Angel Cup Manhwa Dub (Volume 1)
Project Overview
I'm a big fan of association football (a.k.a. soccer). When I came across this manhwa (Korean manga) in a school library, I was extremely intrigued by it and wanted to see more of it (since only the first two volumes were available). But then... I picked up all 5 volumes and I really liked it. Keep in mind this was before the anime "Farewell, My Dear Cramer" came out. With the 2022 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, I want to dub this manhwa like I have done with .hack//Legend of the Twilight.
So, here is the synopsis of "Angel Cup".
"Angel Cup tackles the highs and lows of girls' soccer at Han Shin High. So-Jin and Shin-bee are fiercely competitive and will play against anyone, including boys, for their beloved sport. Can our heroines navigate the fakes, fouls and penalties in the games of life and love well enough to reach their goal of being champs?"
- Description from TokyoPop, the original publishers
Depending on the commitment from the VA's, popularity of the project, etc... I MAY actually take this to ALL 5 volumes. They will be published on my YouTube channel.
REQUIREMENTS
Please note that some of these characters (especially the main ones) are recurring. I will expect commitment... and patience. Those who have auditioned may be considered as a role you have not auditioned for or extras (students, players, adults, etc.). You may also let me know if you wish to be an extra or the extra role as well as your current role. Regarding critiques, I will be prompt at handing them out at your request. You can ask me. 'I don't bite... hard.'
Even though it's a fan project for fun (and as such, won't have a budget), significant level of technical and performance quality is going to be expected. Please ensure that your microphone is capable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping.

The protagonist of the series. She is a freshman who switched during the school year into Han Shin (한 신) High School. An avid soccer player in junior high, she always brought her team to the finals with her skill but was crushed four years running by the league MVP, Shin-Bee. Her position is midfielder and her number is 10. She went to So-Rah (소 라) junior high school.
Medium-high. Tomboyish and very headstrong.
(in a "I told you so" attitude) "Hey, Joon, take a look. See what I can do when I make up my mind? I can wear a skirt whenever I want."
(angry) "You were a 3-time MVP!! I-I gave up the game because of you." (shouts) "But what did you do?! You went to a high school with no girls' soccer team!"
"Then you know what I want. Your wings... Will you lend them to me? (pauses) "I saw them... during gym class. Unyielding wings shining brilliantly on your strong back. You must love playing so much." (becomes happy) "Lend me your strength! For the sake of all the girls who love the game!"(enraged) "What's that about girls?" (pauses) "You're not gonna like what you see in the mirror after I finish with you!"
(determined) "I... cannot lose." (shouts) I CANNOT LOSE!!!"
A freshman in high school, she was the junior high soccer MVP for four years running. She switches into Han Shin High as a student and becomes the boys' team's new manager. Her acclaimed brother, Shin-Young, was on the Han Shin Team as well. She seems reluctant to play for private reasons, but So-Jin's enthusiasm gets her to substitute in the futsal match. It is revealed she has some kind of health condition (possibly life-threatening) that cuts down her stamina after even short amounts of play. Her number is 6. She went to Yun Hee (윤 희) junior high school.
Medium-high. Frail and timid. Think... Sucrose of "Genshin Impact", but with a touch of Rei Ayanami of "Evangelion".
(smiling) "I'm the new manager of the Han Shin boys' soccer team. I can't manage you and them. There's a promise I have to keep. I have to be part of soccer..."
(tries to remember memory that So-Jin told her) "Hmm... Oh! You're the girl who side-tackled me every game. Well, I've moved on to managing. Does that answer your question? I'll be going then."
(vehement about her decision to So-Jin's demand) "I said no. Why can't you take no for an answer? I don't want any part of your game.""You're overconfident. It'd be better if you quit. Your skills and mental game are being destroyed by your arrogance!"
(angry) "Funny. I was thinking about the same thing about you." (pauses) "You will not drag this team with you."
Mi-ae is bouncy and bubbly. Her breasts, large by Korean standards (C-cup) are a point of ridicule throughout the series. She is the first freshman to take up So-Jin's cause of girls' soccer, and although she is not extraordinarily skilled, she makes up for it with enthusiasm. One of the reasons she chose to play against the boys' team in the futsal match is a grudge- she was cut as their manager for no good reason. She is Mi-Rae's older twin, and a freshman. Her number is 5 and she plays as a forward.
Medium-high to High. Bubbly and cheerful. Think... Pinkie Pie of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic".
"Hardly looks like a victor, does she? Though you don't look like a pushover. With teammates like you two, we'll give those soccer jocks a beating!"
(in declaration) "For the mighty and noble cause of defeating the boys' soccer team, I, Kang Mi-Ae from Freshman Class 7, throw my lot in So-Jin Lee's futsal team!"
"My grandfather was a track and field Olympian! My dad was a professional bowler and now owns a sports centre! And the fruit doesn't fall from the tree!"(slightly ditzy but remembers about another training) "Oh, Mi-Rae, that training... Wasn't it just to save money on bus fare?"
