Intro
Hello everyone we're back with another casting call for The Collector series. For those who are new to the project, The Collector is an anthological podcast series which explores the themes of horror, myths and urban legends. So come and join us into the abyss as we descend into the depths of humanity's sins. DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is May 25th. We’ll notify the voice actors who have been cast in roles on the 26th depending on the number of auditions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We communicate primarily through Discord. If you are unfamiliar with this application, you can still audition, however, we strongly recommend participation through Discord so that you can collaborate with your fellow voice actors.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
First, have fun! We take pride in bringing together talents in different mediums to create something we’re proud of, but none of it means anything if the people involved aren't passionate about their craft.
Please submit clean recordings on prosumer mics (no air conditioners in the background, no fans -- we don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice). And speaking of clean-up -- please let us handle the post-production. Don't add effects to your lines -- leave that to us.
Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favourite takes. Three is the gold standard. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that's okay, too. However please at least remove the takes you don't want to be featured on the podcast.
Please keep in mind that when you audition for a role within The Collector series, we ask all VA's to meet specified deadlines so that we have time for re-edits if needed. We want to make sure that each episode properly showcases the talented work of that VA.
Episode synopsis
Katherine tries her best to ignore her parents arguing, although her little sister Rose is not yet old enough to understand the fighting, so Katherine finds a new TV show to keep her occupied whilst their parents bicker,

Lead Role-
Katherine is a young adult whose life is dominated by her parents decisions.
She is opinionated and headstrong, however has learned to silence her voice as to not face her parents wrath.
She identifies with her best friend babs, as their upbeat behaviour relaxes Katherine and lets her decide the type of person she wants to be.
She loves her sister but resents her naivety and how she can ignore her parents arguing.
Katherine tries her best to distant herself from her home as much as she can so that she has a chance to be herself and not become tainted by the negative emotions of her parents.

(Bitter) Who else is going to take on the responsibilities? Both my parents are at odds with each other. And my sister is too naive to know what’s happening.
Jack-O-Jack said this? The cartoon that WANTS you to watch as much TV as possible?
(stuttering, trying to explain everything rationally) I don’t really know. One minute I’m watching Witchy Lulu with Rose, then I wake up, and found out my life has gone upside down.
Antagonist -
Witchy Lulu presents herself as a calm and soft-spoken puppet, one you would typically see in old children's programming.
She seems kind and gentle, a tool she uses to manipulate her viewers into watching her show.
When the trap is set, her real motives are shown, and her true colours become evident.
Much like a siren, she lures unsuspecting viewers and the closer they get, the more aggressive and needy she becomes.
Note: This Role includes a short song as part of the intro to the "Witchy Lulu" TV show.
As The lyrics and style are subject to change (as we may decide to alter it to a soft hum), however, we would like the artist to do their best and send us a short sample of them singing a song of their choice. Once casted, we will work collaboratively on the melody.

(Disappointed in Katherines lack of enthusiasm, trying to get her to scream her wishes) WHERE IS YOUR STRENGTH? SHOW ME THAT YOU WANT TO SEE HER AGAIN. WILL HER INTO EXISTENCE!

Supporting Role
Babs is a relaxed and nerdy individual who identifies as non-binary.
They embody the "ideal" best friend in that there upbeat and playful nature welcomes both introverts and extroverts.
Babs has no filter and will say whatever comes to their mind. They also have many thoughts and opinions, usually jumping from one topic to the next.

(Serious tone) Kat. In the years I’ve known you, you’ve always had the responsibility of others pushed onto yourself, without any say.
ITTTTTTSSSS BABS!
(Jokingly offended) No way! It’s a back-to-back episode. We won’t know if Banji was able to fix his harmonica if we stop now.
Side character-
Although Rose is constantly forced to watch her parents argue daily, she maintains her innocent nature and her lack of understanding allows her to see the world with rose tinted glasses.
She has a bright and bubbly personality, and gets emotionally invested into the stories that others share with her.

I want to be a good witch that does what she’s told. Not like that bad ones that steal peoples magic.
They were arguing even more when you went away. Then momma took her bags and left. We haven’t seen her since.
Minor Role-
Diane is a stay home mother that is completely sick of her marital life with Greg. Everyday she grows more tired and bitter from her lack of freedom. So she uses a cold demeanour towards her eldest daughter Katherine to essentially remove herself from having to have motherly responsibilities.

(Angry) Greg, how many times have I told you to fix the damn cupboard.
You know the great thing about the future? It hasn’t happened yet. So if you want to be able to see it you better do what I say. (Pause) Do I make myself clear.
OH REALLY?? And when were you gonna tell me? Before or after your eighth beer?
Minor Role-
Just like Diane, Greg too has grown tired of his married life. However his bitterness has evolved into anger as all of his efforts go unappreciated. In his many attempts to make amends with his wife, he too has neglected the needs of his children.

OH NO! I’m not getting stuck babysitting. I have work to get back to.
(pure range, distant voice) Katherine Louise Nicholls. Are you watching Tv in there?! You are going to be in SO much trouble when I get in.
Minor-
Bab's Mother. Although Bab's views her as strict old fashioned parent, Mrs Stuart only wants what's best for her child. So when Bab's runs away from home, she grows sick with worry.
We.. had a fight a little while ago, and they stormed off in a huff. I.. I haven’t seen them since.
Please, let them know that their mother misses them.
Katherine… You haven’t been round for over a week.
Minor character-
One of Witchy Lulu's companions. They are a shy anthropomorphic owl who mixes the regular speech patterns with that of an owl.

Minor Role-
Jack-O-Jack is a children's Tv announcer. He is an over the top character that is not afraid to show his quirky and upbeat personality. His wacky personality trait helps him captivates his audience.
