YuYu Hakusho Abridged
Project Overview
We're seeking voice actors for our YuYu Hakusho Abridged project! We're looking for actors with great comedic timing and feel, while still keeping the emotional core of these characters in tact. Versatility! We heavily encourage improv and would love to see what you can offer!
Must be okay with some swearing, nothings set in stone, but we're sure its going to come up.
Please have discord because that's mainly how we'll communicate!

Lead Role
Angry, hotheaded, having a rough time and ready to take it out on anyone who adds on, yet still has a heart of gold underneath. We're looking for someone who can do all this and tack on a sense of childlike wonder for this role. Looking for a Brooklyn/ General New York accent to really hit that punky greaser esthetic, if you've got your own take or a good Urameshi impression, though, dont shy away!

Deadpan, snarky, holier than thou attitude. Looks down on his friends and all mortals in general, theres still a sense of good buried way, way, way deep inside. Not alot to change with Hiei with this one, if you have an authentic impression of him lets hear it!

"I'm just saying, if you allow me to turn green one more time, I'll turn him to ash, and never ask again... Fine let's call a vote."
*Double up on the Kuwabara insults! You're Hiei after all, let him know how you view him*

Supporting Role
Yusuke's closest friend and only sort of guide he has. Confident and stands her ground, but still has a soft spot for Yusuke, often arguing with him to try to get him onto the right path. Higher pitched younger voice.

Ruler of the spirit realm. All business with just a fringe of unrealized ridiculousness, a cartoonish voice put over no non-sense lines. Sounding like you have a pacifier in your mouth without losing any understandability would be a nice touch!

A demon that Yusuke is sent to hunt down on his first mission. Big, gruff, battle ready type.
"Don't feel bad kid. I'm much more polite than those two brats. I'll turn myself in nice and neat, if I can't rip off your head."
"Do you know what the best spices for a soul are? Some fear and a dash of pain."
"O...Okay Kurama. I was just jokin'. I'm sure you'll be fine to work with, for awhile."
Voice Actor
Yusuke's mother, who is stricken by grief from her son's death. She wants nothing more than for her son to be better than her, she's a heavy drinker and is watching Yusuke go down the wrong path for his life. Obviously, not all we'll have you do given it's an abridged, but it is important that you know, and can perform that.

The gruff principal at Yusuke's school, he acts tough on him but wants what's best for him.

"Oh well, I guess there aren't many things you CAN do right."
"And what's really painful is that you were so close! But I'm afraid a promise is a promise, young man. I'll go notify Okubo's employers."

Another Scheming teacher at Yusuke's school.
"Yes. And from the way that boy acted at Yusuke's wake, he's clearly a punk who can't resist a fight. This way we can expel him permanently."
"Let me show you a different method of grading. You see, Mr. Akashi? There really wasn't an answer written there. You've made a mistake."
Voice Actor
We need a couple of voice actors with some great range to portray many of the background voices that'll show up through the series. Plenty of other high schoolers, gang members, and demons that show up throughout the series for just a line or two! Please show your range with these in your seperate takes! Thanks!
"Haven't you heard the new rumor? Urameshi commands a gang of 2,000 merciless killers and can summon them with just a whistle!"
*Nervous* "Yes sir! Sorry Koenma, sir! Won't happen again sir!"
"Heh heh... I told them I was the cousin of the great Urameshi and they just handed their wallets over! What fools!"
