girl who never gets in trouble, who is absolutely perfect in every way! That’s fine. She grew up loving and selfless and that is the complete opposite of who I am! I don’t expect anything less from you- or anyone else for that matter because NO ONE has loved me from the day I was born. You know how worthless I am to everyone, don’t you? So stop talking to me. I know I lost you to her- she deserves you.”

Angelica is the mother of Brooklyn, Evangeline and Gage.
Personality:
Angelica is meant to be a rather satirical character as the mother of one of the main love interests. She appears gentle and soft, and is often terrified by her kids. Angelica is much more of a child then her daughter, Eva, as she appears to cry often and cower in fear.
Voice:
Canadian/USA accent, Gentle, cries at times.
