The Jade Stranger (Audiobook Adaptation of Fictional Action Novel) (OmegaLight Studios Production)
Project Overview
So, my name is Anikan, though my formal user is AnikanDarkness, and I am a writer. I'm 18 at the moment, but for the past ten years I've wanted to become an author. To be able to convey my imagination, ideas and stories through words, visuals, and to share it all with the world. I want to make my stories come to life and eventually publish them in the future. My dream is to become an author, and publish at least one of my books. So for now, I am here.
Currently I am working on three different series all under one project/universe known as OmegaLight, hence the project's name being OmegaLight Studios. The first series is The Omega Event, a story following a group of young adults who are thrust into an apocalyptic world as society comes to an end, and they are forced to confront death to survive. The second series is a semi-sequel to the first known as DragonLight Online, which follows the adventure of a young boy and survivor of The Omega Event who logs into a mysterious fantasy VRMMORPG and sets off to become the Champion of that realm. The third series, The Jade Stranger, takes place between both and focuses on a high schooler who becomes New York City's first hero in twenty years, and is forced to confront the forces of evil on his journey to protect the people he loves and the city he calls home.
This project will be for an audiobook of The Jade Stranger book series, which consists of six books in total, with several potential side stories. At the time of this project's creation, three of the six novels have been written and the others are in the process of being worked on. Each novel is approximately 20 - 30 chapters, with every chapter spanning one video. The series is written in third person, and chapters usually range from 7 - 14 pages so most videos will be about 20 minutes. Because the series is written in third person, the audiobook will be narrated by the protagonist, with occasional POV switches during the second and third book.
This is a long term project, and auditioning to voice a main character means you have to be committed to the project. Do not audition if you can't stick around. If you are casted for a role, you will receive a message and be given a link to the discord where the project is being developed. This project shares the same discord server as the DragonLight Online and The Omega Event Audiobook Projects. Requirements

1. Have a discord account, or be willing to make one.
2. Have decent mic quality. You will probably not be accepted if you have background noise or static, or the quality is just overall bad.
3. Be able to cooperate and turn in voice lines within a two week period. Generally I release scripts at the end of every month, usually whichever videos are planned to release that month and the first week of the next month. Future scripts are also open for VAs to record their lines in advance.
4. Most importantly, be able to make a commitment. I have experienced several times of people auditioning, accepting the invite, and then never responding again. We've had several videos and projects delayed because of this, so do not audition of you cannot commit to a long term project.

Ben Jackson is a 16/17 year old high school student, an overachiever who constantly overworks himself to try and prove himself to society. Ben juggles many hobbies in his life, including developing an Indie Game, working at a homeless shelter, and eventually his hero duties. He lives in a mansion on the outskirts of New York City with his younger sister Katherine and his caretaker Steven, due to his parent's absence. He is the son of two renown researchers, and though he lives a priveleged and high class life, he tries to use that wealth to help others. Due to past trauma, he has a hero complex where he wants to help as many people as possible, no matter what the cost. While is rarely nervous, and is confident in his words and actions unlike many others.
Voice Details: He is usually not very shy or nervous, with few exceptions, and is never afraid to get into a fight. During fights he usually is able to joke around a bit, but in intense battles when the stakes are high, he will get angry and push his body and self to the limit. He has an average male teen voice, not too high but not too deep either.
(Happy, Assuring, Calm) "I know what I'm getting into Steven, but I'm safe. I have the power to protect others and myself, so don't worry about me."
(Shouting, Mocking, Joking) "Alright no more bad guy stuff! Put down the weapons, and get in the back of that police car like a couple of good little criminals,"
(Angry, Fed up, Irritated) “Yeah I’m not going anywhere. I thought that leaving my life as a hero behind and trying to start fresh in Detroit would fix all the problems in my life… but it’s only created more. He killed Josh, and for that, I’m gonna kill him.”
