What is this?
At Windsor Castle in King James' England, Sister Angela and Lady Serah demand that Lord Essex allow them audience with King James. Having hunted the Witchbreed to near extinction, they have come for one last target, King James himself. Angela strikes him down, but he rises again, enraged and bone claws extended. She then skewers him upon her spear and drowns him in the River Thames.
The pair of Witch Hunters next travel to the Mermaid Tavern in London, stalking a new kind of prey, Faustians. After some mingling, Serah fixes upon their target, Captain James Barnes of Clan Buchanan, wanted for the seduction and unnatural murder of Lady Istu Ogun, and Angela promptly beheads him. He too rises again, this time the Faustian transforming into a demonic monstrosity of jointed limbs and teeth.
A fight ensues, though ultimately the Witch Hunters overpower Barnes, forcing him to summon his maker, the Leader of the Wild Hunt, the Bride of the Faerie King, the Enchantress. Enchantress attempts to convince Angela to turn a blind eye to her dealings, but when the latter refuses, the former promises her that before she's killed three more Faustians, Serah will die.
This is a comic dub of part one of the Witch Hunter Angela comic from Marvel. I will be doing the other parts in future and would love to cast the same people in the same roles if possible.
Requirements:1.) I'm a huge fan of this franchise and want this project to succeed but also to be of as high a quality as it can be. Each role will have the suggested guidance and ideal performance parameters I have in mind for each character, but the beauty of acting is taking the same premise or direction and presenting it with your own unique flair. Please don't be afraid to question me on motivation of a character or direction of a scene, I want you to bring these characters to life in your own way!
2.) Anything in this colour down below is NOT to be read when you're auditioning for various parts- this text exists solely to give context to the lines you will be reading.
3.) Discord is not required, but it is recommended as we utilise it to organise group rehearsals, deliver announcements, and distribute scripts.

