The Flash Comics: The Scarlet Speedster Dub
Project Overview
What is this?
This is going to be a series of fandubs for the comic books for the scarlet speedster himself. The Flash.
For those of you unfamiliar with the character, The Flash is the superhero alias of several superheroes with the ability to run super fast. The original Flash was Jay Garrick but the one more well-known is Barry Allen. Barry is an assistant scientist from the Criminal and Forensic Science Division of Central City Police Department. Barry had a reputation for being very slow, deliberate, and frequently late, which frustrated his fiancée, Iris West. One night, as he was preparing to leave work, a freak lightning bolt struck a nearby shelf in his lab and doused him with a cocktail of unnamed chemicals. As a result, Barry found that he could run extremely fast and had matching reflexes. He donned a set of red tights sporting a lightning bolt, dubbed himself the Flash after his childhood hero, Jay Garrick, and became a crimefighter active in Central City.
Requirements:
1. Please make sure your microphone is capable of recording your voice without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping.
2. You must have a Discord account, as the project will be going into production over there.
3. Your voice files must be sent in a .wav format, though if it ends up too big, .mp3 files will do as an alternative.
4. You need to have a very clear idea of both the character you're auditioning for. I would also like you to describe in the audition description what version of the character you were going for or if you were doing something original with it.
5. Open Ethnicity, POC Actors HEAVILY encouraged to audition.
6. Remember to have fun!

The original Flash. Jay Garrick was a college student who inhaled radioactive fumes in his science lab; after waking up from a brief coma, he found he had super-speed and fought crime as the Flash. Jay fought in World War II, was a founding member of the Justice Society of America, and became good friends with his fellow mystery man, Alan "Green Lantern" Scott. Jay retired as a result of the anti-Communist paranoia of the 1950s, but the appearance of Barry Allen as the new Flash brought him out of retirement, becoming a fatherly presence to the rest of the superhero community and one of its elder statesmen.

Here's what I figure. The people out there on the streets - the people who really matter - they look up to teams like the Titans and the League. But the Titans and the League... They look up to us.
We're going to get this done and we're going to do it fast. After all, it's how I'm used to doing things.
While working in the lab late at night, forensic scientist Barry Allen was doused with chemicals and struck by lightning, this freak accident imbuing him with incredible super-speed. Inspired by the legacy of Jay Garrick, he donned his famous red spandex and became the Scarlet Speedster, the Sultan of Speed—the Flash. Barry had a years-long flirtation with Iris West that culminated in their marriage. He also became a mentor to Iris' nephew, Wally West, his sidekick Kid Flash. Barry is a founding member of the Justice League of America and one of the world's greatest superheroes.

I had a chance to save you, so I had to try. To let you die... it'd be no different from killing you myself. I won't take a life. Not for any reason. Not ever.
As a child, Wally West was the biggest fan of the second Flash. One summer, he went to stay in Central City with his aunt Iris, who was dating Barry Allen at the time. Barry then "introduced" the Flash to him, and the Flash then explained to Wally how he got his powers by setting up a cupboard of chemicals the exact way they were when he got them. In a huge coincidence, lightning suddenly struck the chemicals, and Wally was bathed in them, giving him the same powers as the Flash. The Flash then taught Wally everything he knew about Super Speed and gave him the identity of Kid Flash. The Flash later revealed he was Barry to his nephew another summer. Wally would later become a founding member of the Teen Titans alongside the other sidekicks of the Justice League.

If I've learned anything, it's that life is damn delicate, and you have to enjoy the good times when they come. As long as I have my loved ones around me, nothing much else matters. Honest. If I lost my powers tomorrow and they never came back, at least I could say...I had a great run.

Iris West is a Picture News reporter based in Central City and is the fiancée of Barry Allen. Before Barry became the Flash, Iris often chides Barry for his frequently being late due to his repeatedly being lost in thought at work as a forensic scientist. This tendency continues even after he becomes the high-speed superhero. When Iris and Barry marry, Iris learns that not only is Barry the city's heroic speedster, but her nephew, Wally West, is Kid Flash.

