Role went to: J Dodgson

Magneto is a mutant who has experienced so much pain and trauma in his life, from experiencing oppression and subjugation from homo-saipens and has witnessed that same terror pressed onto others. It manifests as anger and hatred of all humankind. He's also clever, conniving, suave, and can manipulate others to his side by using their shared struggle against them

For this role, I need someone who can convey all of that pain and suffering into words while also sounding charming enough to be a convincing villain. Sort of like a wise but clearly sinister grandfather in a sense.

As with all these auditions, I don't mind if someone does their own interpretation of this character rather than trying to sound EXACTLY LIKE the movie version.

The sides they read from:
  • [To Senator Kelly] Are you a God-fearing man, Senator? It's such a strange phrase. I've always thought of God as a teacher. As a bringer of light, wisdom and understanding. You see, l think what you really are afraid of is me. Me and my kind. The brotherhood of mutants. It's not so surprising, really. Mankind has always feared what it doesn't understand. Well, don't fear God, Senator, and certainly don't fear me. Not any more.

  • [Monolouge to Rouge after telling her why he's going to kill her] first saw her in 1949. America was going to be the land of tolerance. Peace...there is no land of tolerance. There is no peace. Not here, or anywhere else. Whole families destroyed, simply because they were born different from those in power. Well, after tonight, the world's powerful will be just like us. They will return home as brothers, as mutants. Our cause will be theirs. Your sacrifice will mean our survival. l'll understand if that comes as small consolation.

  • [Dejected but inquisitive, to Charles Xaiver] Doesn't it ever wake you in the middle of the night? The feeling that someday they will pass that foolish law, or one just like it, and come for you and your children?
