About - ‘In The World We Live In’ is a webcomic about a group of friends moving through life together. The story takes place in a normal world. Nashton, Jessy, Vixon, Willow, and Lilac go to the same school together. And although they’re in different grades, they still meet up during lunch and outside of school.
This webcomic tells the short tales of everyone’s life, one event at a time. Each chapter is a short story of the characters, meaning not every character will be present in every single chapter.
NOTICE - This webcomic is currently in its early stages. There are only 3 people working on this project, excluding the voice actors and musicians. There's the script writer (me), the artist, and the music composer. This means that producing this series may take a while. So, you must have EXTREME patience, as this project isn't a priority for us. We started this for fun, and it will always be for fun. However, if this project develops enough and we actually get revenue, I plan on paying everyone involved.
UPDATES - As time goes on, I will be updating this casting call. So, please come back to see if there are any new roles (there will be more as time develops). And anyone who doesn't make the cut, don't forget about this project! I may need to cast you later on! Or you could be an understudy! Either way, there will be many other characters along the way! That said, the deadline itself isn't actually official!
Estimated run time - The comic itself is expected to have more than 50 chapters. Voice acting could take months or even over a year. If you are auditioning and get the role, please be committed. We don’t want to have to recast in the middle of production, pushing the end time further back.

Nashton is an only child. His mother died when he was a baby, and his father shot himself in the head, driven by the depression of his loss. As a result, 5-year-old Nashton was put into the custody of his grandparents on his mother’s side. Because they were old, Nashton put it on himself to help them and take care of them. He met Jessy in his kindergarten class, gaining his best friend. In 7th grade January 13th, when he was 11, his grandfather died. From then on, his grandmother began to weaken. Nashton was forced to take over the household chores and take care of his grandmother.

Jessi is the oldest of four siblings (Jadyn and fraternal twins Jace[M] and Julia[F] who are 8 years old). He has always been an energetic child. His family was well off financially, his parents working well into the night. Jessi was naturally strong and athletic, making it easy for him to become a star athlete on the sports teams. When he was 13 years old, his parents had begun to fight. This is when he had begun putting up his outgoing facade and going out more. Since then, he is the only one of his siblings to know about the tension between his parents.

Vixon grew up as an only child in a very broken family. Her father abandoned her and her mother when she was only 3 years old. Because of this, she wasn’t very financially stable. Vixon was already emotionally damaged, causing her to be the girl she is in the story. Her only friend, Nashton, had to move away, but they still went to school together. Her mother decided to remarry, but fell ill. Vixon had to stay with her in the hospital until she finally passed away. Her step father moved into the house, taking custody of her. She obviously hated him, for he had already found another girl.

Willow is an only child. When she was only 7 years old, her mother and father divorced and her mother moved away. Her father was an alcoholic, and often came home drunk and abusing her in different way. Verbal, physical, emotionally, and just plain old ignoring her. She became friends with Jessi when they were in Pre-K together (before she moved to kindergarten). This is why she’s so close to Jadyn. He later introduces her to Nashton and Vixon when she’s in 3rd and they’re in 2nd grade. In the same year, she meets Ryker, who became her babysitter. They became pretty good friends to the point Ryker stayed by her side when it came to her father.
**Auditioning for this role means you're okay with not having a lot of lines. Willow is supposed to be one of the less chatty characters. The lines above are pretty much the longest lines she will get. That said, this is also one of the tougher ones to play out

Lilac is the oldest of twins, her brother, Alder, being the exact opposite of her. Unlike most stories, she’s actually proud to have a twin brother like him. When comparing her life to her friends, she has the most happiest out of all of them. But because she’s supposed to be this A list girl, she’s constantly in need of approval. Her “friends” never see Alder because Lilac doesn’t want him to get hurt. She first met Jessi in middle school because of being a cheerleader and he a football player. He later introduced her to the gang at the end of the last football game of the season.

Corban was born into a wealthy family, being the youngest of 3 sons. But because he’s the youngest, his parents are never proud of his accomplishments. His older brothers already did those. Corban is constantly being compared to them, leading him to be cold and uptight. The only person to show him love was his grandma. No one else knows this, until Jadyn manages to break down the walls. Because of his hard exterior, most consider him hard to approach and very irritating. And it hurts his esteem to the point that he is forced to act like he’s superior.

Kye is the younger half brother of Ryker Adkins. He was born with the same father, different mother. This had nothing to do with affairs, but his father trying to find a new lover to replace his deceased. Besides this, Kye is pretty average. There’s nothing out of the ordinary for him except for how he came to exist (parent situation). He makes close friends with Ryker’s friends, but mostly Yuna, one of the foreign transfer students at their school. The two become best friends. He spends his time either playing games or working at his parents’ cafe.

Ryker is the older brother of Kye Adkins, his half brother. He was an only child for the first decade of his life. When he was only 8, his mother had died of natural causes. His father took a whole year to find another lover. He didn’t dislike his stepmother, but he wasn’t extremely fond of her either. By the time he was 15, he had decided to become more independent. He accepted a babysitting job, which is how he met and befriended Willow. After seeing her home life, he stuck by her side, even after he wasn’t needed for babysitting. She introduced him to the others, and he became the “father” of the group. Ryker had gone to college, graduating 4 years. But he doesn’t actually work. Most of his time is spent at the bar.

