Purpl Calamity is a NEW storytelling podcast that focuses on creating immersive and dimensional thriller experiences. Each episode is between 20-25 minutes with 6 episodes per season.
"Can You Hear Me?" is an original futuristic zombie story that follows the journey of a girl, Annie, who must find her way through an infested city. Mark Georgiono, the antagonist, created a real-life zombie apocalypse that revolves around tormenting Annie as a way to get back at Ken, his rival and Annie's dad. He calls it ECHO. Along her journey, Annie runs into a group of people who ultimately make her question two things. Who can she trust? And how will she put an end to all of this?

Name: Annie
Age: 20’s

She is the main protagonist in the show. Best words to describer her are:
Arrogant, sarcastic, somewhat oblivious, doesn't back down. She is sometimes under-minded but as the series continues, she soon will prove all wrong. She's the key to exposing E.C.H.O.
Playful, sarcastic: “pfft...what are you talking about? This is as luxurious as it gets” (chuckles)
Annie confronts Andrea.
Angry: “Are you jealous!? Are you angry because you had to live a much shittier life than me!? Is that what it is?"
“You’re mad because your parents were failures and decided to have children, knowing that they’d grow up to be poor little pieces of shit like you!"
Annie just discovered a terrifying scene and is in shock.
Under her breathe, confused: “what the fuck is going on?”
Tense: “Why? You wanna be the hero? You wanna "spare" my feelings? I don’t need your comfort.”
Name: Mark Georgiono
Age: late 30’s

Evil and conniving. Mark Georgiono is the antagonist in the story. He is the founder of ECHO and is responsible for creating the deadly disease that infected innocent civilians within the city.
(Cold)
“In what position do you think you’re in to question me?” [short pause]
(laughs) I'm kidding.
In this scene, Mark tries to intimidate Ken.
(He says this as he slowy walks toward the other person)
"You know, I never understood why you insisted on marrying Joanne. You weren't even able to protect her."
An unfit father and and even more unfit husband. I couldn't imagine being such a pathetic piece of shit like you."
Mark is trying to guilt trip.
Yells: "Look at her! Look at what YOU caused!
This..(chuckle) this is all your doing."
Name: Andrea
Age: 20’s

Andrea comes from a hard background and typically portrays herself as “tough" but she’s truly an emotional wreck on the inside. She keeps a wall up and has no problem giving anyone a piece of her mind. She has no filter and sometimes can be a little violent. A raspy voice would be ideal for Andrea but it's not necessary.
Andrea is frustrated and trying to inform her mate on recent changes.
Irate: “Did you forget there are camera’s everywhere? I sent the cam feed to ECHO and it turns out she is extremely valuable. We can’t lose her."
In this scene, Andrea had a feud with Annie and become emotional after a string was pulled.
Stern and emotional: “And by the way, you know nothing about what it takes to live in my shoes. So before you ever fix your mouth to talk about my “poor” family. Make sure you’ve already walked a mile.”
Happy, sarcastic: "Wow this is better than luna's"
(Laughs) "kidding!"
Name: Ken
Age: late 30’s

Annie's dad and Mark's rival. Ken is a lead scientist & engineer. He's partially responsible for aiding Mark in creating ECHO, but he's extremely regretful. Ken tries everything in his power to keep Annie safe and help her obtain and release the information to expose Mark. Even if it puts his reputation on the line.
He see's Annie for the first time but she can't see him.
Pleading: "Annie! Annie! Look at me Annie!
Defeated: "Baby. Look at me"
Here, ken is talking to his Ai. He's trying to figure out Annie's whereabouts and gets frustrated when Rachel denies him access.
Concise and serious tone: "Rachel. Show me all of the recent pings near home."
[short pause] "No no no that can't be right. Rachel, show me all of the recent logs from Mark Georgiono."
Irate: "Rachel! Show me all of the- [short pause] "What do you mean no access? I built you, you fucking- (sigh) sorry."
Fighting a zombie: "aaarrggghh!"
Name: Keagan
Age: 20’s
*voice and tone are open for interpretation. Avoid high-pitched, squeaky voices.
He's Young but he's been through a lot.
Optimistic, humorous, problem solver, energetic, and charismatic. Keagan is protective and loyal to those he care about. His loyalty and ethics will be tested throughout the series.
Confused, frustrated: “Wait...she was never a part of our deal. Now all of a sudden it relies on her?”
Yells to a friend: "Out of the way!
Swings to hit a zombie: "aaaarrrgghhh!"
Sarcastic: "take me to dinner first you freak."
Serious: “There is no home. Whatever you thought home was, erase it. This is our home. We have to survive now. I’m not gonna stop you again after this, but if you walk away then you’re on your own. And trust me, there’s plenty more of those “things” out there.”
Name: Luna
Age: 20’s