I've been reporting on the Flash since he arrived in Central City. I know he always means well... and I'm thankful he's training Wally as Kid Flash... but I also know he's a lightning rod for trouble. Apparently, it's something we have in common.
Linda Park is the girlfriend and later wife of Wally West. She is an investigative reporter who develops a close working relationship with Wally. Their children together are Jai and Irey West. Born of Korean-American descent, she began her career in New York City and later moved to Keystone.

Professor Eobard "Zoom" Thawne, also known as Reverse-Flash, is the arch-nemesis of the Flash. He is a twisted sociopathic criminal, with a brilliant mind and super-speed, that was born in the 25th Century and travels through time to do battle with his most hated enemy. He has also been a member of the Secret Society of Super-Villains.

It always starts the same, with a bolt. You were five when you were struck--it was in the news, a miracle that a young boy was hit by lightning and survived. But it wasn't lightning. It was a burst of a strange energy and it changed you. The same energy touched all of us. It changed us all, each in our own way. The energy chose us. It didn't turn us into monsters. It made us gods.
I've raced nearly all of The Flash's protégés...but you, young "Wally West"...are new. A clear example that Flash's history was altered while I was...recovering. I have many questions about what else has been...rebooted. And I was hoping that you'd help me fill in some blanks. Our lives forever affected by his choices. You know how hard it is to find someone who can empathize with what he's done to us? And it would mean oh so much to me if you'd share in my pain.
I want him scared. Confused. Angry. And I want him to bring all those emotions home. To Central City! My City!
Leonard Snart was raised by an abusive father and took refuge with his grandfather, who worked in an ice truck. When his grandfather died, Snart grew tired of his father's abuse and set out to start a criminal career. Snart joined up with a group of small-time thieves and in planning out a robbery, each was issued a gun and a visor to protect their eyes against the flashes of gunfire. This visor design would later be adapted by Snart into his trademark costume. In recent years he has added a radio receiver to them which picks up the police band to monitor local law enforcement. Snart and the other thugs were captured by the Flash and imprisoned. Snart decided to go solo, but knew he had to do something about the local hero, the Flash. Snart read an article that theorized that the energy emissions of a cyclotron could interfere with the Flash's speed. He designed a weapon to harness that power and broke into a cyclotron lab, intending to use the device to charge up his experimental gun. As he was finishing his experiment, a security guard surprised Snart. Intending to use his gun only to scare the guard, he inadvertently pulled the trigger and discovered that his weapon had been altered in a way he had never imagined. The moisture in the air around the guard froze. Intrigued by this twist of fate, Snart donned a parka and the aforementioned visor and declared himself to be Captain Cold - the man who mastered absolute zero.

Heat Wave is a hot-tempered pyromaniac and Captain Cold's partner-in-crime who wields a powerful fire gun. Despite his poor mental state, he and Cold have worked together for years now and Heat Wave is always ready to partake in Cold's latest scheme.

Lisa Snart aka Golden Glider is Captain Cold's clever younger sister and a former figure-skater who joined her brother in supervillainy after the death of her lover, Roscoe Dillon aka The Top. She wields a pair of specially designed skates that effectively allow her to fly.

The son of rich parents, Hartley Rathaway was born deaf. His parents spent millions on cybernetic implants that granted him incredible hearing, but to their dismay, he was entranced by all forms of music and forsook their expectations for him. Bored with this life, Hartley delved into sonic technology to create a flute with mind-control properties and used it to commit petty crimes and fight the Flash as the Pied Piper.

A renegade from the hidden Gorilla City, Grodd is a mad genius and warlord who wants to destroy humanity and make Earth the dominion of apes. He was endowed with sentience by a radioactive meteor along with the other apes of Gorilla City, but also gained vast telepathic powers. Grodd has a formidable intellect offset by an animal's fury. He's known to clash with Barry Allen.

A two-bit criminal who had a little bit of luck, Mark Mardon stumbled upon a scientific device, a wand that could localize weather, creating hail, lightning, and other destructive forms of weather. He used the wand countless times against the Flash as Weather Wizard.

A Scottish crook who once operated in the UK, Evan McCulloch made a deal with the US government to be a test subject in experiments involving the old Mirror Master's recovered equipment. During the tests, McCulloch stole the equipment and escaped. Using the weaponry, he became the new Mirror Master and promptly joined up with the Rogues.
