Anthologies of Ullord: The Proteus Haunting
Project Overview
Plot: Branan Williams, a blood witch and cleric of Barbas, god of fear, is visited by his patron deity in a dream. In this dream, Barbas asks the witch to solve a problem that the god had created with good intentions: He has requested that Branan slay a shapeshifting beast born of pure fear. During his and his friends' descent into the beast's lair, caves and tunnels beneath the town it had been set upon, the blood witch is preoccupied with contemplating the words of his patron deity while attempting to make a strategy for dealing with the beast. His friends, on the other hand, become focused on their fears and anxieties, threatening them with becoming the beast's next prey...
Notes for actors considering our projects:
- Our works are all original, paid and we want the best of the best audio.
- We give highest consideration to those with better audio quality
- Auditions with audible reverb, background noises, fuzziness, peaking and the like will be rejected.
- This is because we can always direct your deliveries to be closer to ideal. We cannot show up and fix your interface, microphone set up and soundproofing/treatment.
This means no to:
- Headset microphones
- Phone microphones
- Internal microphones
- Laptop microphones
- If you want a better idea of what we’re looking for or what sort of project you’d be auditioning for, listen to our previously completed works (they are listed on our profile page).
- When auditioning, please do not add any effects to your audio. Cleaning up static is fine (you definitely want to put your best audio forward for your audition). But, if any effects are needed, the audio engineer will do that.
- Do not ask us for feedback during the auditioning process.
- For one, we do not have time to answer every auditioner’s questions about how well they rank compared to others, how they can improve their audition etc.
- We also do not give special considerations or some manner of advantage to anybody.
- We are easy-going, but we are professionals, not doormats. That means we expect you to respect deadlines and to respond to attempts to contact you.
- When we cast, if we do not hear back from an actor within 3 days, we will make a FINAL attempt to contact them. If we do not receive a prompt response we will recast, no exceptions.
- If you are cast, ***record in mono.***
- We welcome new talent who we have never cast before as well as those we have worked with before.
- We believe in transparency and we are up front and honest about ourselves, our projects and so on. Feel free to ask us basically any questions you may have about our works, characters etc.
- We believe in a positive and supportive working environment. Even though this is across the internet instead of actors having an hour in a recording studio, we still do our best to maintain that. With this in mind, how you behave and interact with us will be mirrored.
- Lastly, we [professionally] love our actors. We show them the utmost appreciation and support. If we have a good working relationship with you, then you have a very good chance at receiving future work from us, plain and simple. We also support our actors’ creative endeavors, personal projects and leave recommendations on CCC after a project has been compiled.

Branan (he goes by Bran) is a human blood mage and cleric of Barbas (the god of fear). He stands at about 5'10 (about 178 cm) and at 150 lbs (about 68 kg). He has a fairly thin build.
Branan is a man who fears nothing corporeal. Since he was a child he had only feared concepts such as losing his friendships or causing harm to a loved one. He can be pragmatic and logical to a fault. He is often swept up in his own thoughts. Part of his pragmatism includes carrying a knife to draw blood to use his blood as a magical attack. He enjoys reading and learning as much as he can regarding the world around him. He is level-headed and oftentimes a sympathetic ear for his friends.
Branan is the group’s scholar. His specialty within the team, appropriately, is deciphering ancient scripts and handling any magical barriers in their exploration and excavations. He is a skilled magic-user and enjoys experimenting with magic and science. He sometimes can make others uncomfortable with his fixation on blood. If that isn't off-putting, enough, he was born will of Barbas' gifts including the ability to read, instill and exploit fears in others.
As a cleric, he is devoted to Barbas and of wanting to help others on behalf of his patron deity.
For a voice type, we are looking for something that is soft and probably a medium register.
(disbelieving) This is an odd dream. Having tea with a god.
(happily) I have faith that Barbas chose me for this for a reason!
(slowly, deliberately) Now, you’re going to focus on me, monster. You are going to look into my eyes. And you are going to seek the fear within me as your sustenance.

