Zendikar Rising: Hunger
Project Overview
Wizards of the Coast has begun releasing online web fiction for Magic: the Gathering once again! It is our goal on the Voice of All podcast to bring these stories to life through audio.
This week we are casting for roles in the Zendikar Rising side story Hunger. Zendikar is a dangerous world of wild magic and daring adventure. You can read the story here:

If you're interested in hearing our past works, you can listen to all of them here:

We can also be found on Spotify, Soundcloud, Stitcher, YouTube, iTunes, and Google Podcasts! We are looking to keep up with the release of Wizards' stories as best as possible and will release our version the second following Friday, so expect to be cast this week and have your lines to me within a few days. This schedule may be slightly different for the time being as they are releasing two stories a week, but our schedule will remain one a week.
As a general casting note, I do not typically have any voice requirements in mind for characters. I would much rather hear your interpretations and choose from among them.

Called the Ruin sage by many, this vampire was for many years a renowned expert on the ancient places of Zendikar. But his reputation has soured for many reasons. It was earned through frequent acts of treachery and murder and his last major expedition led to the release of the eldrazi. He now travels to the newly risen skyclaves with any group that will still take him in search of power, both to regain his status and to help rebuild Ravnica. Anowon is crafty and clever and honestly a bit contrite about his past actions, accepting extra work and insults if it means he'll get where he needs to be.
"Whatever you think of me, all I ask is to study the thing. You can do with another member in any case. Allow me to fill that void."
[excited] "I've been studying the tessellations that adventurers have noted at the other locations and noticed a subtle distinction in their patterns. I suspect this is text."
[calmly, with a small hint of warning] "We made an arrangement, Tarsa. This is just for research, I assure you."
An unnamed man in town to hire an adventuring crew for some other unnamed man. He is pompous, probably because he's carrying around far too much money, but has no experience or fighting ability to back up his false bravado.
"No need for pleasantries. I am no one of note—simply the traveling voice of a benefactor eager to employ you."
[on hearing a member of the party died recently in Ondu] "That's a shame, I imagine. By which I mean, it's ironic that I've come to offer a job in Ondu—a job my employer knows is tremendously dangerous."
"Grakmaw, they call it. That is, in fact, your quarry. It's been troubling the vertical travel routes in the area, which isn't good for the business of expeditions. My client will pay whatever price you name, if you win your second round."
The leader of the best adventuring crew in Nimana, Tarsa is an accomplished swordsman. He's level-headed but eager to get vengeance for a comrade who died recently.
[sad and frustrated, but trying not to let that get to him so they can get this job] "We . . . lost one of our own in a trip to Ondu. But you need not worry about our work on account of it, sir."
[telling the vampire to go explore but be safe] "Go on. And for your own sake, call for help when you see it, not when it sees you."
[angry] "Damned sage! After all you've told us, you should damn well know we can't let you leave with any of these poisons."
The kor mage of Tarsa's crew. They're hot-tempered and NOT a fan of Anowon in the slightest, but if you need a monster blasted with fire, they'll get the job done. Their pet gnarlid Jolly follows them everywhere.
[Nonbinary actors preferred where possible, but all are welcome to audition!]
[proud] "Where do you plan to send the best expeditionary crew Nimana has to offer, sir?
[shouting at Anowon] "What is wrong with you, sage? Did you forget that our job is to clear a hydra out of those ruins?"
[angry, fighting back tears for a lost friend] "That damned . . . thing . . . dragged him here . . . tore him up . . ."
The elven cleric of the adventuring party. Eret is quiet and wary, but generally good-natured.
[grappling with Anowon] Boss! Looks like we got ourselves a spy!"
"If there's anything we climbers know about ourselves, it's that the only thing worth knowing is the touch of a sturdy rope and the gleam of a good trinket. You sure you can trust us to" [gesturing at the wall, incredulous] "translate ancient kor?"
[generous] "Of course not. We split the weight. After all, now it's our fastest way down."
