The Halloran Case: Season One
Project Overview
One detective. One witness. A city full of things nobody wants to remember.
The Halloran Case is an original noir mystery presented live on Twitch. The host performs Detective, with prerecorded guest performances woven into each episode.
We’re casting two female voices for Season One:
Darling Benie - The elegant owner of a late-night supper club. Low, unhurried and warmly theatrical, with dry humour and an old hurt beneath her impeccable manners.
Lucia - A night switchboard operator who knows the detective by his voice. Crisp, quick-witted and fiercely proud, with warmth she reveals sparingly.
The acting style is intimate and grounded. We’re looking for natural conversation, thoughtful pauses and subtle emotional shifts.
Payment and scope
€15 per role, for one episode. These are small-budget guest roles, currently estimated at 40–80 character lines plus a short recorded tape segment. The final script and line count will be confirmed before recording begins. Please allow for one round of minor pickups or corrections within the agreed script.
Performers will be credited on stream and in the episode VOD. Recordings will be used in the live Twitch presentation and its archived VOD.
Night operator at the Exchange. Every outside call in the district goes through her switchboard. She used to read documents for the courts, and she was the best there was. Now her hands shake, so she wears gloves and works a headset instead.
She has connected the detective's calls for twelve years and never met him. She knows his voice better than he does.
Operator's grammar: "Go ahead." "Hold the line." Fast, dry, precise, faintly amused by everybody. Proud to the bone, with warmth she rations.

You say "yeah, go on" before every number. Twelve years.
You did it to me four hundred times before you ever said hello.
Somebody did. Everybody's taught. Your grandmother, an uncle, a clerk at the courts
Gender: Female
Voice type: Low, smoky, mid-Atlantic or neutral English. No heavy accent required.
Owner and hostess of the Daughters of Dali, a supper club where the music starts after ten. Black dress, pale fur, gloves, a broad hat, and a silver-headed cane she doesn't need.
Her curse: people cannot hold her face in mind. An hour after meeting her, nobody can say what she looks like, so she built a silhouette they can remember instead.
She calls everybody "darling" and almost never uses a name. Warm, theatrical, perfectly gracious, with a very old hurt underneath she will never say out loud. Amused rather than bitter. Let the pauses breathe.

Sit down, darling, you've only just got here.
That is what it says above the door.
Those are not opposites, whatever men tell you. And it is the second time in my life anybody has done me the courtesy.