"Nice to meet you, flunky!"
Yee-Ju is a sophomore, and starts out as a 'dangerous' kind of character. She smokes until an enraged So-Jin makes her quit, and her attitude is cool and collected both on and off the field. She was originally on the school's handball team before it was cut, and as a result of this skill plays goalkeeper. Her number is 1.
Medium. Calm, cool & collected. Think... Beidou from "Genshin Impact".
"Moron... What lamebrain kicks the ball in the middle of the goal?"
"It wasn't a popular sport. Without funding or support, we couldn't stop them from cutting us. The rest of the girls moved on. But I find I'm unable to. Playing took me to another level. But the school clipped our wings." (pauses) "You're the freshman who's organizing the futsal team, right? So-Jin?"
"I can catch it. I've caught crazier balls than this!"
"It's red to match your blood. You can't stand your sympathy, can you?"
(excited) "Let's screw the books and get active." (pauses then whispers) "When I touch the ball... I get mysteriously excited."
Soo-Hee is a freshman devoted to Yee-Ju, for whatever reason. Although she is not extraordinarily athletic (or even that athletic at all), she joins So-Jin's cause to aid Yee-Ju. She plays as a defender, and is knocked out making a save during the futsal match. Her number is 3.
Medium-high. Fangirly.
(beggish) "Why would you want to play with those dirty and aggressive men?! You must have been tricked! Hoodwinked! You don't even like soccer!"
"Oooh. Those boys and their nasty violence...!" (pauses then becomes fangirly) "I will sacrifice my body to protect yours!"
(determined) "I will not be a hindrance to Yee-Ju!"
Unlike Mi-Ae, Mi-Rae is serious and gets mad easily. She is much more athletic and competitive, but only plays soccer to 'beat her sister' for whatever reason. She plays forward and her number is 7. She is the younger twin of Mi-Ae and is also a freshman.
Medium-high. Serious, but competitive.
(shouting) "Don't ask me! Ask that big chested blonde bimbo!!"
(shocked) "F... Futsal? A match against the boys?!"
(shouting) "WHAT?! I'm not so much as sharing a WATER BOTTLE with that dipstick!" (pauses) "The only competition that matters to me is against HER, got it? So back off, octopus head!"
The captain of the boys' soccer team. Attractive with the girls and talented on the field, it's difficult to ascertain his true motives and feelings behind what he does. He has a strong sense of honor, and defends Shin-Bee from the other boys. He doesn't seem to be too much of a knight in shining armor, though, as demonstrated in volume one when he suggests So-Jin dress as a maid if she lost the futsal match. A strong player like So-Jin, he also plays midfielder and bears the number 10.
Medium-low. Reserved, but confident. Think of him as a mixture of Zhongli and Diluc from "Genshin Impact".
"All you have is pride. If you're so passionate about soccer, why attend a school with no girls' team?"
"I'll respect you if you show me you can play." (pauses) "Or maybe you're better at running your mouth than running after the ball?"(agreeing to a match) "You're on. However, we're a nationally ranked team. So we don't waste time with pick up games. However, if this were a formal match... Go form a team and come back. As Captain of the Han Shin boys' soccer team, I agree to this match!"
"I've heard your excuse! How can you live around all these objects you must have loved -- the ball, the field, the cleats -- and keep from reaching out? If in your frustration to clip So-Jin's wings... then I have no longer have any reason to shield you from the other guys."
He is initially chauvinistic and harsh toward girls' soccer in general and Shin-Bee in particular. He mocks So-Jin mercilessly, even though she trumps him time and time again. He plays an aggressive forward, and bears the number 8. He appears to admire Mi-Jin's skill.
Medium to Medium-high. Aggressive and a 'bully'. (WARNING! He curses quite a bit...)
"For a captain, you're eager to let things slide! I haven't liked her from the start! You uppity wannabe! You're a girl--" (then grunts in pain)
"Fine by me. You had this coming anyway." (shouts) "Show me if you can!"
"Are you freaking kidding me?! A formal match is too good for them!"
(cocky) "Didn't I warn you? An actual game is different!"
"Hmph... Fine." (pauses then shouts) "Allow me to express my disgust non-verbally!!"
Ditzy, klutzy, idealistic but good-hearted, Chae-Young is the self-proclaimed coach of the Han Shin Blue Angels (she also gave it its name), despite having absolutely no prior knowledge of or involvement with the sport. She is also the granddaughter of the chairman of the Dae Han group. It is suggested she has had some kind of modeling career beforehand.
Medium-high. Kind-hearted & a klutz.
(sad) "I'm afraid I didn't do the right thing. But they were slobbering over inheritance, and..." (pauses) "Please help me, uncle. I... want to fulfill grandfather's wishes..."
"Vandalizing the bulletin board is against school rules. Tsk! Defacing a poster for such a fabulous cause!"
(impressed) "You're quite the go-getter... So-Jin Lee."