Lucas is a consecrated human performer and adventurer with a specialization in scouring ruins and other ancient, out-of-the way areas. He took up this specialty in part to avoid his family and their employees, with whom he parted ways many years ago despite their efforts to bring him back. He is kind man with what can best be described as “chronic hero syndrome”. He is practically incapable of leaving a person in need without trying to step forward to help. He stands at about 6'3 (about 190.5 cm) and 265 lbs (about 120 kg) with a muscular build.
As a performer, he sings and acts in stage plays. He enjoys performing to take his mind off his troubles.
He is both a skilled mage and a skilled sword user.
He is also a cleric for Kasih, goddess of love. He can see the "red strings" that are the manifestation of relationships and emotional ties between people. Like all of the mortals who can see the red strings, he cannot see those which are connected to him.
He is a loving, gentle, generous person. He can be straightforward and occasionally goes out of his way to council the people whose strings he can see. He enjoys bringing people together and helping others through their problems.
As a consecrated, he draws a lot of attention to himself. He is an indifferent beauty who is dismissive of the romantic attention he receives from men and women interested in him. He has a magnetic personality and he is often made uncomfortable by being the center of attention when he does nothing to earn it. He has an unusual quirk of being too warm in normal temperatures; he grew up on a tundra. He often wears less clothing than others to adjust to the normal temperatures.
For a voice type, we are looking for a deep voice with a commanding presence.
(singing/singsong) Growth and expansion are your greatest gifts!
How are we to fight something that can change its appearance like that?
It’s not as though a monster is going to be offended at your phrasing. Or any more offended by that than being blasted with magic.

Kat Rose
Nila is a human cleric of Mara, goddess of life and death. She was hired by Lucas and his companions as a bodyguard against assassins. Before accompanying them, she slew the undead, assassins and necromancers as is the expectation of the life and death clergy. She stands at about 5'0 (about 150 cm) and 130 lbs (about 59 kg) and has a lithe build.
She is a devout member of Mara’s clergy, who takes her job quite seriously. She always wears her brooch as well as the colors of her clergy. She has become used to the strange looks she draws from being a Mara cleric traveling with non-Mara clerics.
She is a quiet, straightforward and logical person. She is not easily interpersonal with others and is often anxious and inept. She is easily embarrassed. She is courageous and selfless. She thinks out her options before approaching any issue.
In her time with Lucas and the others has begun to open up somewhat and become more jovial and friendly. She denies it vehemently, but she has a crush rather quickly growing on Lucas, and not just for his consecration, but his generally kind demeanor toward her.
She is capable of healing others with a favor from Mara. She is a skilled fighter with swords and scythes.
For a voice type, we are looking for a medium-to-higher register.
So this thing is supposed to shift into our worst fears, meaning…
And more to the point, is it something we can put down?
(sighing) Bran, you’re a sweet guy, but that is hardly reassuring.

Nick Eriksen
He is a high elf “rogue,” whose specialty within the group is in disarming traps and picking locks. He grew up nearly homeless, but was taken in by the thieves' guild. After being named by an older thief, he chose his surname off of his skill that he was most efficient in (picking pockets) There, he was protected in exchange for helping with thieving. He led a group of child thieves as a teen when he was too big to do things he had done before then. He stands at 6'0 (about 183 cm), 165 lbs (about 75 kg). He has a thin, lithe build.
Aeson is technically a pacifist, even going so far as wielding a whip to disarm or trip opponents rather than kill them. He is just as likely to sting somebody with a somewhat sharp wit as with the end of his whip. He is a peaceful, easy-going person. He loves his friends deeply and he has an undying loyalty to them. He has an deep hatred for alchemists. He is easily flustered by attractive women. He can be catty and quick-witted. He does not have a formal education.
He has an innate sense of fairness. Despite being a thief, he feels that people should be honest and that people should be treated well and with respect. His sense of fair place crosses into all areas of his life.
For a voice type, we are looking for a medium or higher register.

The narrator role reads the text that explains the context of a scene. The conversation between word and sound does leave a gap and reading as the narrator fills in everything so the reader will have context.
The narrator can be male or female and we are open to all voice types.
We specifically look at cadence, an even voice and the reading capability of the auditioner.
Barbas turned and motioned toward an open area. An area of colored clouds disappeared and a pair of chairs, a table and a tea kettle and cups were revealed. Barbas sat and then he motioned to the empty chair.
Branan watched his friends and the strange creature. He had been fixated on a possible strategy for handling the monster. He had hoped that a solution would suddenly occur to him in as a spark of inspiration.
After having spent the night sleeping and the day resting, Branan sat in the tavern. Branan was contemplating everything that had happened. A sudden burst of cold air made the witch shiver briefly.
