WTHIH-Storyboard Sequence
Project Overview
This role is an opportunity to explore a wide emotional range. You'll get to portray the character's fear and desperation as they fight to reach someone they care about, then experience their genuine happiness at almost feeling acceptance and respect, before everything goes wrong.
I'm looking for an actor who enjoys finding the humanity beneath a larger-than-life character: the pauses, the uncertainty, the moments of sincerity, and the emotions that don't always come out the way a person intends.
You won't need to imitate an established character or fit a rigid vocal template. I'm excited to collaborate with an actor who can bring their own interpretation to my characters while helping me discover how they sound and feel.
If you enjoy emotionally layered characters, dramatic contrasts, and supporting a future showrunner, this might be the role for you!
ROLE: MAL / MALUM
Role: Lead character; 2 projects
Character age: 22
Voice preference: Masculine-sounding voice
Vocal direction: Grounded, expressive, and character-driven. Open to a range of masculine vocal pitches, accents, and textures.
Mal was an aspiring villain who, unfortunately, was thrust into the role of the Chosen Hero, the savior of the world.
They had an idea of who they wanted to become, only to find themselves in a world where they are expected to fulfill an enormous, predetermined role. They are supposed to be the perfect savior: the one who unites the world, defeats the Great Evil, and gives everyone their happy ending.
The problem is that Mal is ill-suited to be a storybook hero.
Their existence is shaped by expectations they never agreed to, and their growing reputation as a miraculous, almost flawless figure threatens to overshadow the person they actually are. They want to be respected, to belong, and to have meaningful relationships, but they also want to be recognized as themselves, not as the role the world has assigned them.
Mal's relationship with heroism is complicated. They learn to genuinely care about people and want to help, even as they resent the expectations placed upon them. They can be courageous without being fearless, compassionate without being endlessly selfless, and powerful without having everything figured out.
Mal's central conflict is the struggle between being the person they want to be and being the person everyone else needs them to be.
What I'm looking for in a voice actorI'm looking for an actor who can give Mal a masculine voice while preserving their vulnerability, individuality, and emotional complexity.
Mal shouldn't sound like a conventional, confident fantasy hero. Their voice should feel human, with a natural theatrical twang fit for a rookie villain turned hero.
I'm not looking for a specific imitation of an existing character or celebrity. I want an original interpretation that feels right for Mal.

Panicked, in pain: "Wait, you can't stay here! Look at what she did to me!"
Give me your best maniacal laugh.
Sarcastic, dry: "It's not my 'prophetic duty.' I'm just getting this over with so I can get back to my villainous life. I'm a freelancing hero, for the time being."
ROLE 2 — AMELIA
Character: A young UnderOaths medic
Age: 15–16
Voice: Open to interpretation
Who she is:
Amelia is a compassionate, capable young medic with electro kinesis. She cares deeply about the people around her, but her kindness should never be mistaken for weakness or a lack of agency.
She's accustomed to being treated as fragile, yet she is willing to make difficult decisions and put herself between someone she cares about and danger. She can be frightened and exhausted without giving up.
Performance direction:
I'm looking for warmth, sincerity, emotional intelligence, and determination. Amelia should sound like a teenager, not an adult imitating a stereotypical little girl. Her reassurance can be gentle, but her resolve should feel real. In action scenes, I'd love to hear the transition between concern for Mal, the urgency of fighting, and the strain of pushing herself too hard.
Scene:
Amelia intervenes during Valeska's attack on Mal. She tries to protect Mal while managing her own fear and exhaustion.

Reassuring: "Hey. Look at me. We're getting out of this together."
Desperate: "Please, just let me do this for you both."
Angry, in pain: "I'm fine!"
ROLE 3 — LUDOVIQUE
Character: Lord of Entertainment; leader of the Merry Go Round Menagerie
Age: Elder 50-60
Voice: Open to interpretation; I'm interested in distinctive, theatrical character voices. I personally imagine her with a raspy voice.
Who she is:
Ludovique is a commanding, larger-than-life figure who presides over a macabre circus-like world of spectacle and entertainment. She is theatrical, imposing, and deeply invested in performance.
She understands how to control a room and turn even a serious moment into a show. Beneath that theatricality, however, is someone capable of making a moment of acceptance feel genuine, even when that acceptance is tangled up in her own ideas about spectacle, succession, and control.
Performance direction:
I'm looking for theatricality with precision. Ludovique should be able to command an audience, relish a dramatic announcement, and make her words feel carefully presented.
However, please don't play her as a generic cartoon villain. Her warmth should feel believable, even when there's something unsettling about the circumstances. She needs to be able to shift from celebratory showmanship to a quieter, emotionally meaningful goodbye.
Her life is a performance from the start to the end; make me feel it.
