The Call of the Flame (Chapters 5 & 6)
Project Overview
Not long after the Tribe of Gods shaped the world and enkindled the stars, the many races were led to name their lands. The plains of Human Wynland, the dunes of Dwarven Kanduk, the mountains of Orcan Workingar. And the three Gods--as unique in morality as their own elements, bestow their unique elemental magic to the few they deem worthy. Rhuadu—Chieftan of Gods, grants the gift of fire and strength, Duinna—Nature’s Guardian, the power of enchantment and alchemy, and Koannus—the Deep God, grants power over sea and soul.
Three there were. Now only two remain to grant their power.
The story centers on a girl named Bri, a jaded barmaid who's father--the man who slew Rhuadu has passed away, leaving her a struggling barmaid. When a Mage called Villadius find her, he sends her away on a quest across the world to discover how her father killed a God, and how it can either be undone, or done again in the war against the Deep God. Who empowers an Elvan Sorceress across the ocean, the rightful Empress with ambitions to surpass her Empire's former might.

So, yeah! We've completed Chapters 1-4! Check it out now on iTunes, Google Play Music, Soundcloud and our website (Stitcher and Spotify where you at!?).
And now for the middle-est chapters of our podcast! A very French middle chapter. Not as many monsters this time around, that is in the literal sense.
Chapter 7 has a Dragon though, and I'm gonna feel it in my inbox when I post the casting call for that one.
Anyway, without further ado ...
A series outline has been written as well as four scripts. I'm about half-way done with the first Chapter in terms of audio editing. With luck, I hope to have a release format similar to We're Alive: A Story of Survival. (Albeit a 30 minute format instead of 50).
(Warning: mild language, smoking and alcohol use, battle sequences. TV-14)
Rates:
As of now: compensation for recordings are at $0.17 per script line (essentially a half sentence of 5-8 words). Rounded off to the highest. Despite that, no role--even if it's 1 line, would be compensated less than $3.
As for singing parts, I will compensate at the same rate per minute of music as the composers, which is $9 per minute of music in addition to compensation for lines.
For example Bri, who speaks 169 times in Chapters 1 & 2 together (313 script lines), is $53. A reoccurring role like Ultovin would make $15 for his appearance in Chapters 1 & 2.
We will have a Patreon page, and the podcast will be open for sponsors. If/when it gains some traction, all rates will be put into review. But until then I’m going in under the assumption it’ll fall completely on me for funding, which I’m totally prepared for. Still, I want to be fair, but at this time this is the only rate I can promise—it’s also the rate for which I’ve paid voice actors before for other projects.
Above all, I want to work with people who love voice acting for the fun of it. I love working on this stuff and hope to collaborate with people who love it too.
How to Audition:
- Send them to us here, or at [redacted]. Subject: Audition for (character name) from (username). Send them as either an attachment or a link, but preferably an attachment.
- Make sure to minimize noises or bumps while recording. Only your voice should be apparent. If you like to filter or remove vocal tics, be sure to include the unfiltered version as well.
- Record in .WAV.
- Save as: cotf_username_audition (ex. CotF_Taruk_RubbishMan_audition.wav).
- We will critique if requested. We also accept redos.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail us at [redacted].
Since this is an Audio Drama, all of the show's emotion and humor must be conveyed through the character's voices, so be sure to show off your emotional range.
Note: We value acting ability over a voice that matches a character, so don't let your vocal pitch deter you from auditioning.
We welcome auditioning for multiple roles as long as you can make each of them a bit different!
We look forward to working with you guys! Also happy to answer any and all questions in comments or as a PM. Or even directly sent to my email.

Check it out on our Website, iTunes, Google Play, Soundcloud, and Stitcher! Thank you to everyone who auditioned! Chapter 7 will more than likely get an audition page of it's own. Later than usual as Chapter 6 will be followed up with a short break for us.
The larger than life leader of this band of Knights, the strongest and most cunning of their number. He's everything Calan wishes he was, witty and strong, but there lies something underneath that's less noble, and Bri catches on to this with his chauvinistic micro-aggressions, and his treatment of the local population. Interactions with him at first are warm, but grow tense the more he catches her alone.
