Taking place in a fantasy world, the story focuses on Luke fon Fabre, a young swordsman whose pampered life turns upside down when he unwittingly becomes the target of a military-religious organization known as the Order of Lorelei, who believe him to be the key to an ancient prophecy. Together with his companions, Luke attempts to discover the truth and significance of his own birth, as well as unravel the mystery of The Score, the prophecy that has bound humanity's actions for thousands of years.
uke fon Fabre is a teenager who has been held in his manor for years by his uncle, the King of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear, after being kidnapped and started suffering amnesia. As Luke's teacher and the Commandant of the Oracle Knight, Van, has to leave to search for the Fon Master Ion, a girl known as Tear Grants tries to kill him. As Luke intervenes, the Seventh Fonons in the two individuals' bodies react causing a hyperresonance, a reaction that sends the two flying to a land faraway. Tear then decides to escort Luke back to the manor in Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. However, the duo finds themselves in Malkuth. The two meet Fon Master Ion as well as Colonel Jade Curtiss from the Malkuth forces who informs them of an impending war. Jade requires Luke's status as a noble to convince the King of Kimlasca to stop his forces and prevent the war.
As Luke's group heads back to Kimlasca, they are aided by Fon Master Guardian Anise and Luke's servant Guy Cecil. Luke learns that Tear is Van's younger sister who believes her brother to hold an unknown scheme that threatens the world. They also encounter the members from the Oracle Knights with one of them, Asch, sharing an extreme resemblance to Luke. In Kimlasca, Luke, Jade and Ion inform the King of their worries. Luke is then made an ambassador and is sent to Akzeriuth to help the people who are being poisoned by miasma. Van tells Luke he can neutralize the miasma by using his own hyperresonance which the King has been aware of to use him as a weapon. Luke decides to follow his master's plan. However, in Akzeriuth the hyperresonance destroys the land's Sephiroth tree, making the entire town be consumed by the miasma.
Blaming Luke for his actions, Asch also reveals Luke is the result of fomicry, a replica based on the real Luke fon Fabre: Asch. As Luke's friends abandon him for what he did to Akzeriuth, Luke starts detesting his current form and makes a promise to Tear to change for the best. He then starts working with Jade to protect the people of St. Binah whose town is also collapsing like Akzeriuth. In order to prevent more of these collapses, the group takes advantage of Luke's hyperresonance skills to move the land to the subarea, the Qliphoth. In the meantime, they are opposed by Van's forces except Asch who is against his master's wishes of a new world populated by replicas in order to go against the score. After making a peace treaty between Kimlasca and Malkuth, Luke's group defeats Van who falls to the Planet's Core.
A month after Van's defeat and moving the world population to the Qliphoth, the miasma starts affecting mankind. Additionally, a large number of replicas start appearing. Luke and Asch learn from the spirit of the Seventh Fonon, Lorelei, that Van has survived and took it. Grand Maestro Mohs from the Order of Lorelei forces Ion to read the Planet Score, killing him in the process. Mohs then forms the New Order of

Jade reveals that the miasma can be neutralized through a hyperresonance that sacrifices a large amount of lives. The replicas offer themselves in exchange that the rest of their kind are given home. Luke offers himself to perform the hyperresonance and although the plan is a success, Luke is left with little time to live.
The group then heads to confront the New Order of Lorelei who wish to follow Van's will. In confronting the remaining God Generals, Asch dies while helping Luke to reach Van. The group defeats Van who had sealed Lorelei inside his right arm and kill him. As the area starts collapsing, Luke decides to stay behind to free Lorelei. Two years later, he reappears to meet Tear and the rest of his friends.

Personality. Generally Tear is detached and emotionally reserved, giving her a stoic demeanor. Tear but when not chastising Luke, she is polite and respectful to all, particularly to those in positions of authority. She also has a secret weak spot for cute things.