Josh is a 16-17 year old boy, and the best friend of Ben Jackson. He is the comic relief character, usually there to joke around and bring a smile to the other characters faces. At times he is jealous of Ben's lifestyle and achievements, and thrives to be as best as he can. He works a side job at a sandwich shop at the mall, where he works almost every day after school to support him and his mom. Despite his jealousy, he does his best to support Ben in what he does, and attempts to help him after discovering his hero identity. *Spoilers* Josh is absent for a majority of the third book to actions taken in the second, but is featured prominently from there on out.
VOICE DETAILS: Josh, unlike Ben, lacks confidence and kind of embodies the nerdy socially anxious type of kid. He has a kind of high pitched voice, and a mixed American/Hispanic accent.
(Happy, Cheerful) "Oh this thing? It's my new favorite sandwich, beans and bacon!"
(Giving Advice, Calm) “Hey I'm just saying that with your schedule, it'll be better to wait on relationships. She’ll act all lovey dovey in the beginning, but soon enough you’ll be stuck as her human coat rack in the woman’s clothes section rather than sitting at home munching on chips and designing sprites.”
(Sad, Jokingly Sad) "Lost to Waluigi... I feel disappointed in myself. Stupid blue shell..."
Sophia is a 16-17 year old girl and the best friends of Ben Jackson, Joshua Hernandez, Amanda Reed, and Chandler Clark. She is a very confident girl, unafraid to speak her mind and fight back against anyone who opposes her. She serves as the love interest for the first book before officially entering a relationship with Ben in the second book, along with being one of the sole secret keepers of Ben's hero identity. She has been through a lot of trauma as a child and even later as a teen/young adult, but uses that trauma to push herself forward. In book 3 she becomes more prominent in fights, eventually taking on a hero role herself as the Cobalt Defender and partner to Ben as the Jade Stranger.
Voice Details: a middle range voice with a bit of an edge and rasp to it. A bit of aggression at times.
"Oh my gosh... what happened?” (worried) (context:seeing her friend's bloody nose)
"No it's okay... it's just that since you've been busy so much I've been yearning to spend time with you. Every moment we're apart, I feel myself thinking about you. At first I thought it was just because I was so used to being around you... but then I realized I felt different. I didn't feel right not having you by my side," (nervous, confession, romantic)
When you’re a kid, sometimes life is just day after day of careless fun. But as you grow up, you soon realize that the world you were born into isn’t perfect at all. It’s cold, harsh, and broken. The magical carefree fun world you used to play in never existed, simply disguised by your childlike mind and your parents who kept you safe. And despite the lies of this world, the truth has been revealed. New York is not a city anymore, but a dictator’s capitol. (narrating, serious)
Amanda Reed is a 16/17 year old high school student and semi-professional athlete. She is one of the fastest runners on the school's track team, and when she isn't away for sports or busy working out she's hanging out with the rest of the group, including her best friend Sophia Evans. She develops a crush on Josh due to his nerdy personality, and later enters a relationship with him. She is very non confrontational, but only to strangers and is unafraid to speak her mind in front of her friends.
Voice Details: Middle range voice, typical teenage girl, slight New York accent.
"Look who woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," (slightly annoyed)
"I'd be glad to help you get in shape, as long as you teach me how to play Breath of the Wild too," (happy, confident at first then kind of nervous)
"Six months ago I lost someone I cared about, and now his killer is trying to tear down my home. If you're going to fight, then count me in. We're all here for you Ben," (mourning, serious, determined)
Chandler is a 16/17 year old high schooler who's dedicated most of his life to his social media profile. He considers himself an influencer, and was able to create a large following at a young age due to his New York related content, which includes exploring and showing off an average NYC lifestyle. He is sort of a redneck, living pretty much on his own in a small trailer in Long Island, and a major partier kind of guy. He does not like showing his emotions, even to people he is close to, and is easily embarrassed.
VOICE DETAILS: Average high schooler voice, kinda loud. He has a slight country accent, noticeable at times but not very strong. Very relaxed.
