Aidos — An Original Visual Novel
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello! My name is Takafumi, and I am here to find voice actors for my latest game "Aidos." The game itself will be a free release, with a projected release date of August. It's almost complete, and adding voices would be the cherry on top.
Aidos is an anime-style Visual Novel with a simple romance premise. It's by no means a grand project, and as such we'll be opting for partial voice acting. This means that—rather than voice every line in the game—we'll be asking for a set of sounds and vocalized expressions. Examples of this approach in popular media include Fire Emblem Awakening and Danganronpa. The main characters will have 10 short lines, and side characters will have less than 10.
The game's setting and synopsis promote representation of characters from many different backgrounds, so certain accents are in demand. The accents in question will be a character-by-character basis.
Voice actors will be credited in-game via the credits roll at the end of each route (three credit rolls in total) as well as in the game's information screen accessible from the main menu. Credits will also be posted on the itch.io store page and on a vndb.org page.
ABOUT AIDOS
The prestigious all-girls school—Erinna Academy—was once held in high regard, however in recent years it has struggled to remain relevant. Fewer and fewer students join them each year due to a falling population of upper-class youths. At the end of the previous academy year the school was sold off to new ownership, and with it came a change of ideals.
The new owners decided to experiment... For a single year the school would accept a small number of male students, bringing them on for a trial period, and offering them an educational background typically reserved for only the richest people in the country.
The story begins with the protagonist arriving at Erinna Academy. There he will meet three girls. There you will find love.
Aidos is a medium-length Visual Novel originally started as a simple game jam project. Devised as a way to introduce a bunch of new creators into the world of game development, the Aidos project acts as a form of early work experience for the participants. Despite it being a first foray for most of the team—and despite it being a free project—we're pushing to meet a commercial quality that everyone can be proud of.
Structurally Aidos is a route-based romance novel, but thematically it is an exploration of family and class. All of the characters come from different countries, are part of a different class, and have unique familial backgrounds. Together they attend an environment of learning, and together they learn the virtue of humility and the foolishness of prejudice.
Due to the lines being so general, knowledge of the plot doesn't matter very much, however in order to assure that everyone is comfortable with the themes and events present within Aidos, actors may be contacted with more plot-related information.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As the lines are often single-sounds, the workload is very light. You'll have contact with me, and the process will be flexible to suit your preferences. I have experience with both a back-and-forth live feedback approach, and with a hands-off direction notes approach. Comfort is the priority.
DEADLINES
Roles will be finalized on the 16th of July. From there, actors will have until the end of the month (15 days) to complete their recording.

The amount of high-quality auditions is incredible, and it was super hard to decide on a single voice for each role. These submissions deserve recognition, even if they can't all be casted, so I'll be writing up some short comments on my favorites. Each of the characters has a dedicated writer attached, and some are more decisive than others. When it comes to Vivienne and Thaddeus, the multiple high quality interpretations of those characters have proven tough for their writer to settle on. Please bear with us while we figure out which voices fit best! As for the other roles, messages will be sent to the chosen actors shortly.
Alyssa has a timid and bashful way of speaking, though she has confidence when it comes to caring for others. Her caring nature gives her a bit of an older sister vibe, but there's little power or passion to her voice. She lives restricted by the expectations of an upper-class lady.
Compared to the rest of the upper-class students, Alyssa comes across as sounding relatively normal. She's not posh, just very polite.
A shocked "Eh?"
"Uwawawawa!"
(Holding back tears) "I'm sorry..."
Only daughter of the ancient and aristocratic Laurent household, Vivienne has unmatched pride in herself and in nobility as a whole. She has a sharp tongue, an imposing presence, and the voice of a leader. It's second nature for her to condescend the lower class, however she shows a considerate kindness to her fellow students. She is smart enough to know that most commoners speak on a sixth-grade level, so among most the lower classes she speaks with pointed frankness... I suppose that's a form of kindness.
She refers to the protagonist as 'Mutt.'
She is fluent in her native tongue of French, and English. Her accent is notably Parisian, and her voice cracks when she's angry.
"W-What!?" (Embarrassed/angry)
"Congratulations (sarcastic)"
"Hah!?" (incredulous)
Sadika typically has a casual, everyday way of speaking: direct and blunt, which can come off as rude.
She tends to be sarcastic and cutting but not mean exactly. She uses a lot of sound reacts in casual speech-- "pff", "ha," "mhm," stuff like that.
She has a split French/Arabic accent, Moroccan Arabic, though general North African (e.g. Algeria, Tunisia) may work.
(When someone tries to make plans with her that she doesn't want to go along with, she'll respond uncaringly.) "Inshallah"
A tomboyish laugh. "Haha"
"Awww" (Cute, like "aww, you're shy!")
Lis has a relatively deep voice. She can raise her voice to a "cute" pitch if she really pushes for it, but it's obviously fake.
Embodying the spirit of a tired and grumpy woman, she tends to sigh and complain under her breath when interacting with the more stubborn students. Her manner of speaking is very blunt and dry, and at times her lack of sleep shows: she doesn't have the most powerful voice, and at times she'll dip into a raspy tone.
A judging "hoooh?" as if to say "Is that so?"
Either a "tch" or an "Oi"
An obviously fake cutesie "aha" laugh.
Liam is an upbeat ordinary kid. His French accent is slight, potentially not even present at times.
"Come on!"
"Huh?"
"Uuuuugh"
Thaddeus is a loud kid with an almost obnoxious presence. He has a professional manner of speaking, erring on overly pronounced, but when put on the back foot he loses all of his confidence—and with it—the ability to speak full sentences.
"What a treat!"
"Thank heaven."
"You fool!"
Vivienne's Father is a wise aged man, with a deep gravely voice and a refined tone. Although a French accent fits, a generic "refined-gentleman" sound works just as well.
"Impressive."
"Listen carefully."
"Hmm..."
The Principal of Erinna Academy is as refined as you'd expect of such a proud school's leader. She's not exactly snappy, nor is she gentle, rather she's a neutral voice. She's here to do her job, nothing more.
"Indeed"
"Please (, come in)"
"Yes?"
