Hello everyone!

 

My name, (er, username,) is Sword of Swords, and this is my first project I’ve posted on Casting Call Club, though I’ve been a member for a while! I’m looking to work on my video and audio editing skills, and I recently inspired by E3 to dub the trailers for a game I’m personally very excited for.

 

The game in question, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, is an upcoming Nintendo Switch game developed by Monolith Soft and serves as the third game in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, preceded by Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X. While the information released so far has been sparse, the premise of the game is that a young “Driver” (Warriors imbued with power from Blades) named Rex teams up with a “Blade” (Artificial beings created and summoned when a Driver touches a Core Crystal,) named Pyra to find Elysium, the mythical paradise where humans were once said to dwell. Of course, knowing the series and creators, the story will likely not be quite that simple.

 

As for this project itself, I intend to dub the two trailers of the game released so far, those being the reveal trailer during the Nintendo Switch event, and the official trailer released just recently at E3. Both trailers are quite short and only feature a handful of lines, so this will be a low-commitment project with a quick turnaround. I will be playing Rex, (I'm the worst, I know,) but there are five other speaking roles up for grabs, including the heroine, Pyra. As 3/5 of the speaking characters only have 1-3 lines each, it is completely possible that I can use your audition lines and you’ll be done right off of the bat! Naturally, if any future trailers are released I’m open to dubbing them, and I will ask the members of this project to reprise their roles before I cast them alongside new ones. The finished product will be posted to my YouTube channel.

 

I hope to get some great auditions! I'll give feedback to anyone who asks for it.

    Thank you all so much! When I first posted this project, I was worried that I wasn't going to get even ten auditions. But with almost fifty, I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. More than that, I got nearly fifty QUALITY auditions. so my decision was a difficult one, especially with the more prominent characters. Even if you weren't cast, I hope you aren't discouraged. Every audition is one step closer to improvement! For those who were cast, I will message each of you with the script and the videos again.   • Great Auditions so Far!

    Just wanted to pop in and say that I'm thrilled with the quality of auditions so far! As my first casting call, I didn't expect much of a turnout, especially with a short, relatively-niche project, but I'm pleasantly surprised! I won't be casting before the deadline, so I hope to hear more awesome auditions!

         From the Xenoblade wiki: Rex is the main protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He is a Driver who harnesses the power of a Blade named Pyra. Together with Pyra, he goes on a quest to find her long-lost home, Elysium. Rex can also drive the Blades Fudor and Kirim."
 
         Rex so far seems to be a typical, hot-blooded Shonen protagonist. He seems to like adventure, and he is determined to find Eysium alongside of Pyra. I imagine he will have more depth than that, but for now that seems to be his characterization.
 
         As for his voice, I have opted to voice him myself, which I suppose is a little bit selfish. However, if I feel that I am unwilling to meet the standard of quality met by those I cast, I will relinquish the role. As a sign of good faith, I have included an example of my voice for him.

From the Xenoblade wiki: Pyra (Japanese: ホムラ, Homura) is a Blade in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. She has the power to grant tremendous power to her Driver named Rex. Pyra and Rex embark on a journey to search for her long-lost home, Elysium. It is said that she is immortal and has the ability to recover from injuries quickly. However, she can die if the core on her chest is destroyed or when Rex dies.

For her voice, I’m rather open to most interpretations. Her English voice seems a bit too mature for me at the moment, so perhaps something closer to her Japanese voice would work? Let’s say a medium to medium-high female voice.

  • (Serious/slightly hesitant) As the driver of the Aegis (pronounced ee-jis), can you...take me to Elysium? (pronounced ee-lee-zee-um)

  • (Defiantly) I won’t use that power! And I won’t let you use it either!!

Not much is known about her yet, though she seems to be a Blade similar to Pyra as she has a similar crystal on her chest. She seems to be on a certain mission involving Pyra, as in the newest trailer she says that she is more than she appears. If I were to guess, I'd say she'll be a mysterious, plot-important character with a link to the main antagonist.


For a voice, I would like a fairly mature, medium-pitch female voice. I really like the Irish accent, (I believe,) that her English VA does, so if you can imitate that, amazing. However, I don’t want any “leprechaun” voices, so please stick to your regular voice if you aren’t confident in that!

    (Not his real name) A mysterious, masked individual that seems to be in a antagonistic relationship with Rex and the others. He seems to be a competent warrior, and clearly knows more than he lets on. Based on the way he challenges Rex’s convictions, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned out to be more of a rival character.

         For his voice, I’m thinking a medium to medium-low voice. He should speak clearly and confidently like he does in both English and Japanese, with plenty of conviction.

(Obviously not his real name.) A large man with a fauxhawk who seems to be an antagonist. He fights against Rex and Pyra, and seems to be threatened by Rex’s sword/Pyra. I interpret him, based on the scarce information, to be the strong, boisterous type.

      For his voice, I’m thinking a low-pitched voice, perhaps gruff. He should sound aggressive and cocky, without being over-the-top. This is a bit different than what is heard in the trailer, but I think it might be more fitting.

  (My fake names are getting a little silly.) An antagonistic-seeming character who fights Rex and co. in the trailer. Quite frankly, I’m not 100% sure he’s the one who says the line due to the montage of characters it shows when the line is said, but it seems to be him since he’s the last to be shown.

 

Voice-wise, I’m thinking a medium-low voice. In the trailer he seems to have an accent, and I would honestly enjoy any sort of Cockney or Scottish accent for him. But once again, I don’t want any caricatures, so stick to your strengths!
