The Legacy of Cybertron takes place within my own Transformers universe during the War Era of Cybertron, before the launch of both the Ark and the Nemesis.
You'll still see plenty of familiar characters that we all know and love, but they're not necessarily the main focus of this story. Instead, the story follows a group of teenage Cybertronian younglings who are forced to experience the realities of the war firsthand. And that's really where the heart of this series comes from.
It's about how war tests their morals, challenges their strength, affects their relationships, and ultimately shapes who they become later in life. Through their eyes, you'll see Cybertron as a world where safety is no longer guaranteed and where simply surviving another day can become a struggle.
One of the biggest inspirations behind this idea actually came from something I noticed while reading and watching different stories about war. A lot of those stories are understandably told through the perspective of adults. We see the soldiers fighting in it, the civilians trying to survive it, the people trying to stop it, and even the people responsible for causing it.
But it made me wonder...
What about the children? What goes through a child's mind when something like this is happening around them?
How do they understand a war that they never asked to be part of?
How does a traumatic event change the way they see themselves, the people around them, or even the world they grew up believing was safe?
And what happens when they're forced to grow up much faster than they should, while still holding onto some of that childhood innocence and naivety?
Those questions became a huge part of what I wanted The Legacy of Cybertron to explore. These characters aren't soldiers at the beginning of their story. They're younglings. They have friendships, families, fears, flaws, and their own ideas of what they think is right and wrong.
But as the war continues, those beliefs are going to be challenged.
Throughout the series, you'll get to watch these younglings grow and change as they experience different sides of the conflict. They'll make mistakes. They'll question themselves and the bots around them. Some may have completely different views of the war than others. And ultimately, they'll have to discover what kind of bots they want to become in a world that doesn't always give them much of a choice.

Inspired VA: Zach Callison ( Dick Grayson - Injustice)
Whirlwind possesses a strong moral compass and a genuine desire to help others. Like Orion Pax, he believes people deserve second chances and tries to see the good in everyone. He's patient, compassionate, and often serves as the voice of reason within the group.
However, he also possesses some of Elita-1's practicality and determination. While he wants to believe the best in others, he's not naïve. He understands that difficult decisions sometimes have to be made and isn't afraid to make them when necessary. Many of the younger bots naturally look to him for guidance without him ever asking for it. He doesn't seek leadership, but leadership often finds him.
Whirlwind prefers inspiring others rather than commanding them. He listens before speaking, considers multiple perspectives, and genuinely wants what's best for everyone involved.

Inspired VA: Ashley Johnson
Novastra is confident, capable, and often the first to take charge during a crisis. Like Elita-1, she's practical, decisive, and action-oriented. She focuses on solving problems rather than dwelling on them. Unlike Whirlwind, who tends to inspire others through compassion, Novastra leads through action and results. She isn't afraid to challenge someone's decisions if she believes they're making a mistake. Her Orion Pax side shows through her deep care for others and her belief that people can become better versions of themselves.

Inspired VA: AJ LoCascio (Gambit)
Jackhammer is adventurous, confident, and fiercely independent. He has a natural talent for engineering and mechanics, always tinkering with gadgets, equipment, or projects that catch his interest. However, he doesn't like being stuck in a workshop all day. Like his father, Wheeljack, Jackhammer prefers action over sitting around discussing plans. If there's an adventure to be had, a challenge to overcome, or a risk worth taking, he's usually the first to volunteer.
He doesn't blindly follow rules and often believes results matter more than procedure. This occasionally puts him at odds with more disciplined younglings like Steelguard. Despite his carefree and rebellious nature, Jackhammer is incredibly loyal to his friends and family. He'll throw himself into danger without hesitation to protect someone he cares about. While he appears fearless, he secretly worries about letting others down, especially his siblings.

