With the looming new popularity of Alternate Reality Games, or ARGs, many scramble to make the next best thing - their mark on the virtual space, and the real one. In a city filled with people, lays the perfect plot. In a city full of people, lays the perfect cast. In a city full of people, lays the rabbit hole.
ALICE TRICK is a visual novel style YouTube audio series, with the ultimate end goal of becoming a 999 style visual novel game! While in the early stages of scripting, I've decided to open up a casting call to gauge the voice cast for the main characters - to see what works, what doesn't, and to have voices ready once the scripts become available!
Auditions for team members (art, music, editing) will be ongoing as the project goes on, so please continue to submit even after the deadline passed!
Due to the themes of this project, all VAs must be 18 and older. Please leave any socials and contact information in the text portion of your audition! We cannot count any auditions without proper contact information.

Staff will be done at the end when auditions close, as we'll be taking multiple people per role - so don't fret if you weren't picked there!
We do have a new discord server for those auditioning - a plain one that we'll use ONLY for the duration of auditions, which will be deleted once casting is complete. A fan discussion server will be made after the release of Act 1, so don't worry there!

Hey there tricksters, another update that many of you have been waiting for: shortlists! The first round of shortlists happens tomorrow evening, so be sure to get your auditions in soon!
There'll also be a discord server opening for people interested in the project - mainly for auditioning, so it's only a temporary server! There you'll be able to get feedback on your auditions and learn a LOT more about the characters, so even if you're dismissed you can audition again with a lot more insight!

The main character of Alice Trick, Aki. Androgynous. A bit stupid, has options to be more sassy/rude or airheaded/sweet depending on the situation. No set voice reference aside from androgynous, but will have the most lines out of the series.
(spacing out) Such is life, huh...
(genuinely asking, unintentionally dismissive) An ARG huh? Isn't that one of those threads online you keep telling me about?
(stern, determined) "If I get too close I lose my head," is definitely a threat, but... I'd rather you guys not investigate this alone.
The protagonist's childhood friend alongside Masako. Sweet but very smart, basically a detective. Enjoys skateboarding and old manga. Would do anything to protect MC, even sacrifice himself if he had to. A warm and slightly nasal young man, with a mid to mid-high pitch in his tone. Easily excited, and takes everything genuinely.
(excited, explaining) Nah nah, A-R-G! Alternate Reality Game, it's cool! This one's taken me all over town already to scan stuff, it's crazy!
(nervous, caught off guard but trying to stay calm) A-ah... that's not graffiti this time... is it?
(proud, a little goofy) There's cleeeearly nothing to worry about, not with the N-M-A Detective agency on the case! (this next portion is read in a hurried/under-the-breath tone) That stands for "Naru Masa Aki" since you guys are like my assistants, yeah?
Childhood friend of Naruhito and Aki. Always been playfully teasing Naruhito and Aki, encouraging them to get together - will get flushed and angry/embarrassed whenever her feelings for Naruhito/Aki come up. Very bright with computers, always tries to help out with the case in terms of imagery and surveillance. Her voice should be mid to high ranged, cheerful without sounding squeaky - with some grit whenever she gets loud from being teased
(humored, relaxed) Yeah it's pretty cool, I followed Naru around to some of the places already. Dude's like a bloodhound with this stuff!
(scared, caught off guard) A-ah... whatthefuck whatthefuck whatthefuck?! That better not be what I think it is!!
(focused, certain) Listen, it's not like the movies where I can just blow up pictures and keep all the fidelity. Pixels can only do so much, but... I can see if I can get something outta this.
A suspicious young man suddenly appearing in Aki's life after a random set of run-ins throughout the day. Calm, cool and collected - his outer shell never seems to crack. His voice should be mid to mid-low ranged, with a slight amount of husk to it. He's calm but not smug with very little inflection at times, and rarely raises his voice above a speaking tone.
(calm, slightly amused) I swear, this is the second time running into you... if I was a little more paranoid, I'd say you were stalking me.
(a little shaken, but level) Listen, this is certainly... a situation to be in, but our main priority is to keep ourselves safe.
(deep in thought, slightly more inflection/emotion than normal) Hmm... basing the entire game off of a children's book feels a little crude, but that's not to say it hasn't been done before. I wonder if--...no, nevermind.
A gentle friend of Aki, has always had feelings for them but wanted to keep their friendship together. Easily flustered, can hold his own in a fight. Is one of the surviving victims of the ARG. A wispy, mid to high ranged male voice, easily wavering and full of self doubt at times - other times will have a mild attitude/sass to his usual airy tone.
(caught off guard) H-how long have you been there? ...Sorry Aki, I wasn't paying attention...
(terrified) No, nonono please!! (shaky breathing) I don't wanna see it again, please don't make me look at it again!
(focused) I think this is only going to escalate from here. Whoever's behind this feels really... showboat-y.
A classmate of Aki's who can’t make friends other than them due to her intimidating face, is a very gentle girl who likes cute things and gothic/visual kei fashion. Is a follower of the ARG and offers to be Aki's bodyguard as they investigate, thinks they're cute like a bunny and should be protected. A mid-low to low feminine voice, warm and gentle without sounding sexy/alluring. A bit of gravel/texture when raising her voice.
(calm, mildly amused) You never change, do you Aki?
(horrified, level voice) This is... What the fuck happened here?
(Unsure) I was never really good at these things, I just kinda followed 'em for fun. Still... I wish I could do more.
Cruel old classmate of Aki, always tries to monopolize their time and push others out of the picture. Intrigued by the ARG and Aki's role in it, tags along to help. A mid to low ranged voice with some range preferred, as the character will have moments sounding deranged/lovesick. Disinterested/faking interest in most things, more invested sounding in things relating to Aki.
(Eager, but level headed and slightly snarky) You know I can help you better than they can, right? They simply don't have the right grasp on the situation, but I do.
(Half listening, amused) Right, yeah - does he always talk this much, or is today a special day?
(Deranged, escalating) Don't think I didn't notice! All the toying with me, all the indignant behavior! (shaky breathing, leading into a subtle dark-sounding chuckle/laugh) It's all for me, isn't it? For my attention? Well... lucky you.
A shut-in and former classmate. A genius with technology, but an idiot with social situations. Has an AI companion in his phone/PC named Alice, calls her his “virtual gf”. A nasal mid-ranged male voice, constantly muttering under his breath. Has a bit of a bad attitude and can't read many social situations to save his life.
(Annoyed) And you call me this late at night for... what exactly? Some shitass scam texts?
(Scared, unsure of himself) L-listen, I really shouldn't be out here, I'm just gonna go home yeah? Go home, talk to Alice, back to the safety of my room.
(Gaining interest, a little aprehensive) Well... I-if you really wanted, I could show you what I have. It's not much, but I do like this kinda stuff too - there's a new one on 3ch every day. (pronounced three - cha)
A self proclaimed love expert, and Naruhito’s 14 year old sister. Reads too many girly magazines, and has no real experience with anything romantic in real life. Is often scolded by Naruhito for repeating dirty jokes she hears. Cute and high pitched, a classic younger sister voice. Often teasing, will not have many lines in the series - in the projected game she's a navi girl and meant to help you navigate game functions.
(obnoxious, slightly bratty) UWAHGH!! Ehehehe, sorry... Got too carried away there, almost fell on myself listening in on you two lovebirds!
(thinking, taking things seriously) Hmmm... I mean, what do they like? You can't just expect a relationship to work on points! ...except it totally does!
