The Gods That Live Here: Pilot Episode

Project Overview

Hi! Project partners, Craig Jones and John Morgan here!

We are both animation graduates from The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and met at such university. We are both extremely passionate artists who adore cartoons and comedy, so we decided to create our own independent studio dedicated to working on an Australian internet cartoon called The Gods That Live Here which follows two little cartoon gods that live in the real world. This show is a slice-of-life, comedy that runs for 60 seconds per episode (this pilot included).

Brief Synopsis:
The show follows Tuna (God of Fortune) and Vivi (God of Chaos); as they live together in a rented apartment and must tolerate each other. Tuna is often too nice for their good and Vivi gets into a lot of trouble. They often cancel each other out and learn from one another.

Although they are cartoon characters, the voice acting should appear more natural, we're trying to depict them in a more mundane setting. Imagine a villian and hero hanging out in everyday life.

Payment:
At this stage, this particular project is unpaid as we’re just getting started. However, our goal is to build a long-term paid collaboration. We’d love to continue working with you on future episodes and shorts beyond the pilot.

Any future projects will be $35 - $45 AUD/hr (via PayPal or Bank Details if in Australia)

If successful, lines being read during a live call with us via Discord is preferred!

  • Deadline Ended - Choosing New Voices Soon!

    Hi everyone! Craig & John here!

    We just wanted to thank all of you for the amazing submissions (we still can't believe we got over 99 of them!) We are currently still in the process of sifting through and picking out the new voices but we are very close to narrowing it down now.

    Everyone had such unique takes on the characters and we are truly grateful to you all for following the project and engaging with Tuna and Vivi.

    Vivi - "meh- people, shmeeple! ...greeple... beeple, teeple"

    Hi again! Craig here!

    Thank you so much to everyone who has submitted so far! Everyone's submissions have been awesome. It's been really amazing putting the voices to the characters to see what works. We are still in the process of choosing and John will be away for about a month so I've extended the submission deadline to... about a month.

    If you're wondering If you have got the role or not, we have decided to wait until we have both voices at the end of the deadline that fit best. As picking someone now without the other voice could have some troubles, for example we might like one voice but their mic might sound completely different to someone else's. With this in mind, we think we might have someone in mind already for Vivi... 👀

Tuna is soft-spoken character that is the voice of reason. They encourage positivity and actively wants to be the best person they can be. They love the simple pleasures in life, like reading, gardening but also dabbles in skateboarding for fun and transportation to work!

**Avoid sounding too nasally or too cartoonish we want a certain natural tone**

Their character dynamic with Vivi is the straight-man whilst Vivi is the clown, goof, wildcard, etc

For Tuna specifically, think more Wirt (Over the Garden Wall), Aang (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Vivi is a confident character who likes to spend their time building machinery for evil or is just always looking for opportunities to cause some commotion for their own entertainment; to spice up mundane life so-to-speak. This character is considered evil but not entirely, they can also be chill to hang out with.

**Avoid sounding too nasally or too cartoonish we want a certain natural tone**

Their character dynamic with Tuna is the funny man (the clown, goof wildcard character) whilst Tuna is the straight man.

For Vivi specifically, think more Ben 10 (Ben 10), Buttercup (Powerpuff Girls), Toph Beifong (Avatar: The Last Airbender) Ice king from adventure time - (later seasons where he's a bit more chill)

**Do Note, Vivi has less lines than Tuna in this Pilot Episode**
