YouTube Air Crash Investigation - Sukhoi 36801
Project Overview
Sukhoi 36801 was a demonstration flight of a new Russian aircraft, the Sukhoi Superjet, which occurred on the 9th of May 2012. After taking off from Jakarta, Indonesia. It flew to the South West. Before the pilots decided to descend to 6000 feet. With no terrain information on their charts, they flew into cloud and shortly after received numerous alerts from the “terrain awareness warning system”. However, these were ignored, believed to be false alarms. 2 minutes later the Superjet crashed into the side of Mt Salak, an eroded volcano located to the south west of Jakarta.