"Yo what's up this is Chan Chan streaming from The Sandwich Hut, the workplace of my classmate Joshuaaaaaa Hernandez! Now Josh how do you like working at this sandwich establishment?" (excited, sorta cringe)
“You know… all of this hasn’t been easy. Everything was fine one day, and the next it was all like a nightmare. I never wanted to show it… but god dammit I’m scared. I’m fucking scared that one day, I’ll wake up and someone else will be gone." (worried, scared, verge of tears, trying to keep it together)
"Now Ben, I got a little advice for you. If you're looking to feed her kitty tonight might I suggest you head down to the alleyway on 6th and Dean? Providing you don't have anywhere else to do the deed, there's a nice mattress back there you two could churn your butter on." (whispering, pervy)
Note: This character is a multi-story character. What this means is that he appears in multiple series in the OmegaLight Universe. In this case, Lydia appears as a supporting character in The Jade Stranger series and in The Omega Event 3 and onwards.
Lydia Rose is a 15/16 year old high school student who lives in New York City. She is extremely quiet and shy, with a very socially distanced personality, though is a little more comfortable and sort of sassy towards the people she is comfortable with. The type of girl who sits in the back of the class, bundled up in an oversized hoodie and watching anime while she takes notes. She is a writer and also a tech genius, using those skills to assist Ben in his hero duties. Lydia is approached by Ben in chapter 10 of the first book, and after helping him decode the Nebula organization's files and learning of his secret identity, she becomes his "guy in the chair" in exchange for her silence. She helps out Ben on most of his missions, supplying him with information. Her role is taken over by an AI she designed by the name of V.I.O.R.A. who she created alongside Josh to help Ben deal with his dwindling mental health and assist him on missions when she can't.
Lydia is also a character of The Omega Event, appearing sparsely in book one over phone calls and eventually as a primary character in book 3 and onwards. She is one of the survivors at the New York Outpost, along with Dr. Bell and several others.
Voice Details: Very shy and quiet, somewhat high pitched. Soft tone of voice.
"Four years I've been writing out my words, feelings and emotions on a piece of paper, just hoping I'll be able to make something out of it. Nearly done with my first actual novel." (quiet, shy, happy)
"Stealth is the best option with this situation. Take them out one by one without drawing attention," (serious, worried, communicating through comlink)
"Well... those guys showed up and you chased one of them on the roof. I tried to help but I couldn't get up there and... a-and then you jumped onto the helicopter and I heard a gunshot. Then your body fell and I... oh god Ben... I didn't know if you were dead or... I..." (crying, sniffling, emotional, scared)
Steven is a 26/27 year old young adult and the caretaker of Ben and Katherine Jackson. He was forced to drop out of school and join the workforce at fifteen in order to support his ailing mother, and was later hired by the Jackson family as their caretaker. After his mother passed, they took him in and he lived alongside them in exchange for his services. Steven became Ben and Catherine's primary caretaker after Mrs. and Mr. Jackson left on their nearly year long business trips, only popping in for a week or two at a time every year. He dedicated most of his life to helping Ben grow and improve, neglecting his own goals and self fulfillment in exchange.
Voice Details: A semi-young adult voice, very authorize but relaxed.
"Ben... do you realize what you're getting yourself into?" (worried, nervous)
"Alright I've got everyone's lunches packed and ready to go! Grab your stuff and let's get in the car, our flight leaves in two hours!" (happy, slightly overworked, excited)
“We did this for you Ben. So that you can live out the life you wanted to live. So you could go to college, get a job, get married, have a life… everything I’ve done has always been for you." (sad, comforting, crying, dying)
James is the Uncle of Ben Jackson and a mentor to him after he decides to become a hero. He is a scientist and the CEO of Elysia Labs, a corporation founded in New York City. James is very old fashioned, affectionally referring to his nephew as "Stranger" due to his limited visits over the years. While helping Ben train to become a hero, he is working behind the scenes running a criminal group known as Nebula who are working to rob his own company. After Ben bonds with the Quantum Gem (the stone that gives him his powers) he uses an artificial replica to become the supervillain Ego. He is the main villain of the first novel, but returns in the fifth book as a hero known as The Silver Knight, a title he held years ago when he was once a hero.