Angela is the lead protagonist of the comic dub, whoever is cast for this I would preferably like to keep on for future Angela projects if possible. This will be one of the bigger commitments, please make sure you are up to it and showcasing a wide variety of emotion.
(Contemplative) I have been trying to track it, but with no success. I am confounded. All I have left are my instincts… [Angela is currently discussing her hunt with King James, the final words should be spoken in an accusatory tone as she believes King James to be her prey.]
(Proud & angry) Long live the king! Death to the Faustians! [The part in bold should be the focus of the anger in the line. 'Faustians' is pronounced 'Fow-stians' ('ow' pronounced the same as if you were in pain).]
(Confused) Serah, I do not understand any of these jibes. [Angela is not great with social interaction and so Serah being friendly with the locals and making jokes confuses her greatly.]
The Enchantress is part of the faerie realm and so she should have an air of mystery about her voice, she is also mocking whoever she is speaking to for the majority of her lines. The Enchantress speaks in old English a lot so some of your lines may not make sense at first glance, please double check before submitting any lines, any questions please ask before you record.
The Enchantress will be the main antagonist of the story and future projects.
(False comfort) Hasten home. They shall hunt for thee. With sword and spear and spell… they shall hunt thee. [The Enchantress is trying to show some false comfort to someone who has just made a deal with her to save their life. There should be some hint of danger in her voice on the bold word.]
(Sarcastic) Rather a hell of a herald, was he not? What a pity. He was so handsome. [This follows the death of one of the Enchantress' minions. Usual emphasis on the bold word.]
(Mocking) Happy hunting, Good Sister Angela... [This is just after the Enchantress has threatened Angela with the death of someone close to her. There should be emphasis on the bold of this line.]
Serah is the usually bright and high spirited companion of Angela, she is also a Witch Hunter. While this is a supporting role Serah is still a big part of the story and this is still a large commitment as Serah has the most dialogue in part one.
I would like to continue using the same VA for Serah in future comic dubs if possible.
(Annoyed) I would step aside with haste, sir. My friend and I dislike being delayed. This is a most serious business. [Serah and Angela are trying to gain entry to King James' quarters and are being stopped by Lord Essex. While Serah is annoyed here she is not an angry person by nature.]
(Sarcastic humour) I know, we are being dreadfully inaccessible, are we not? ‘Tis very impolite. I shall hurry it along. [Serah is enjoying this a lot. Note that "'Tis" is correct, it's not an error, there's a fair amount of old English in these lines.]
(Scared) Angela… what is it? What have we done? [This line is said after a battle, however Serah is not out of breath or sluggish, she is a trained fighter. There is none of the usual humour found in Serah's voice in this line, she doesn't know what to do.]
King James is a minor supporting role. To be cast as King James you will need to be able to play him as a regal character but also as a beast once he transforms.
(Surprised) Angela! What are you-- Doom above! What is that?! [King James has just witnessed his chamber doors being broken open by Angela & Serah. Angela has walked in carrying a small body with an overgrown head. Please add emphasis on the word in bold.]
(Angry) Ggrrraaahhh! [Give me your best beastly growl of anger.]
(Angry) You cannot strike the king, you Bubonic Plague! [King James has just transformed into a Witchbreed, while he still sounds human there will be a growl to his voice.]
James Barnes is at first a stereotypical honourable knight, he lives to serve those he can protect, he is kind, caring and charming. Feel free to play with this to fit how you would imagine a knight, but remember the core facts of him being honourable and kind.
Later, Barnes transforms into a bug-like creature that I imagine would have a raspy sort of voice as it struggles to speak.
James Barnes is a supporting role for this comic dub.
(Shocked & proud) Madam-- I have the honour to be Captain James Barnes, of Clan Buchanan. [Barnes is shocked when saying "Madam" but soon turns to pride as he states his rank and clan. Buchanan is pronounced Bew-cannon (Bew is just the sound of the letter B followed by the sound of disgust 'ew').]
hsssss… skrrrssss. [Give me your best bug-like monster hisses and noises. If you're struggling use snake hissing as a base and then add other sounds in to give variety.]
(Begging) I did not mean to kill--I did not wish to kill-- [This is after Barnes has transformed into a bug-like creature, I imagine this with a raspy voice, but feel free to show other styles you think would fit. Also try some stereotypical bug-like monster noises such as "sskrrssss" or "hssss".]
Anna Maria is not focused on much in this part, however she will show up in later projects. She is tired, scared and desperate to survive.
(Panicked) Help, I beg you! [You're calling out into a forest.]
(Tired) I only have--but a little time... is anyone--oh! [You're losing hope until the last word when you notice someone.]
(Scared) Please, I haven’t much, but-- No, pray, do not touch m-- [Trying to back away from the hand reaching towards you.]
Lord Essex is the left hand of the king and takes his role seriously. He is a coward and in his scene is often shouting in fear.
(Angry) No! At such a… sinister hour you cannot see King James! [Stopping Angela & Serah from seeing King James. Emphasis on the words in bold.]
(Panic) Angela! You’ve killed the king! Regicide! Traitor! Heresy! [Angela has just stabbed King James, Lord Essex is scared and angry at Angela. Emphasis on the word in bold.]
(Sad & tired) The king is dead. Long live the king. Whoever that is. [They have just killed King James after he turned into a Witchbreed, Lord Essex is tired from the evenings events and doesn't know what to do next.]
A minor tavern goer, he's likely had more than a few pints at this point.
(Happy) Lady Serah! Hunting hides tonight? [Calling over to Serah as she enters the tavern.]
(Flirtatious) Aye, I might fit that description. [Bantering with Serah. Emphasis on the bold word "I".]
John Spenser is one of the tavern goers that Serah banters with, he is likely very drunk at this point.
(Jokingly) You are better than Drummond for gossip, Lady Serah. [John is drunk and trying to jokingly compliment Serah.]
Thomas Dekker is another tavern goer that banters with Serah when she arrives, he is also very drunk.
(Joking) Never trust a man who would sooner write than drink. He never blots a line, though I say better that he had blotted a thousand. [Responding to Serah's comments about William Shakespeare with a joke.]
A playwright in the tavern who seems to know more about people than others realise. He is somewhat socially inept, not being aware of others during his conversations until he wants them to speak.
(Excited) Like Doctor Faustus and Mephistopheles. Perhaps you do not know, dear lady, but I have written a play of that very name-- [Kit is not aware of Angela's input into this conversation, he's just happy to talk about his play.]
(Inquisitve) Lady Serah knows me well. But she does not know me so well, I think, as she knows you. Or as well as you would have her know you. [Kit is very hesitant to trust Angela, especially with someone like Serah who he's come to consider a friend. Emphasis on the words in bold.]
(Scared) That woman… Angela… Serah, she can only lead you down a dark path. [Kit has seen what Angela's life is like and is begging Serah not to go with her, otherwise it could lead to her own darkness.]
Benjamin is very no nonsense and doesn't like to be lied to or have information kept from him.
(Panicked) Excuse me, Lady Serah, you come late from Windsor Castle, do you not? I have heard but dire tidings… they say the king is slain. [Benjamin is trying to keep his voice down so others will not overhear but is evidently worried about the news.]
(Annoyed) We are the only ones in this tavern, madam, who know that women though you two may be… you are no ladies. [Benjamin is annoyed at Serah trying to avoid his questioning. Emphasis on the words in bold.]
Mother Abbess is the leader of the Holy Order that Angela & Serah are a part of. She is a woman who commands respect from any who speak to her.
(Rallying/Angry) Sisters! All of England shall perish if we do not fight the rising tide of evil that is preying on our land! Hunt down the Witchbreed--and root them out! [Mother Abbess is speaking to her Witch Hunters trying to rally them and increase their morale, giving them an inspiring speech.]

(Scared) Well, that’s me. [Scared of what's happened, he and his friend are getting up to leave the tavern.]

(Shakily agreeing) Oh. Well then, Witchbreed if I ever saw one. [She's agreeing with Serah's evidence, partly because she believes it and partly because she just wants this night to be over.]
