Tarzan Genderbend Audio Drama

Tarzan Genderbend Audio Drama

Project Overview

Disney genderbend audio dramas are always the most highly requested, so let's get started with another one (even if we're only genderswapping the roles of Tarzan, Jane, and Mr. Porter).

Through a series of 11 linear one-shots, we see the story of Tarzan, a young woman raised by gorillas in the African jungle.

Tarzan is a strong and powerful woman who believes she is the only one of her kind. However, one fateful day has her meet three other humans, and she finds herself especially drawn to the young Englishman, James Porter.

Unfortunately, despite the growing attraction between the two of them, James must return back home to his life in England. After a dreadful mistake, Tarzan decides to leave the only home and mother she has ever known and travel with him.

But before the journey can commence, they are all betrayed by their guide, Clayton. Tarzan must rescue her family before Clayton kills them, and both Tarzan and James must decide where they truly belong.

RULES:

1) I am always willing to be flexible with deadlines as I understand real life has to come first, but I also won't wait around forever and will recast if you prove to be unreliable.

2) Give me emotion and feeling in your audition!  I have always leaned more towards voice actors who exhibit true passion in their voice.

3) Please be open to the idea of accepting a role you did not originally audition for.

4) Mic quality will play a huge role in casting decisions.  If you receive a better microphone, you will need to submit a new audition rather than just tell me you have one.

5) When I cast roles, I also look at your CCC profile.  The style of it (i.e. good grammar, the amount of information you supply, a profile picture) can influence my casting decision.

6) Communication will be done entirely through email, so you must have an email address that you check regularly. I will also have a Discord server to join, but it is not required to audition.

The narrator of the story.  Because this role carries much of the project, your voice should be pleasant to listen to, and you must enunciate well.  It is your job to keep readers engaged, so give life to the words.  As a director's choice, do not sound monotone but add many varying levels.  Narrate as if you are watching the action unfold right in front of you.  Make me feel what the characters are feeling.

  • Sabor (suh-BORE) charged, and Tarzan quickly moved to her right to evade her sharp claws. While Sabor had her back to her, Tarzan flipped onto the tree behind her and crawled all the way up while keeping a tight grip on her spear. Sabor surged after her with vicious fury, growling and swiping her paws.

  • James looked into her pleading and desperate eyes and felt his heart tearing right into two pieces. This wasn’t how this conversation was supposed to go. Feeling as if he was moving against an unyielding current, he gently pushed her back.

  • James seriously doubted Clayton had taught a parrot how to do anything. He imagined that most living creatures didn’t really like him very much.

Tarzan is a young woman who has lived in the jungle her entire life and was mainly raised by her ape mother, Kala.  She is an extremely talented and powerful fighter who uses both her strength and her wits to best her enemies.  Upon seeing a group of humans in the jungle, it is the first time she realizes that there are other creatures who are like her.

She is immediately attracted to the young man in the party, James Porter.  And while she tests every single one of his personal boundaries, he slowly begins to fall for her as well.

When James tells Tarzan that he has to return home to England, Tarzan pleas for him to stay with her instead.  James turns her down, and after Tarzan attacks Kerchak in order to protect the others, she decides that she must leave the jungle and go to England with James.

However, Clayton betrays them all and fatally wounds Kerchak.  Just before he dies, Kerchak tasks Tarzan with protecting their family and becoming the new leader which she accepts.

Just before James leaves, he realizes that he is in love with Tarzan and decides to stay in the jungle with her.

*Please note: this role is very sound-effects-heavy, so you can't hold back or be afraid to get physical and make a bunch of strange or loud noises.  While they are unusual, nothing should come across as silly, but the serious sounds from an intense fighter.

James is a young man from England on an expedition to study gorillas alongside his mother, Adelaide.  He is very kind and polite, and is constantly trying to get their guide, Clayton, to treat the jungle and the animals with respect.

He first meets Tarzan when she saves him from a ravenous pack of baboons, and though he is initially scared and doesn't know what to do in such a strange situation, he is able to find ways to communicate with Tarzan.  He won't admit it, but he is just as immediately attracted to her as she is to him.

From the start, James recognizes her incredible talents and skills and always treats her respectfully. When the boat arrives to take him back to England, Tarzan begs for him to stay with her instead, but he cannot abandon the life he has back home.  Tarzan takes him to see her gorilla family in an attempt to get him to stay, but after she attacks their family leader, she decides to go to England with him instead.

However, Clayton betrays all of them, and after he kills the gorilla leader, Tarzan is made the new leader of the family which means she cannot leave as she had planned.

James is devastated, but just before he goes back on to the ship, he realizes that he is in love with Tarzan and chooses to stay in the jungle with her.

Adelaide is James's mother.  She has spent her entire adult life studying gorillas and is absolutely ecstatic about the chance to see them in person.  In spite of her age, she is still well-equipped for the jungle's rough environment.

She cares very deeply for her son, and the two of them have a beautifully close relationship.  She is able to see that James is falling for Tarzan long before he realizes it himself.  At the end of the story, she is the one who encourages him to remain in the jungle because he will never truly be happy back in England because he is in love with Tarzan.

Adelaide then decides to stay in the jungle with him as well since there is nothing else waiting for her in England and she doesn't want to go back to just studying gorillas on paper.

Clayton is the Porters' guide and protector in the jungle.  He is temperamental, arrogant, and haughty.  He's also quite trigger-happy and will use his shotgun at the slightest provocation.

Secretly, he hopes to find the gorilla's nesting ground so he can poach them and sell them for money.  Though he maintains control in almost all situations, by the end of the story when Tarzan has thwarted his efforts, any reason he has is completely gone and he viciously attacks in a fiery rage.  This proves to be his undoing when he maniacally cuts multiple vines without realizing which ones he's cutting until a vine wraps around his neck and abruptly stops his fall to the jungle floor.

Kala is Tarzan's adoptive ape mother.  We see her in two scenes in the story.

In the first scene, Kala comforts a young Tarzan about her differences and Kerchak's dislike of her and tells her about the child she lost to Sabor several years beforehand.

In the second scene, Kala shows an adult Tarzan the treehouse where she was found as a baby and the lost memories of her birth mother and father.  Upon seeing all of this, Tarzan decides to leave the jungle and shares a tearful parting with the only mother she has ever known.

Kerchak is the leader of Tarzan's gorilla family.  He is stern and frightening, but all of this stems from a deep-rooted fear of losing someone like he'd lost his child.

The main scene we see him is at the very end after Clayton has fatally wounded him.  As he lays dying, he tells Tarzan that she has always been part of their family and that she must now be the one to lead them.
