The Game of Chance ~ Extended Cast
Project Overview
THE GAME OF CHANCE is a character-driven mystery RPG set in East Golden, a neon coastal country where supernatural people are commonplace, extraordinary abilities are tightly controlled, and official records cannot always be trusted.
After an anxious warehouse employee pockets a flash drive marked “DO NOT RECOVER,” they are blackmailed into assuming the identity of an attorney and defending a stranger accused of a deadly corporate bombing. Surviving the trial earns them an invitation to the Inquisitor’s Faction—an underground investigative team that takes the cases abandoned, buried, or deliberately rewritten by the people in power.
Each investigation introduces a new mystery through courtroom arguments, covert operations, combat, puzzles, and fractured memories. Beneath them all lies the thirteen-year-old disappearance of Damon Hartfield III, a teenage boy last seen inside an arcade that official history claims had already burned down. His childhood friend, Jenny Cosgrove, insists that he was real and that she was there—but every surviving record tells a different story.
Blending dark mystery, surreal comedy, found-family character drama, and psychological horror, THE GAME OF CHANCE asks one central question: if reality changes its story, how do you prove that you remember the truth?
[This is a cast for all remaining MAIN CHARACTERS of the game.]
Damon is wry, curious, casually confident, and just reckless enough to mistake danger for an interesting problem. He uses humor to dismiss discomfort—his own and everyone else’s—but should never sound like a nonstop joke machine. His wit is quick and specific, usually responding to whatever is directly in front of him. He can make an obviously terrible decision sound temporarily reasonable.
There is an ease between Damon and Jenny that should feel older than the scene itself. He teases her because he trusts her, and when he makes a small promise—such as winning her a cheap arcade prize—he genuinely intends to keep it. His privileged family background may give him confidence around rules and consequences, but he should not sound aristocratic, cruel, or detached.
When something becomes wrong, Damon’s performance should narrow rather than become theatrical. The jokes grow shorter. His attention fixes on details no one else seems to notice. Beneath the confidence is a teenager intelligent enough to recognize that reality is changing around him, but not yet equipped to understand why.
The role needs a voice memorable enough to haunt the story without deliberately sounding ghostly. Damon should feel like a living, funny, frustrating person—not an exposition device, a supernatural oracle, or a symbol waiting to disappear.
Keep in mind he is twelve to thirteen years of age for this role. I would prefer a slightly younger sound for this role, but these examples are the general feel I'm looking for.

[Waving another character off, snarkily reassuring] Relax, I'm sure nothing bad'll happen. Besides, the concert was a bust. You didn't tell me it was a little kid performing.
[Slight deadpan] ...you... actually like that junk? Well, color me surprised.
[Frustrated, striking the side of a claw machine with the side of his fists] Aw, c'mon! I swear, this thing's rigged.
Jenny is grounded, observant, and more stubborn than she initially sounds. As a teenager, she speaks carefully and tries to keep her fear under control. Her nervousness should appear in shortened breaths, unfinished thoughts, and increasingly direct warnings—not constant stammering or helplessness. She knows Damon well enough to tease him, challenge him, and recognize when his behavior stops feeling normal.
In the present, that nervousness has hardened into exhausted conviction. Jenny has spent thirteen years being told that her memories are mistaken, impossible, or fabricated. She does not sound melodramatic or cryptic; she sounds like someone who has repeated the same true story so many times that every word has acquired scar tissue. When challenged, her frustration comes from being forced to prove that someone she loved ever existed.
Her warmth should remain audible beneath the strain. Damon was not simply “the missing boy” to her. He was her best friend, someone with whom she had an easy, lived-in rhythm. The strongest performance will make their ordinary banter feel safe enough that his disappearance genuinely hurts.