The reason for voicing both Luke and Asch is since they are literally the same person except Asch is the original and Luke is a replica.
Luke is a young swordsman who has been living in a mansion in the Kimlasca Kingdom for seven years after being kidnapped and suffering from amnesia. His pampered life turns upside down when he unwittingly becomes the target of a military-religious organization known as the Order of Lorelei, who believe him to be the key to an ancient prophecy. Across his journey, Luke fights to stop an impending war and matures as a person.
Asch is the original Luke fon Fabre. As a child, Luke took his responsibilities as the future ruler of Kimlasca extremely seriously, developing a cold and impersonal disposition. However, his love for his country and people was evident during this time, and he made a promise to Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear that he would marry her and create a world where "no one has to be poor" and "war never happens". When he was ten, Luke was kidnapped by Van Grants to make a replica, who would later become known as Luke fon Fabre after assuming the position that Luke once held within the kingdom. The original Luke then became known as "Asch".
You don't need to so this one but I'd you want to experiment a bit with it you can at this point Luke has become his own person and is no longer arrogant of everyone around him if you need watch the Luke vs Asch boss battle on YouTube for an idea on how to play the roles thank you.
Note if you do this audition there will be a much higher chance I'll look this one over first
ASCH: "Only one of us can leave this room. The stronger one will destroy Van! This isn't about hyperresonance or who is or isn't a replica... As two of Van's pupils, we're going to find out who's stronger... who the real "Luke" is. This is a fight to settle "who we are".
LUKE: "We're both real. You and I are two different people!"
(Brutally aggressive)ASCH: "Shut up! THIS ISN'T ABOUT LOGIC! You can't "possibly" understand how I feel! You stole "my past" AND "my future"! Now is all the "time" I have!"
LUKE: "...Now is all I have, too." (Pause) "I don't even have a past to lose. But I've still decided that I'm "me". It doesn't matter what you think. Here I am. If that's the source of the strength you're talking about, then "I WON'T LOSE"!
ASCH: "Well said. I will make those words YOUR LAST, REPLICCCAAAAAAAAA!"
Luke
Can't remember exactly when this is but I believe it is shortly after Luke destroys the mining town Akzeriuth
"All I ever did was pay attention to myself. And I’m not even sure I saw myself clearly."
Asch
Right before his final battle with Luke when. Luke falls into the same trap he did.
"House Fabre must have really stupid genes. Even my replica fell into the same trap!"
Jade's sarcastic and harsh words are often well-founded, and he uses them to express his often disapproving opinions. Other than amusement, Jade rarely shows any sign of his emotions. However, occasionally he loses his composure and his emotions burst out. The subject of fomicry in particular is a sore spot for Jade, as it reminds him of his past sins. He lashes out at Spinoza and Dist for continuing to create living replicas, firmly stating that he forbid replication of living things for important reasons. Whenever Jade's feelings betray his calm and collected mask, he quickly distances himself from them.
"Yes. Human life is a valuable thing. But if we sit here and do nothing, a war will start, and even more people will die."
Classic Jade and you don't need to do all of these do how ever many you are comfortable with. Go with a playful or sarcastic tone
"No, no. I've been frail since birth [fake coughs] I suppose the score won't matter if everyone's dead."
"Don't worry, the worst that could happen is we all die."
"Oh I assure you, I'm crying inside, racked with guilt."
(Talking about dist)
"It'll take more than that to kill him. He has the tenacity of a cockroach."
(Talking to ash)
"What’s wrong? You look like you just swallowed a bug… Oh, wait, you always look like that."
Van is the Commandant of the Oracle Knights within the Order of Lorelei, serving as the commander of the God-Generals. Van is the primary antagonist of Tales of the Abyss. He is also Luke's sword instructor and mentor. At first he seems warm and like a caring figure to Luke always motivating him to push on until after Luke fulfills his purpose afterwards van treats Luke like garbage.
(talking to Luke as he kills him) for reference look for the final boss at the end of the game
"Stop! After everything that's happened, you still call me master. You fool..."
(Van to tear as he escapes Akzeriuth as it is destroyed and sunk)
"Mystearica. someday you'll come to understand the folly and ugliness of this world. I want you to live, at least long enough for me to see you come to you're senses. You have the fonic hymns use them.
Natalia is very compassionate and yet also a little spoiled but quickly adjusts. She is very empathetic and often struggles to make difficult decisions regarding life or death situations.
(right after Luke questions why she followed them into the abandoned factory and why she is dressed the way she is)

"Why do you think? two bitter enemies are finally about to make peace. this is no time for a princess to be sitting at home.(After King Ingobert VI reveals that Largo the Black Lion is Natalia's true father)

"I'm going to ask him myself. I can still catch him if i hurry. I refuse to accept this?"
Ion is optimistic and soft-spoken, tending to point out the positive aspects of a person's character, even if their negative qualities are overwhelming. Despite being physically weak and docile, he attempts to use his leadership to lead the world to peace, and exhibits great maturity. He refuses to be a puppet, and creates a separate faction to oppose the strictly traditional Mohs, the second in command of the Order. Unlike Mohs, Ion views the Score as one possible future out of many.
(talking about cheagles upon first seeing one)
"Though for a sacred beast, I have to admit I was expecting something a bit more... majestic."(explaining to the group what happened to Anise)