Inspired VA: Jack De Sena as Sokka, but softer
Blitz-Blade is energetic, approachable, and genuinely enjoys being around others. He can make friends with almost anyone and naturally brings people together. Like Bumblebee, he maintains a positive outlook even during difficult situations. Like Windblade, he's emotionally intelligent and understands how others are feeling.
He's a people pleaser at heart and hates disappointing others. Because of this, he often prioritizes everyone else's happiness before his own. Blitz-Blade is usually the first person willing to give someone a chance and one of the first younglings to befriend Delta despite Delta's defensive attitude.

Inspired VA: Sean Giambrone
Dust-Off loves learning about the world around him. He's curious, patient, and has a deep appreciation for nature, history, and different cultures. Like Hound, he's relaxed and easygoing. Like Greenlight, he's thoughtful, compassionate, and dependable. He's often the one encouraging others to slow down and appreciate things they might otherwise overlook. While not naturally confrontational, Dust-Off will stand up for others when necessary. His calm demeanor hides a surprising amount of courage.

Inspired VA: Steven Yeun ( Keith - Voltron)
Steelguard is disciplined, dependable, and protective. He takes responsibility seriously and often feels obligated to look after the other younglings. Like Ironhide, he's straightforward, courageous, and doesn't sugarcoat his opinions. Like Chromia, he's organized, highly capable, and focused on accomplishing the mission at hand. He can be intimidating at first, but those who know him understand he genuinely cares about his friends and family. He's often the one making sure everyone gets home safely.

Voice Inspired: TF One Elita-1
Elita-1 is strong-willed, intelligent, practical, and fiercely protective of those under her command. Where Optimus tends to lead through patience and ideals, Elita is more willing to confront difficult realities and make decisions quickly when lives are at stake. She can be stern and demanding, but her expectations come from genuine concern for the people around her. Beneath her hardened commander's exterior is someone deeply compassionate who refuses to let the war take away everything she loves.

Voice Inspired: Jay Kabira
Zer0 is serious, patient, secretive, and highly dedicated to his work, overseeing communications and coordinating sensitive Autobot operations. He normally maintains a calm, professional demeanor and rarely loses his composure, even when others become frustrated. Despite this, Zer0 isn't humorless; around those he trusts, he occasionally reveals a surprisingly playful and teasing side.
Zer0 believes strongly in completing the mission and protecting information that could threaten the Autobots if compromised.
Unfortunately, this can become one of his greatest flaws. He sometimes prioritizes the success of an operation over the physical or emotional wellbeing of those carrying it out, believing sacrifices may be necessary for Cybertron's greater good. This can make him secretive about information he believes others don't need to know.
However, Zer0 genuinely cares about the Autobots serving under him, creating an internal conflict between the commander responsible for completing the mission and the individual who wants everyone to come home alive. When his decisions cause harm, Zer0 is capable of recognizing his mistakes and taking responsibility for them.
At his best, he is an honorable commander learning that protecting Cybertron means protecting its people—not merely winning the war.
He also has a particular fondness for refined energon blends and can become surprisingly enthusiastic whenever someone brings him a new variety to try.

Voice Inspired: Aaron Veach (TFP: WC Trilogy)
Prowl is analytical, observant, disciplined, and highly strategic. He prefers thinking several steps ahead and rarely makes decisions without considering their potential consequences. His reserved demeanor can sometimes make him appear detached, particularly when compared to more expressive Autobots, but Prowl cares greatly about the success and survival of his team. He simply believes emotions cannot be allowed to interfere with necessary decisions during a crisis.

Voice Inspired: TFWoC Trilogy Hound
Hound is friendly, easygoing, curious, and dependable. An explorer at heart, he loves discovering unfamiliar places and learning about the worlds and cultures around him. He often notices beauty that other Autobots overlook because they're too focused on the war. Hound would much rather explore a peaceful wilderness than spend another day fighting Decepticons, but when someone is threatened, his relaxed demeanor gives way to the courage of an experienced soldier. He fights because he wants there to still be a world worth exploring when the war is finally over.