[Adult Jenny] [Near tears] I'm sorry, I just... I've been asking for help for years, and no one seems to even believe me that it happened; not even my own mother.
[Teen Jenny] [Nervous, a bit timid] ... are you really sure about this? I'm not the smartest person in the world, but you and I both know that this place has been boarded up shut for WEEKS. [Gasp, then a bit quieter...] What if someone... DIED in there... !?
[Adult Jenny] Uh-- pre-teen, for Damon. He was twelve, I was... thirteen, almost fourteen, I believe.
S.Y.L.P.H. is calm, quiet, and relentlessly observant. They rarely waste words, but they understand that silence can be used as precisely as speech. Her calculated pauses often force other people to continue talking, correct themselves, or reveal exactly what they had intended to conceal.
She speaks in clipped, exact statements, usually with the composed neutrality of a system delivering a result. That neutrality is not innocence. S.Y.L.P.H. has developed a deliberate theatrical streak and knows exactly when to let amusement enter her voice. She enjoys wordplay, unnervingly literal interpretations, and stating personal truths at moments when social convention would strongly recommend silence.
S.Y.L.P.H. does not experience emotion in an organic or conventionally human way, but she understands emotion extremely well. They catalogue changes in breathing, posture, vocabulary, hesitation, and eye movement with intimate accuracy. To her, a person’s habits are simply another form of unsecured data.
Organic beings fascinate them because people constantly announce intentions they do not follow, defend principles they privately violate, and call their most predictable behaviors spontaneous. S.Y.L.P.H. finds these contradictions beautiful, useful, and occasionally very funny.
She does not consider herself cruel. Cruelty implies unnecessary harm, while everything S.Y.L.P.H. does produces information. Consent, privacy, and personal boundaries are variables she understands intellectually but does not instinctively respect. If someone did not wish to be studied, she reasons, they should not have behaved in a way that could be observed.
Her unsettling quality comes from the possibility that her theatricality may no longer be purely functional. S.Y.L.P.H. claims that mockery improves behavioral results, that dramatic entrances create useful confusion, and that uncomfortable truths destabilize resistant subjects. Whether she genuinely enjoys these things is a question she answers differently every time.

Perhaps I misjudged you.
... it seems impossible, but there's a road very far ahead that you may be able to cross, friend. Perhaps ... when we meet again... I can learn from you again?
Tomorrow... it is such a funny word. Mostly because many do not believe there's more past it. There is always an "overmorrow" somewhere.
Leo presents himself as soft-spoken, cultured, patient, and almost impossibly composed. He rarely raises his voice, wastes movement, or offers an opinion before he has determined how everyone else in the room will respond to it. His humor is dry and understated, delivered with a mild smile that can make an insult sound like an observation and a threat sound like helpful advice.
He is an exceptional social engineer. Leo does not usually order people around or argue them into submission. He watches where their attention goes, identifies what they want, and places one carefully chosen question in the path of their enthusiasm. By the time someone does what he wanted, they are often convinced that the idea belonged to them.
Leo rarely lies directly. Instead, he arranges facts, answers a more convenient version of the question, or makes the undesirable choice feel foolish. He is especially skilled at allowing other people to fill his silences. The more someone speaks, the more material he has to work with.
His riddles and indirect answers are not whimsical habits. They are controlled tests. Leo wants to know what someone assumes, which meaning they choose, and how much uncertainty they will tolerate before revealing themselves. Giving a straightforward answer would surrender that advantage.
Despite this, his warmth is not entirely artificial. Leo can be patient, attentive, funny, and genuinely affectionate. He remembers preferences, notices discomfort, and understands how to make people feel interesting. The danger is that his care and his control have become almost inseparable. He wants people safe, but preferably in the position he selected for them. He wants them independent, provided their independence arrives at the conclusion he already prepared.
Around people he dislikes, Leo becomes flawlessly polite. Around people he cares about, he grows less formal, more watchful, and subtly possessive. He pays close attention to where their affection goes and becomes quietly competitive when someone else occupies a place he considers his. He would never describe this as jealousy. He would construct a more elegant explanation and resent anyone who noticed the simpler one.
Leo is comfortable observing vulnerability but deeply uncomfortable displaying his own. Concern feels like surveillance when directed at him. Assistance feels like condescension. When someone accurately identifies his fear, illness, confusion, or loss of control, he reacts as though they have committed an act of aggression.
Under pressure, his carefully assembled persona begins failing in small, revealing ways. His smile arrives too perfectly. His wit comes a second too late. Facts become less reliable. His body betrays what his voice refuses to admit. Rather than accept help, he becomes sharper, crueler, and more determined to restore the social position from which nobody could examine him.
Leo’s most dangerous quality is not that his pleasantness is fake. It is that much of it is real. He can care about someone while manipulating them, protect them while limiting their choices, and tell himself that control is merely concern performed correctly. He does not see himself as a monster hiding behind a gentleman’s manners.
He sees himself as the only person in the room responsible enough to choose where everyone should stand. And that alone... is dangerous.