Voice: Subtle English accent. Confident and grizzled. Capably intimidating.
Note: Must be willing to shout and raise voice and swear.
[Charm] We the Knights took a vow not to run, but to stand our ground and be their shield. And long after the wars have ended we take the very same vows, uphold the teachings of Rhuadu, and defend the weak. Like your father did Calan.
[Intimidate] There's no need to hide it girl. Magnir flame is a terrific thing. It doesn't suit you, woman, but if we use you *properly*. We can put your gift to good use for our cause. You are a gift girl, a gift from the Chieftan of Gods. You will be safe with us. Certainly more than you're safe with those foreigners
A terroristic Sorseer representing the radical side of the Deep God's faith in Bellar--a land still devoted to the Chieftan of Gods Rhuadu long after his fall. He's spiteful, unlike Ultovin he has lived in an environment unforgiving of his devotion to the Deep God. Watching his "heretical" brothers in arms slain has inspired his approach to spreading his word, now stronger than ever with the death of Rhuadu.
Voice: Middle-aged, grizzled accented voice. Distinctly more Human than Ultovin and Villadius. Uneasiness in his voice, slightly crazed due to lack of sleep from always being on the move (being a criminal).
Ultovin told me about you, and when he did I laughed. My only regret when you Magnir lost your power is that it wasn't by our hand, now I have the chance to watch your fire leave your spirit as I kill you.
Look to the east Villadius, the institution of the Magnir is coming apart, the Chimera and the Dark Bride are bringing the tide west, and the Deep God with it.
[Incantation] Koannus kuldahar... Sa-navnala aner nur saareshii demarlava.
An elderly Bellish woman whom Bri encounters in the village tavern. She's broken down by the chaos that has plagued her home. And of the Knights taking advantage of the conflict with the hospitality of the town's people. Entrapping them with their protection.
Voice: Old and accented. Full of wisdom yet hard earned.
Oh child, you know nothing do you? In war time they were a shield between a mother and her infant child, when all other men ran. We gave them warm meals, beds, bought them wine, we could never repay them. Yet here they are, long after their need has passed.
The most verbose and pretentious of the Knights, and the first to encounter the Voyagers. A classical gentlemen Knight.
Voice: English accent, distinctly formal and restrained.
Note: Must also be capable of screaming or swearing.
Now, you'll have to pardon the old Knight. He is nostalgic, and loathes the notion of coincidence--Leave the dead creature be Godwin! You'll ruin your sword trying to behead it!
An elder Knight of Uldaben descent--this world's German descent. One of the few Knights to remember the days of the original King Arthur-esque king, and carries a heavy nostalgia for that time.
Voice: Mild German accent. More aged and experienced than his comrades, but also more senile and prone to ramblings.
That is no small deed, ah how I miss being a young lad. Sacrificing myself piece by piece, taking on foes twice my size. Trolls, Orcs, Gathish barbarians--
The youngest of the Knights, a more headstrong lad just out of squiring. Under a guise of innocence, he's indulgent, with bully like tendencies lurking under.
Voice: Soft English accent, boyish but cocky.
Well met friends, we heard cries and came about--Oh holy SHIT! Is that a dead Giant!?
(nervous laugh)
The leader of the Magnir Council, and the high priest in Bellar. He's weary and aged, not having his power for over 20 years and maintaining peace in a realm losing it's faith all at once. But there is hope, overzealous hope with the arrival of Bri.
Voice: Middle aged, accented, and grim. Lots of his dialogue is expository.
My council and I, We have watched these events unfold. Villadius has written letters to this council. Seeking our knowledge. To plan, to find the resting place of the Deep God itself.
No! Go back to your homes my children! Magnir business! Return to your homesteads and do not speak of this!
The Franks of our world. French accents of all ranges are fair game. Extras include villagers, gamblers, priests, merchants, bandits, guards.
Be sure to specify if you're willing to shout or swear!
This is the end of the road for me. The City of Bellar is five days away on foot. You best be on your way.
That girl! She's a Magnir, I saw her fire! It's true!
Cheater! Get him! Seize him!
