The Blood of the Black Rose
Project Overview
The Blood of the Black Rose is set in a fantasy, fictional version of our world starting from the dawn of the millennium years AD.
The story follows Princess Amicia Isabella of York, who survives a brutal assassination attempt during the civil war started by her Uncle, Arthur of York, in a series of political promises and ambitions.
After losing her father, and the assassination of her brothers, she disguises herself to fight back. Along the way, she is turned into a vampire, forcing her to struggle between her humanity, goals and her new nature as a creature of the night.
With allies like Adeline, a Scottish knight, and Simon, a sorcerer of the secretive Order of Merlin, Amicia journeys across Europe searching for a cure, before joining her aunt and other allies against the Black Rose, and reclaim England from Arthur's grasp. As war approaches, the vampire Princess must confront whether she will save her Kingdom as its heir, or destroy it from the war that continues to fracture the fragile Kingdom.

Edmund Gaveston is what he calls himself in this 14th century of time. He is a Vyrenian, an ancient term for what is now, the vampires. He is described as honorable, courageous, reserved, and just. He is ready to depart this world after another one of his care had died, but found one more purpose when he saved Princess Amicia from death and betrayal, the same thing he had been through when he was turned during the times of the Roman Empire.
- Edmund's voice can be described as deep, resonant, and calm authority, yet still with empathy and valor in his voice.

"It is not that I wish for you to drink human blood, your highness. An animal's blood can preserve you, and prevents fear, and paranoia amongst your people."
"You're finally awake. Have your senses finally changed for the past hours? Do you see through the dark, hear the tiniest whispers, and feel your strength had multiplied?"
"You are dead, a creature of the night. Even your heart does not beat, you must remember: memento vivere. You must live as you will, remember your past, your humble beginnings, and transform yourself not as a demon, but a demon's power willing to do something better for her peers."
Elizabeth York has been described as much as closer to Amicia (The Protagonist) in terms of their personalities and age gap. Elizabeth was born as the youngest of the 3 siblings, Gregory, Arthur and her. She is a late comer and bloomer, with her birth coinciding with the birth of her nephew, Edward, from Gregory.
Elizabeth is boisterous, rebellious, and an outright adventurer with the class and elegance to disguise herself. A trait she often shared with her doted niece. Though despite their similarities, Elizabeth has a more confident, adventurous persona, and straight-forward with her strategy and decisions. Showing her authority and her tact against those who doubt her.
- Elizabeth's voice is described as passionate, authoritative, empathy and in battle, a harsh vengeful edge.

"If you think I'll let the slaughtered, spilled, bloods of the black rose lay their graves silent without justice, then I will see to it you will be hanged beside him."
"A-Amicia?! My dearest niece! You're alive?! You... after all this time? Why didn't you... find me sooner? Agh, nevermind that..! I want you and your companions to settle, then I will be with you shortly and discuss things. Understood?"
"They're amassing on our left flank! I implore you all... To fight against the kinslayer! Even it means death! We charge!"
Recently crowned, the young 14 year old King Henry IV inherited a Kingdom in turmoil. England is embroiled in a war with an unknown faction yet from his own point of view. While one of his closest advisors, 'helping' him, is his own Uncle Arthur, the man behind the war.
Innocent, naive, and fragile, the young King helps his people as much as he can, but cannot completely help himself in the midst of all council meetings and the potential war that decimated half of their army against the rebellion and the betrayal of Lord Alaric. His health will deteriorate, and in the end, he is unwilling to see his his people suffer, and his family.
- Henry's personality stems from being shy, doubtful, but kind, innocent and is willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, even to the lowest of ranks to none. His voice is considered gentle, hesitant, youthful, insecure, with a tenderhearted nature.

"Sometimes... I do feel odd that I am King, not my brother. I miss him dearly, and I do not know if I'm ready to be one. I am simply a boy, wanting to learn and venture out, explore. Now, I am King. Heavy is the head, that wears the crown."
"I... I do not know what to do. Uncle? Please, the people are suffering. I need to help them, at least even a coin from our treasury to ease their burdens from the war effort."
"Sister! Amicia..! I'm glad you're alright..! Where have you been, you've been missing for months..!"

Arthur… He took my sister from me in the Red Wedding… and now he turns to raze Veyralis. First the crown, now the seas. He is devouring anything in his path.
Yes, I am. Lady Adeline, as a female knight of Scotland, you have always done your duties and kept your word, you are my most capable knight on the field. I would rather you do this than the men who ridicule you.
Eildih! (Ay-Lee) I specifically told you that you could not leave the palace grounds without a guard!

Well… I guess the war will be over in a few weeks. The pretenders are already retreating. I just hope the negotiations in Scotland can follow through so your sister can simply flank them.
Maybe. Or maybe not. I do believe I married you because I’ve loved you, especially since the moment I visited Scotland.
Well, I offered and she refused. Disguises aside, female knights are frowned upon, some would say it’s an insult to the knights and traditions. Additionally as you can recall, she followed us into war, if not for my eyes she could’ve been hurt during the Battle of Oxford.
King Edward of England is married to Queen Helena. Helena is the younger sister of Queen Moira and came from Scotland, where she got engaged years before the Civil War. Edward and Helena had just gotten married when they heard about Gregory's fall, and Edward became king.
Helena only has a small part, but she has been a strong queen and a good wife to her husband and his campaign. People say she is graceful and has good posture when she talks.

Is this one of your tactics now? Did you marry me because of my sister, and the alliance with Scotland?
How sweet. I still remember the summer child you were when you and your father visited Scotland.
Perhaps. Maybe our child in the future will be as naughty as their father, or as elegant as me.
The Queen Dowager Amelia of England, widow of the late King Gregory, is a former French noblewoman hailing from Aquitaine. She is described as high, elegant, with a sense of humility bestowed upon her from her humble beginnings.
Though she is queenly, she has led the court during the campaigns of her son, Edward, and the search for Amicia due to her presumed disappearance. She lets her hands do the work at times, than just her simple grey eminence. Though as brave and courageous as she might be, she still couldn't see past a deception that has been happening around London.