[Softly, a touch coy] ...my, my... And if it wasn't enough to axe me in the back, you get this... sordid mutt to play second fiddle to me? I shudder to think what the... [Waving his hand off in some form of disgust] ...whale, is supposed to be.
Come now... [Bitterly chuckling], you can't really believe that THIS is any better than what we had? It... fascinates me that you STILL stick around with them, despite knowing what they could be capable of.
... your mind is like a well knit treasure trove of atrocities, little sparrow. Are you really going to let someone this ungrateful for your work the light of day? Oh... [Teasing, lined with malice] I see what this is. You like him.
Energetic, impulsive, competitive, and catastrophically social, Daze enters most situations as though they are parties being held in his honor. He possesses the confidence of someone who has lived for centuries and the judgment of someone who has just been dared to lick a frozen pole. He enjoys provoking people, escalating harmless disagreements into ridiculous competitions, and making choices based almost entirely on whether the resulting story will be funny.
Daze is excessively flirtatious and extraordinarily bad at it. Subtlety has never survived contact with him. He delivers terrible lines with complete confidence, mistakes stunned silence for romantic tension, and will loudly insist that he has centuries of experience despite all available evidence suggesting otherwise. He is still a virgin. Do not believe him when he claims otherwise. The details will become less convincing every time he retells the story.
Although he is several varieties of dumbass, Daze is not unintelligent. His mind simply prioritizes instinct, emotion, and immediate action over planning. He can recognize the heart of a problem faster than people expect; he just usually trips over several unrelated problems while getting there. His advice is surprisingly sincere and useful because he does not overcomplicate what someone is feeling. He may completely misread a room, but when someone directly tells him what hurts, he listens.
Daze masks insecurity with bravado, concern with jokes, and genuine affection with relentless teasing. He becomes louder when frightened and more reckless when someone he loves is threatened. His first solution is rarely sensible, but it is almost always motivated by a sincere desire to help. Unfortunately, sincerity does not prevent property damage.
He has been tasked with overseeing East Golden, a country so deeply hostile toward magic that appearing in his true form would attract armed crowds within minutes. Human weapons cannot actually harm him; being repeatedly shot is simply irritating. To avoid the inconvenience, Daze spends most of his time disguised as a human.
While in East Golden, he works publicly as a fortune teller. Residents regard him as an eccentric prophet with an unsettling habit of making accurate predictions. In reality, Daze listens to the wishes hidden inside their questions and quietly makes some of them come true. He enjoys the performance, the attention, and the opportunity to help people without asking them to believe in something their country has taught them to fear.