Luna is usually the voice of reason. She’s the “mom” of the group aka the glue holding everyone together. Her voice is soft yet projective. She only fights for what she stands for and will soon realize she chose the wrong side.
Luna is meeting Annie for the first time and is slightly annoyed by her friend's childish behavior.
Jokingly: “Well I guess I’ll be the MATURE one today. I’m Luna, nice to meet you”
Fighting a zombie: (swinging) "aaaarrghh!"
*create a noise as if you've been hurt*
Tense: "Look around you! No one is coming for us! No one is saving us!
Low: "When will you start to understand that?"
Name: Nasir
Age: 19

Vengeful, facetious, tactical, ignorant, and childish. Can be a little cold but has good intentions. Nasir is usually the one getting the group in a sticky situation.
Playful: “Woah relax mamacita. I’m just trying to lighten up the mood with a little bit of fun”
Here, Nasir is upset about betrayal within the group and is contemplating revenge.
Furious: "Don't tell me to relax. He betrayed everything we stood for.
Fighting a zombie: "Over here (laughs) whoops you almost got me. aaaarrghh!"

The narrator's job is to keep the storyline afloat so that the listener's aren't lost. The narrator will only come in every so often in order to reduce the amount of interruptions. The narrator will also have the opportunity to open up every episode.
*The pace of this narration should increasingly become more intense and fast*
"After an intense and frightful encounter, Annie managed to get away with only minor injuries to the leg. She struggles as she tries to find the right key to her car. Tossing and turning. She drops the keys. She looks up into the distance then back down at the keys. She fumbles and slip. Her body hits the car and sets off the alarm. Annie looks back into the distance. Annie puts the key into the car and twists. Oh no. It’s the wrong key. How is this possible? Annie frantically looks back into the distance and back at the keys.
Calm:
"She makes a run for it, dipping in and out of the cars in an effort to lose the Zero, but a curious boy happens to be watching from the luxury of his binoculars and decides to flag her down."
Zombies are referred to as "zeros" in the show.
We've given all the opportunity to interpret each line (zombie groan, hiss, and death) the best way you can. Give us your best inner zero!
Zombie groan:
This is the sound they make as they casually walk.
Zombie hiss:
This is the sound they make when attacking and biting.
Zombie death:
This is the sound they make when dying. (i.e hit in the head with an axe)
Name: Rama
Age: 20’s

Sometimes says a bit too much. Impressionable, tends to overthink, somewhat adventurous. Super hopeful and sweet with the right amount of sass. Rama is playful and may sometimes come across as childish.
Sarcastic:
“Please, trust me when I say nothing is charming about you.”
Rama wakes up & hears someone rummaging.
"Nasir, that you? Drea? Guys? [short pause]
She gets scared when her friend touches her shoulder:
"argh! Ollie! Not cool, was that you?
Rama is reminiscing with Nasir:
"Ahh man you remember steak? Mmm...and cheesecake? [chuckles] Ugh, I wonder if they're eating the same dry food at ECHO. [short pause] probably not (laughs)
Name: Ollie
Age: 20’s

Ollie is awkward, mellow, and typically stays in his own lane. He’s a genuine sweetheart and doesn’t say much but shouldn't be underestimated.
In this scene, Ollie is annoyed by one of his friends.
"Would you just kill the thing already."
Ollie's having a heart to heart.
"I don't understand the point of any of this anymore. I never meant for this to happen. [short pause] I wish I could go back to school and just live my life the way I wanted.
The role of the child is very small and will be featured in only 1 episode. We are open to any accents for this role. It's ok If you have to make a somewhat cartoonish voice for this, just try not to overdo it. Have fun and give it your best shot.
Shy:
"Hi. My ma says you're new in town."
Whispers:
"Ma and pa are scary."
Name: Martha
Age: 40
Tone: Silvery, arrogant
Accent: Country, Texan
The role of Martha is minor. Martha is mischievous but is able to hide her malicious ways by putting on a sweet, motherly front. She's a mom and a wife.
Warm and friendly:
"Here, eat up darling. You can't be out there on your own with an empty stomach."
She says this with a cunning smile:
"Something my father taught me growing up is to never trust anyone. Especially if they're too kind. Most of the time it's the quiet ones with a big smile that lights up a room you have to watch out for. (low chuckle)
Name: Stoney
Age: Mid 50's
A somewhat German accent would be ideal for Stoney but not necessary
Stoney has a relatively deep voice.
Stoney is an investor of ECHO and is also Georgiono's right hand man. He makes a few appearances throughout the season as he supports Georgiono's evil tactics.
Stoney on the phone with Mark:
"Ahh, I heard the good news. Looks like I made the right decision after all. Remember, my reputation is on the line, so don't disappoint me."
For this line we want your best interpretation of a laugh followed by a dry, terrible cough:
