Project Overview
A school so magical, it feels like a dream…,
Emily had sworn that she’d just fallen asleep in her bed before she woke up in a desk at Sweet Dreams Academy- an abandoned school that had been built in rural Japan, secluded from the rest of the world. Alongside 15 other students who have been claimed as “Ultimates”, just like her, she’s forced to learn to survive in a school where you could never see the light of day again.
Welcome to Yumeronpa! This Fanganronpa contains heavy topics as seen in other Danganronpa games, and aren’t meant for the faint of heart. So please, don’t join if you have issues with death, death related triggers, drvgs, and existential dread.
These VA auditions are open to everyone 13+. We are not against speech impediments, accents, or anything else that people discriminate. However, please include your discord user in your auditions so we know who to contact in the event that we need to hear more from you. Thank you!

Emily Mays is the only American in the cast, and it shows in everything- her clothes, her hair, her interests, and even her personality. She’d sweet and funny, and gets along with everyone, but sometimes finds it hard to not talk about people behind their back. She’s definitely extroverted, even if she isn’t the usual loud girl who always speaks her mind. She loves going out to do things like party with friends or relax at a coffee shop. Overall, she’s laid-back and positive, and amazing as the protagonist of the series.
Emily's voice is a mid to high pitch. Her voice is soft and friendly, a very welcoming tone to her speech. For this role, I'll also accept European accents.

(Friendly) Oh, hello there! My name's Emily, and I'm the Ultimate Exchange Student! I hope we can grow to be good friends. I know I'm the only American here, but how different does that make us? We're still peers.
(Confused) So... let me get this straight. In Japan, people would call you Uyemura, because that's your last name? But your first name's Hana? That's- oh- uh-huh- what- you lost me. I'm just going to call everyone by their first names. Sorry, Hana!
(Offensive) No! That's not right at all! Have you met the guy? He wouldn't be caught dead carrying shoes around- he's wayyy too much of a germaphobe! But you know who would? You.
As the Ultimate Gardener, Tetsuya Saeki grows a lot of… stuff he shouldn’t. And even if it’s illegal, he makes a profit off of growing and selling the… stuff he shouldn’t. He also smokes the… stuff he shouldn’t. All the time. That’s his whole personality! You get the point. If you don’t, here’s more description! Tetsuya is a very spaced out and off topic person. He doesn’t really participate in meaningful and serious conversations, favoring the sanctuary of his own head over whatever it is that he doesn’t pay attention to. The only thing he really cares about other than his… stuff he shouldn’t grow is his younger sister, Sachiko. The two of them have been two peas in a pod, and are really close! If you’re not his sister, then he’s got better fish to fry, or better… stuff he shouldn’t have to sell.
Tetsuya’s voice is on the lower side, but not too low. When he talks, he sounds very spaced out and distant, clearly elsewhere in his head. I’d also love to see him with a slight rasp, but that’s optional.

(Panicked, but also not) Holy shiit dude… I just realized somethiiiing… so uhh… lamps are uhh… actually used by theee… governmeeeent… to brainwash us intooo… doing stuffff… crazy… huhhh..?
Sachiko Saeki’s the youngest in the cast, which is veeery apparent. She didn’t meet the age requirement, but managed to persuade her older brother, Tetsuya, to ask if she could come with him. She loves her brother more than anything in the world! Given that she isn’t the most mature mentally compared to the others in the cast, she still tries to fit in. She knows it’s hard, especially when she doesn’t know what to talk about other than flowers, her day, and Tetsuya. She can be a little bash at times, and really cooperative at others. She cares about everyone in the cast, despite being intimidated by everyone, but she cares about her brother the most. As long as you leave her brother alone, Sachiko will be your best friend!
Sachiko’s the youngest in the cast, so she definitely will sound more childish. Not like a little kid, but still a higher pitched voice that’s a little annoying and whiny, but also sweet and naïve.

(Excited) Oh wow you’re really, really tall! Okay! Uhm- hello!! My name’s Sachiko! Sachiko Saeki- Ultimate Florist! Wowzers, I’m soo excited to meet you. Are you excited? Y’know, my brother’s here! His name’s Tetsuya, but I call him Tetsu! SAY HI, TETSUUU!!!
(Happy) Oh! These are some of my favorite flowers. They’re peonies! There’s a lot that grow back in my hometown, so I know a lot about them. They typically resemble shyness and bashfulness, but these ones are pink! This means that they stand for good luck and prosperity. Cool, huh?
(Annoyed) Tetsuuu! Stop it! You know that isn’t good for you! And don’t give me that “ohhhh its an addictionnn” bull. I’ve seen so many people online stop smoking. Why can’t you? No- How did you even get it here of all places?!?!
Airi Yano, the ultimate Matchmaker, is the tallest of the cast, being around 5’7. She’s also the only African in the cast, being born from Two Africans in her hometown of South Japan. She’s really big about how people are as a person, rather than focusing on looks or mistakes. She applies this to herself, giving her a sense of confidence. She tries to be the best version of herself, not caring if her pants are too short or if her socks don’t match. However, she’s very much a people pleaser who wants to be everybody’s best friend. She’s like a big teddy bear, tall, strong, and confident, but all soft and cuddly at the same time. If you want to make a quick friend, Airi’s always there!
Airi, being African, is meant to be played by a voice actor of color. If this isn’t a possibility, I understand, but it would be nice. She’d naturally have a medium to low voice, as does most. Other than that, no limitations! Have fun with this gal.

(Concerned) Okay, but- are you sure you’re happy around her? I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t think the two of you should be together. Not only do your star signs clash, but she’s awfully posessive of you and I can tell how uncomfortable it makes you. If you need a third wheel to end the relationship, I’m here for you, but… don’t let her boss you around like that. It’s not cool.
(Appalled to Panicked) I’m sorry- repeat yourself? I don’t think I heard you right. You- you said that this was a killing game?! No. I’m not killing anyone. Sorry! As cool as you are, you can kiss my sorry- AAH! LET GO OF ME!
Ren Matsuura is the Ultimate Music Producer. How did he get this talented, perhaps? Simple- by not leaving his house for four years straight, doing almost nothing but composing music and drinking protein shakes. This has left him almost unable to function in society, at least on a social aspect. He rarely talks, and when he does, it’s blunt and makes almost zero sense. There include other things, such as how to properly be trans, funnily enough. However, he still identifies as a boy and does what he can to feel gender euphoria. He stays to himself, mainly because he feels embarrassed around others. However, once he does find someone to interact with, he’ll cling to it like he has nothing else to cling to.
Ren Matsuura is Trans, Female to Male, so a trans actor would be greatly appreciated. But in this day in age, I understand if I'm asking too much. His voice is a medium low pitch, and sounds kind of tired. The more awkward he sounds, the better! Don't forget that he hasn't really talked to anyone in a hot minute.

(Scared) I-I do not... not want to do t-that... I think people are sc-scary enough alive... and-and for them to- to be dead..? Eep..!
(Nervous) You are... uhh... really good at that. How do you not forget it..? Can you... can you teach me that..? That way... if you forget... I can help you re... remember..!
Aiko Omori is the ultimate Somnologist, which means she studies sleep and sleep patterns. This has made her more used to nocturnal sleeping patterns that humans don’t usually adapt to have. During the day, when Aiko’s gotten used to sleeping, she’s often very tired and sporting a “get-to-the-point” attitude. This is mainly due to a broken sleep schedule, which is very understandable. During the nighttime, she’s very observant and attentive. Her funny sleep schedule also gives her some funny habits that affect the way she looks. She doesn’t eat breakfast, which makes her thin. She’s grown to hate breakfast. As well as that, her rarely sleeping while at Sweet Dreams Academy and struggling to fix her sleep schedule gives her some nasty eyebags and slight fatigue.
Aiko Omori has a slight rasp, lower female voice, and usually sounds half asleep. She sounds kind of monotone, like she doesn't care about anything. That's roughly 75% of her attitude. The other 25%, she sounds like a normal human being with less rasp and more energy, even if her voice is still really low. She needs to be this versatile if you want the role.

(Sleepy) Yawn... I'm Aiko Omori. I'm the Ultimate Somnologist. I basically just study people's sleeping patterns, especially those with things like Narcolepsy. You'd be surprised how well-paying of a job it is.
(Annoyed) You woke me up for this..? I was getting some pretty damn good sleep... and to wake me up over breakfast- okay. Here's what we are going to do. You all... have fun, be crazy, whatever. And I will go back to bed. Goodnight.
(Factual) Well according to what Mr. Stuffed Animal Guy or whatever- I was getting some shut eye when he said his name- CLEARLY SAID that you're not allowed to do that. So why haven't you gotten killed? Punished? Ridiculed in the slightest of ways? Maybe because you're in on something. Could be a stretch, but I have more evidence.
Hana Uyemura is the Ultimate Journalist. She loves writing, loves talking, and loves drama. The more gossip there is, the more she can write about! She’s very extroverted- talking to everyone and trying to worm out their secrets and insecurities. And vise versa, she loves to talk about the latest drama. Anything related to relationships, hatred, murder plans, whatever- she’s your girl. However, that isn’t all there is to her. Her most prized possession is her boyfriend, Daisuke. While it’s unknown how long exactly they’ve been dating, they clearly trust each other with everything, from their money, to their secrets, to their lives. Their relationship definitely isn’t the healthiest, but they’re happy on the outside. And that’s all that matters to Hana.
Hana's voice is medium to high pitch, and she kind of sounds like a bitch. That rhymed, by the way. UHHH She both loves and hates everyone, which shows in the tone of her voice. The only exception is when she's talking to Daisuke, in which she just sounds like a hopeless romanic.

Shigeo's voice is welcoming to any male range, but I would like it a little rough. If that's a possibility, then great! If not, I understand. Just have fun with him.

Yoichi Tahara’s known as the Ultimate Bartender, but his specialty is specifically is making more Tropical drinks. Being half Hawaiian and half Japanese, he grew up on one of the most populated beaches in Japan. That’s where he got a knack for things like bartending and attempting to surf. He’s got a really chill personality, but knows when to get serious about things. He isn’t a big fan of conflict, and hates it when people get into physical fights. So just don’t punch him in the face, and you’re good to go!
Yoichi's voice is medium to high pitch, and has a nice chill tone to it. He doesn't really express negativity, given his heavy optimism and good vibes.

Naoko Kuramoto is… a bit of a creep. She’s obsessive, stalkery, and compulsive. She’s always got that unfocused look in her eyes, and a constant tremble to her fingers. Rather than have a personality of her own, she bases her life off of someone else. In this case, she decided to focus her everything on Koji Iwai, the Ultimate Author. This gives her a love for books and fantasy that she’d never exhibited before. Around anyone other than Koji, she’s quiet and slightly aggressive. But around Koji, she’s flirtatious and clingy. The contrast is amusing. With little she will share about her past, it’s hard to tell what causes her to be the way she is. But, unless you get in the way of her and Koji, she’s nothing to be scared of.
Naoko's Voice can be any range, but I'd love her to sound as insane as possible. Whatever that means you have to do, do it. Thank you!! Mwah mwah

Daisuke has a bit of a higher voice, but not too high. His voice is kind of soft too, really pleasing to hear. He has a canonical girlfriend for a reason.

(Excited) You mean we get our own rooms! That's so exciting. I shared a bed with my sisters at my house, so I never had any personal space, but now- wait. I'm rambling again, aren't I..? Aughh.

Just like candy, Kaoru Kawashima is as sweet as they come! It’s very fitting for the Ultimate Candymaker. She doesn’t really have life bad, given the Willy Wonka-esque life she has, making it nearly impossible to see the bad in anything! This mindset, however… doesn’t really work well in a killing game. But don’t worry! She’ll make it work! She does whatever she can to make whatever anybody wants happen, not giving up until she physically can’t go any further. Her determination is admirable, yet also frowned upon. ‘Tis the life of a girl as happy-go-lucky as Kaoru.
Kaoru's voice is really sweet- high, airy, and like stepping on a cotton candy cloud. She sounds very happy, and is the vocal equivalent of a jolly rancher.