"Hey Stranger. You've gotten bigger since I last saw you. How old are you now?" (happy, calm, joking, greeting)
"You shouldn't have come... I tried to stop you... I tried to keep you away... but you didn't listen!" (angry, sad, heartbroken)
"Ben please... Ben you can't do this! Don't leave me here... please!" (desperate, angry, crying)

Dr. Thomas Bell is one of the scientists working at Elysia Labs alongside Dr. James, the uncle of Ben Jackson. He is Dr. James' assistant and the second in command for the Quantum Gem project. Bell is a very quiet and shy person, but is unafraid of dangerous life threatening conflict, and will take whatever risks he has to to ensure the safety of Ben after his Uncle's arrest. After being saved by Ben from a falling air conditioner unit, he helps James train Ben to become a hero. Later, after Dr. James is arrested for his actions as Ego, he takes over as CEO and supplies Ben with his supplies and new suit to continue his hero duties as The Jade Stranger.
In The Omega Event 3, he appears as a doctor/scientist at the New York City Outpost, along with several other characters, including Lydia, and and is able to supply Anikan and the other main characters with supplies and information. He takes on a mentor-ship role from there on out, providing exposition and using his knowledge of science and technology to keep everyone safe and alive.
Voice Details: A bit of a high pitched tone of voice, a little nervous and sort of nerdy.
“You... you saved me. T-Thank you!" (relieved, happy)
“We soon realized the true nature of the gemstone, and that was to bond with the first true individual it would come into contact with. Once bonded, it would give that individual the power to control the Quantum Particles with their mind. With a single thought, you could create anything. A cup, a sword, or even a motorcycle if you could imagine it properly." (happy, expositional, interested)
“Ah Mister Jackson I’m glad you’re okay! It’s all over the news, insane what went down at the mall last night!” (relieved, worried, rushed, out of breath)
Katherine Jackson is a 14/15 year old girl and the sister of Benjamin Jackson. She is very hyperactive and easily excited, but also very emotional at times. She is mainly a background character at first, watching her brother do his hero duties and mourning her mother after she is diagnosed with a fatal disease. She eventually becomes a more central character in books 4, 5 and 6, taking on a superhero identity of her own to try and live up to the name her brother has established as The Jade Stranger.
Voice Details: high pitched, young voice. Kind of whiney at times.
"Is he here yet!? Is he here yet!?" (excited, anxious, happy)
"Ben's got a girlfriend, Ben's got a girlfriend!" (happy, joking, teasing)
"I'm so jealous! Why do you get to be a superhero and I don't?" (jealous, whining, joking)
Officer Halls is a police officer working in New York. He does his best to support his family, including his wife, his son, and his future daughter. He is a very hard working man, one who is suspicious at first of The Jade Stranger's sudden appearance but eventually comes to accept him. As no superheroes have been seen for over twenty years at the time, he is very wary. However, he soon comes to realize the hero's actions are genuine and does his best to help him out.
"Hands up!" (serious, making an arrest)
Ben: “Are you okay?”
Halls: “Haven’t been for a long time. My dad’s getting chemo a few floors over, and my wife’s slammed at work,” (tired, exhausted, sad)
Miranda is the head of one of Brooklyn's Homeless Shelters. She is very worrisome acts very mothersome to the people around her. She tries to help as many people as possible, and does her best to keep the homeless shelter running in hard times. She is a supporter of The Jade Stranger and close friends with Ben, Josh and Amanda, making a memorial for Josh after his 'death'.

“We have children here… we need more time.” (pleading, sad)

A concept artist for The Jade Stranger project. Someone who can draw sketches, references, or character sheets for some of the more important characters and provide visuals for the chapters and such.
Say something you think would fit
An artist who will make the primary scene art for each video. For each video I would like at least one, potentially more, pieces of art for different important scenes. These would be in a more comic-book like style with some focus on surroundings like cities and buildings, or fight scenes between characters and their powers. Depending on how many auditions I get and the availability of the artists I may cast several different individuals for this role, so multiple people can be working on chapter art. Usually details are given two weeks in advanced.
Say something you think would fit
This is a role for any music composers who want to join the project and make music for it. I would like to have a specifically composed opening song, along with some background music for specific scenes within the book, usually fight scenes and the such. Scenes with special music will be specified early in the project. Since this is a superhero focused novel, I am looking for music that fits that theme.