"The poor thing must've been terrified. She screamed, "I'll kill you bastards!" as she fell."
As a replica, Sync is given the impression that if he is unable to be a substantial substitute for his original, then he is not worth existing. He not only considers himself a mere replacement, but a "failed" one, which results in him cursing his existence. He often uses the word "trash" to describe himself, having literally been "thrown away" upon birth. Sync chooses to aid Van in his plan to destroy the Score, the root cause of his "empty, pathetic life", and becomes a God-General for this sole purpose. Unlike the replica Ion, Sync views himself as unneeded, empty, and expendable. Also very sadistic, he blames Luke for the destruction of Akzeriuth, calling him "that replica there", and later purposely reveals his face, acting and speaking like Ion in order to irritate the party, as well as mock Ion after Ion's death.
(Sync's speech right before his final battle and death)
"I may be inferior but my power of the Seventh Fonon is that of the Fon Master. You would know if I unleashed my full power! Let's test it. You, or the empty me. Let's see which side this world wants to survive!"
Largo is a very serious character who uses intimidation in order to gain an advantage and likes to use large weapons in combat. He has a deep bitter loathing for the score and follows Van's intentions of ridding the world of it. He formerly was a very compassionate individual but tragedy made his entire character change to a bitter angry brute.
(responding to Luke after Luke called him by his real name)
"That name died long ago, in the sea of Baticul, where my wife sleeps.""Van's plan... our plan is twisted. But without a medicine this strong, the world will follow Yulia's Score... and die."
(Finals words to his daughter Natalia as he dies)
"Show your enemy... no mercy. With shallow feelings like that, you'll never... defeat him... Farewell, Meryl "
Legretta has a staccatoed voice and tends to speak loudly when she is prepared to attack. However, when speaking with Tear, Van, or the other God-Generals, her voice is more gentle, masking her formidable fighting skill. Being a soldier, Legretta is intelligent, calculating, and dangerous. She often speaks calmly and is very persuasive when it comes to negotiation and explaining her beliefs to others. Legretta remains loyal to Van alone, fulfilling her orders at all times, regardless of how grisly they may be.

"this world is completely controlled by the score. People read it for anything they do. the score rules their lives don't you think thats wrong?"
(responding to Ion as he explains it's a tool that can help them follow the correct path)
"Perhaps for you fon master. but most people depend on the score. it controls them. the worse cases consult the score to see what they should have for dinner. you are no different,"
Dist is a narcissist with a flamboyant sense of style, as shown by his ostentatious, flying chair and unique collar, and he possesses both an affectedly soft yet haughty voice to match his vain personality. His blind dedication to the cause of reviving his childhood instructor illustrates a stubborn inability to let go of the past.
(angered about the other god general ignoring him)
"Now, who do you think you are? Just you wait! I'm putting this down in my revenge journal!"(Dist introducing himself to the group...at least those that don't know him)
"Ahh Hah Hah hah hah!
(a bit more over the top on the second laugh)
Ahh Hah Hah Hah Hah!."
"listen you ignorant savages, and you shall hear my beautiful name. i am the most graceful member of the six god generals the one and only Dist the--" (gets cut off my Jade calling him Dist the Runny)
(annoyed)
"it's Rose! R-O-S-E, Rose! Dist the Rose!
Arietta is very timid, shy, and naive, though believes in her personal ideals strongly. She despises Anise for "taking Ion away" from her, which, due to her lack of knowledge that the Ion she cared for is dead, makes her hatred largely unnecessary. Her determination in obtaining vengeance for the death of her "mommy", the Liger Queen, drives her to fulfill Van's wishes. While she is deeply devoted to Van, she cares more for Ion, even betraying the other God-Generals in order to save his replica. Arietta is also very emotional, often allowing her feelings to inhibit her priorities. She acts on sentimentality rather than reason, and her demeanor is childlike, which is somewhat characterized by her feral childhood.
(confronting the group about how they killed the Liger queen that raised her)
"You killed Mommy! Now you die!"
(furious after Luke uses Mieu to blast a fire ball at her monster friend)
"You shot fire...at my friend! I'm really going to make you pay now!"
Mohs is Grand Maestro of the Order of Lorelei, second in rank only to the Fon Master. However, due to the Order being divided among factions, there are those who favor Mohs over Ion, resulting in his influence over the Order. Dedicated to the fulfillment of Yulia's Score, he goes through great lengths to accomplish his goals. He orchestrates a grand plot to fulfill the Score by encouraging heads of state to war, even going so far as to provide false information.
(aggravated after the group chases him down to the port after fleeing from his arrest)
"Please! those who must atone for their crimes are you fools who would ignore the score!"
