I
started voice acting by volunteering with Learning Ally, narrating audiobooks for dyslexic
and the visually impaired. Then, I placed a profile on ACX and was chosen by
indie authors to produce their audiobooks. So far, I have produced four books
for authors, and produced two of my own.
Aside from audiobooks, I’m also voicing eLearning and Explainer modules
for HP Inc., the corporation where I spend my daily 9to5 until I retire and
move full time into voiceovers.
VA training includes coaching sessions by Carol
Monda, Johnny Heller and a 14 week acting class taught by Joel Froomkin.
My demo portfolio which consists of both commercial and
audiobooks can be found on my website at https://voiceovers.barbarahenslee.com/
I have a superb soundproof booth built by my contractor
husband. He also built the interior acoustical panels which have mineral wool
within a frame and wrapped in burlap. My booth is equipped with a Neumann TLM102 microphone and an Audient ID4 interface connected to a Windows PC. I use Adobe Audition and RX7.
I’m an indie fiction author with four books on Amazon and
non-fiction author having contributed inspirational articles to several online
publications.
I enjoy acting and bringing a variety of characters to life. I'll look forward to working on more projects within the Casting Call Club.