Jadyn is the middle child of the family. She is the younger sister of Jessi and older sister of fraternal twins Jace[M] and Julia[F]. She is quite introverted, but isn’t afraid to speak up. Jadyn isn’t very outgoing, and a lot of people say she’s hard to talk to because of her sarcastic personality.

Yuna is a foreign exchange student from Japan that transferred to the others’ school during freshman year. Because of the language barrier, most of the students avoided her. She tries her best to speak english, but she just talks in japanese majority of the time. The group befriends her easily and accepts her. They always try to understand her, but it doesn’t work. Yet, they still become close to her quickly. Kye, the youngest of the group, was the nicest to her the most. Yuna is the closest to him and often visits him at the cafe just to be with him. But none of them, not even Kye, are aware of the real reason Yuna had transferred, or why she was in America in the first place.
**Again, Yuna is supposed to be Japanese. Which means she will be speaking Japanese 99% of the time. We are working on getting a fluent enough speaker to help with translations, so please ignore any mistakes and messed up lines and read as it is written
(Panicked, Anxious) 「みな！みなはどこですか？」(Minna! Minna wa doko desu ka?)
Translation: Guys! Where did you go?!
(Confused, Struggling) 「どうなっているの？」(Dou natte iru no?)
Translation: Hm? What’s going on?
(Oblivious, Naive) 「あのひとがやさしいです。あのひとのうちにいきました。」(ano hito ga yasashii desu. Ano hito no uchi ni ikimashita.)
Translation: This guy seems nice! He took me to his house!
(Happy, Grateful) 「あなたが助かったです。ありがとうございます。」(Anata ga tasukatta desu. Arigato gozaimasu.)
Translation: Thank you so much for helping me!
(Sad, Self-Deprecating) 「わたしのせい。なんでわたしそんあばかですよ？」 (watashi no sei. nande watashi sonna baka desu yo?)
Translation: It’s my fault. Why am I so stupid?
(Normal, Plain) 「みな！おはいよございます！” (minna! ohaiyo gozaimasu.)
Translation: Good morning, everyone!
Markus is a recurring role that show up every time we have a bar scene. He owns the bar that Ryker regularly goes to and basically knows almost everything about the kids. You'll often be interacting with Ryker and sometimes Jessi.

Make up a line that would fit his character!
Levian Larusk is Willow's father. He will appear in the series every time Willow comes home. He will only really interact with Willow and sometimes Ryker. It should be said the Levi isn't the good guy in this story. He should be considered as Willow's villain.
Levi, as explained briefly in Willow's bio, is an alcoholic that comes home extremely drunk and often abuses Willow. He was always an alcoholic. However, when Willow's mother couldn't take it and divorced, he just got worse. Things seemed to be looking up when the two were together. She was the one who kept him grounded. When she left, Levi began to spiral further down than before, only able to take it out on Willow.
He's categorized as minor because Levi isn't going to show up all the time. The voice actor must also be comfortable with profanity and very emotional outbreaks. So, in your audition, please try to over-convey the emotions. I will also provide more context to these lines compared to others.
[You're at the bar, sitting in the same seat for 3 hours straight. Zo is your girlfriend prior to Willow's mother, Milian. She had broken up with you due to your outbursts of rage and drinking problems. Estimated age: 26]
(Drunk, sobbing) "Fuck you, Zo... I don't need anyone... I can... I... c..a.."
[This line happens a few years prior to the start of the comic. You are, once again, drunk and at home. This would be a typical line of when you are abusing Willow. You always find little excuses. This time, she didn't wash one of your shirts that you wanted to wear]
(Drunk, pissed off) "You useless piece of shit! What the fuck am I supposed to wear?! If you can't even do house chores, go live with your sorry excuse of a mother! You're just taking up space!"
Come up with some lines that you believe would fit this character. He can also be sober.
Alder is the younger twin brother of Lilac. He's pretty much the exact opposite of her. He isn't very popular, only having a couple of friends. Not many people even know of his existence. While his sister is bright and outgoing, he prefers to stay in the shadows, wear dark colored clothing, and be alone. Alder is almost similar to Corban, having a cold exterior and sharp tongue. He's often non-friendly to those who approach him, unlike his twin, who is extremely welcoming and friendly. The two are opposite, but he doesn't hate Lilac. Instead, he's extremely protective of her and put it on himself to weed out the fakes.
Alder is a minor character because you won't see him often. Usually, he will interact with Lilac or sometimes Willow. It should be noted that Willow is considered his second sister and only true best friend.
(Annoyed, over it) "You people are so sickening. Stop trying to weasel your way into my sister's circle. Not gonna happen."
(Cold, in a bad mood) "Can't you read the room? I don't like you."

With a diverse group, I do plan on having different languages be spoken. That said, I need people willing to help me write lines. The task is fairly simple, yet is very important to this story. So, here are the languages I plan on having:
Japanese
Spanish (I've taken Spanish in class, so I'm not a beginner. But I'm not fluent at all)
There might be Indian, but I'm on the fence on it.
We might also incorporate French, however it's not likely.
Being a translator can also be a huge help to future plans. We might begin putting this comic into different languages depending on how well it goes. For now, though, we just need help with lines