Inspired VA: Zeno Robinson (Cyborg - Young Justice)
Delta is quiet, observant, and naturally suspicious of others. Having grown up under the Decepticons, he struggles to trust the Autobots and often assumes there are hidden motives behind acts of kindness. He's constantly studying those around him, trying to determine who is genuine and who isn't.
At first, Delta can be difficult to deal with. He questions authority, ignores instructions, and constantly tests boundaries. He's attempted to escape, sneaks into places he's not supposed to be, and often keeps important information to himself. Most of his troublemaking comes from distrust and survival instincts rather than malice.
When confronted, Delta rarely backs down. Instead, he often responds with sarcasm, dry humor, or snarky remarks. His attitude serves as a shield to hide uncertainty and vulnerability. Beneath all his walls is a youngling who desperately wants friendship, guidance, and a place to belong.

A little creature minicon that hangs around with Delta for majority of the time. It is nonverbal and can make little noises based on emotion.
With these lines, the only ones you really need to read out is the ones with the quotes. Everything else is just narration to help give you an idea of their tone and behavior.

(Angry / Protective) Hopper releases a sharp warning screech followed by aggressive clicks and a rapidly buzzing growl—“SKRREE! K-K-K-KRRT! BRRRRZZZT-CHAK!”—making it unmistakably clear that he wants someone to stay away from Delta.
(Scared / Worried) Hopper begins with a small questioning chirp that gradually becomes a series of frightened, desperate cries—“Prrt?... Chrrp? Chrrp-chrrp?! Krrp! KRRRP!... Mrrrreee...” —as he desperately tries to get an unresponsive Delta to react.

Voice Inspired: TFP Megatron
Megatron is commanding, fearless, intelligent, and incredibly determined. He possesses the natural charisma of someone who once inspired others to fight for change, but years of war have hardened that passion into ruthlessness. He despises weakness, demands loyalty, and has little patience for failure. Beneath his anger and intimidating presence, however, remains the conviction that everything he has done has been necessary to build the Cybertron he believes should exist.

Voice Inspired: TFP Starscream
Starscream is intelligent, ambitious, theatrical, prideful, and opportunistic. He knows he is capable and desperately wants everyone else to acknowledge it. Although he can be cowardly when confronted by something overwhelmingly stronger than himself, Starscream is far from harmless; he is cunning, manipulative, and willing to wait for the perfect opportunity to gain an advantage. His dramatic personality and sharp tongue can make him entertaining, but beneath the theatrics is a genuinely dangerous Decepticon.

Voice Inspired: TFP Shockwave
Shockwave is calculating, brilliant, emotionally restrained, and relentlessly logical. He rarely raises his voice because he sees little purpose in emotional outbursts. Every situation is a problem to analyze, every failure provides additional data, and every individual can potentially become a useful variable. This makes Shockwave particularly unsettling: he doesn't necessarily act out of cruelty or anger. He can perform horrifying actions while discussing them with the same calm detachment he would use to describe an ordinary experiment.

Voice Inspired: TFP Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime is compassionate, patient, courageous, and deeply committed to protecting all Cybertronian life. Although he carries himself with the authority expected of a Prime, he does not consider himself above those he leads. He would rather inspire others than command them through fear and believes even enemies can be capable of change. Years of war have made him more solemn and cautious, but traces of the hopeful Orion Pax he once was remain beneath the responsibilities he carries.

Voice Inspired: A mix between TFP & Animated Ratchet
Ratchet is intelligent, stubborn, sarcastic, and deeply dedicated to his patients. Years spent repairing soldiers and watching friends return wounded have left him tired and occasionally short-tempered, particularly toward anyone who unnecessarily puts themselves in danger. He may complain constantly and possess very little patience for reckless behavior, but beneath the grumbling is an incredibly compassionate medic. Ratchet often shows affection through actions rather than words, making sure everyone around him is cared for even when he insists they're driving him insane.