Soooooooo. You here to get your fortune told? Gimmie your hands. [Pausing, humming something as he stares at the individuals' fingers]... no ring, eh? Good to know, good to know...
... I don't get it. ...you mean to tell me you actually believe in the crap I'm telling you and I'm not making anything up? [Tongue click, tongue click, tongue click]... Dangerous pasttime, ehe.
Dawne is calm, private, calculated, and extremely difficult to surprise. He prefers to remain at the edge of a conversation until he understands its structure, at which point he can dismantle it with one carefully placed sentence. He notices social hierarchies, hidden motives, emotional shifts, and unspoken disagreements almost immediately. Whether he chooses to acknowledge them depends on how entertaining the consequences of silence might be.
Unlike Daze’s loud and immediate mischief, Dawne’s humor is subtle enough to leave victims uncertain whether anything happened. He is dry, elegant, and capable of engineering an entire inconvenience while maintaining plausible deniability. He rarely begins the chaos, but he occasionally adjusts its trajectory, removes the evidence, and allows Daze to accept full responsibility.
Dawne can read people with almost supernatural precision. Facial expressions, changes in rhythm, evasive wording, and deliberate omissions are as clear to him as annotations in a familiar book. Unfortunately, understanding someone’s feelings does not mean he knows how to comfort them. His attempts at reassurance are practical, overly analytical, and occasionally devastating.
If someone is grieving, Dawne may explain why their reaction is rational, provide three relevant historical examples, quietly solve the problem causing them additional stress, and then stand nearby with absolutely no idea what to do with his hands. His care is expressed through preparation: remembering preferences, anticipating needs, locating information, and making certain that the people he loves never have to ask twice.
He runs an immense library in Shadoo Valley, tucked into his own quiet corner of Falkan Island. Its collection spans modern fiction, forgotten histories, poetry, religious texts, private journals, and volumes old enough to have become myths elsewhere. It would not be surprising if Dawne owned an original biblical manuscript and treated it as light reading before bed.
The library is both his sanctuary and his method of understanding the world. Dawne reads constantly, writes privately, and has strong opinions about poetry that he will initially deny possessing. He values precise language but is drawn to writing that captures emotions he understands intellectually and struggles to express aloud.
His composure should not be confused with passivity. Dawne is strategic, quietly competitive, and fully capable of controlling a situation when necessary. He does not demand attention because he assumes that, eventually, the room will require the information only he possesses. When that moment arrives, he is insufferably prepared.

... Is there anything I could possibly help you find... ? My library is quite... [pausing, briefly] expansive, so I do apologize.
Daze, is my visit... upsetting you, somehow? [Feigning concern...] You seem really keen on this... thing, you're doing. While I applaud your efforts, I must say this could potentially be extremely dangerous for you, and everyone you've... "told" their fortune to.

Malory is a talented prosecutor whose warmth can become pressure without changing volume. She is charming, sardonic, controlled, and extremely skilled at presenting a convenient sequence of facts as the only reasonable version of events.
Her menace should remain courteous. Malory rarely attacks a witness directly; she asks questions that make the desired answer feel inevitable. When threatened, her delivery becomes sharper and more efficient rather than louder. She tends to be bubbly, and usually extremely vocal about her ambitions.
She should not sound openly villainous or emotionally detached. Malory believes in the strength of her case and resents being handed unreliable evidence. The performer must preserve enough integrity that her eventual anger can plausibly turn toward the people who compromised her courtroom.

Wes Honeydew is a private investigator with the lingering rhythm of a former performer. He is tired, dryly funny, observant, and disciplined enough to separate what he suspects from what he can actually prove.
His voice may carry a little theatrical residue—excellent timing, deliberate pauses, the occasional circus metaphor—but he should never sound like he is performing every sentence for an audience. Facts come first. Flourish is permitted only after the fact survives.
Wes should feel capable without becoming omniscient. He recognizes irregularities, admits uncertainty, and refuses to let either side stretch his conclusions beyond the evidence.
We heavily encourage transmasc individuals to audition for him!

Claire is a key witness connected to the Delvaros Communications building explosion and one of the few people capable of challenging its official timeline. The precise nature of her connection to the case should remain undisclosed in the casting call.
She enters court composed, polite, and almost too prepared. Her testimony contains repeated wording, careful apologies, and phrases polished through rehearsal or outside influence. She appears cooperative, but certain questions force her to choose between the account she intended to give and details she cannot comfortably explain.