Voice Inspired: TFP Ultra Magnus
Ultra Magnus is disciplined, serious, honorable, and devoted to maintaining order within the Autobots. He believes structure and protocol exist for a reason, especially during wartime, and can become frustrated with soldiers who disregard them. His rigid demeanor can make him appear cold or intimidating, but he takes the safety of those under his command extremely seriously. Magnus isn't without compassion—he simply has difficulty expressing it openly and tends to show that he cares through responsibility and action.

Voice Inspired: TFWoC 2010 Ironhide
Ironhide is tough, straightforward, courageous, and extremely protective of his fellow Autobots. He has little patience for unnecessary speeches or complicated solutions when a direct approach will work. His blunt demeanor and intimidating presence can make him seem harsh, but Ironhide cares deeply about his comrades and treats many of the younger Autobots with an almost parental protectiveness. He isn't afraid of a fight, but experience has taught him that getting everyone home matters more than proving how tough he is.

Jazz is confident, charismatic, adaptable, and effortlessly cool under pressure. He enjoys keeping morale high and often uses humor to break tension, but his relaxed personality should never be mistaken for carelessness. Jazz is an experienced operative who can become focused and dangerous the moment circumstances require it. He understands people extremely well and often knows when someone needs encouragement, space, or simply a reason to smile.

Voice Inspired: TFP - Dwayne Johnson Cliffjumper
Cliffjumper is bold, energetic, stubborn, and always ready to throw himself into the action. He's confident in his abilities and isn't easily intimidated, sometimes to the point of taking risks he probably shouldn't. Cliffjumper has a sharp sense of humor and enjoys getting under an opponent's plating, especially during a fight. Despite his impulsiveness, he is fiercely loyal to the Autobots and would put himself in danger without hesitation if it meant protecting one of his friends.

Voice Inspired: Erica Lindbeck
Cipher is intelligent, observant, disciplined, and highly analytical, taking heavily after Prowl in the way she studies a situation before deciding how to act. She likes having a plan and tends to remain focused even when everyone around her is panicking. However, small pieces of Jazz regularly break through that composed exterior. She possesses a subtle sense of humor, can be surprisingly witty when comfortable, and is considerably more personable than she initially appears.
Rather than following directly in either of her parents' footsteps, Cipher has chosen to train under Ratchet as a field medic. With qualified medics becoming increasingly scarce as the war continues, she wants to be capable of treating injured Autobots directly on the battlefield instead of waiting for them to reach the med-bay. Her analytical mind makes her a promising medical student, although she is still learning that patients aren't problems that can always be solved through logic alone.

Sideswipe is confident, competitive, daring, and always looking for his next challenge. He loves speed and isn't afraid to show off when given the opportunity, sometimes pushing himself further than necessary simply because someone suggested he couldn't do something. His confidence can occasionally make him reckless, but Sideswipe isn't careless when his friends are genuinely in danger. Beneath all the swagger and teasing is an intensely loyal Autobot who takes failure harder than he wants anyone to know.

Voice Inspiration: Laura Bailey
Minerva is compassionate, intelligent, patient, and highly dedicated to her work as a medic. Compared to Ratchet's gruff and sarcastic bedside manner, Minerva is gentler and more reassuring, especially with frightened or injured patients. However, she isn't a pushover. When someone's health is at risk, Minerva can become surprisingly firm and will happily argue with even the most stubborn Autobot if it means keeping them alive. She believes being a medic means caring for someone's emotional wellbeing just as much as repairing their physical injuries.

Hot Shot is enthusiastic, courageous, ambitious, and eager to prove himself. He dreams of becoming a great Autobot hero and can become frustrated when more experienced soldiers treat him like he isn't ready. His eagerness occasionally leads to impulsive decisions because he'd rather take a chance than stand on the sidelines. Hot Shot's greatest challenge is learning that being a hero isn't about recognition or accomplishing something impressive—it's about becoming someone others can depend on when things go wrong.
