Highway Interceptor (BeamNG.Drive Short Film) Voice Acting and Team Member Auditions

Project Overview

Hello! This casting call was created to host auditions for a Gacha voice acted short film named “Highway Interceptor” as well as team auditions (under my recently founded studio, Suburban Works).

If you’re wishing to audition as a voice actor, feel free to read Highway Interceptor’s short synopsis below and some short voice audition guidelines. If you’re wishing to audition as a team member, please scroll down until you find a sub-heading titled “What is Suburban Works?”

THIS IS PRIMARILY NOT A PAID PROJECT, ALTHOUGH SOME ROLES WILL BE PAID ON A SMALL BUDGET. YOU WILL NEED PAYPAL IF YOU ARE CASTED FOR A PAID ROLE.

Highway Interceptor Synopsis:

Street Crew leader Gilbert Peña and his partner Alexis Dean travel to the barren deserts of Northern Nevada in hopes of finding and intercepting a trailer hauling a shipment belonging to Edward Porter, who is the president of one of the largest crime syndicates in the United States. Avoiding Porter’s henchman and local law enforcement, the duo must successfully intercept and hijack the cargo inside the trailer. But why does Gilbert want it so badly?

Extra Notes:

•Highway Interceptor will mostly contain footage filmed directly from a video game called BeamNG.Drive, a dynamic soft-body physics vehicle simulator.  Animators will be in charge of creating 2D animations while the VFX team composites them into 3D footage (BeamNG).

•The script for the film is already complete, and it will contain moderate profanity.

VOICE AUDITION GUIDELINES:

•You must be over the age of 13 to audition.

•You must have a proper form of communication (Discord, CCC, Gmail) in the event of you being casted for this project. Please provide them in your audition’s description.

•You must list how many months/years of experience you’ve had with voice acting, as well as what equipment you use.

•A microphone (minimum entry-level) is required.

What is Suburban Works?

Suburban Works is an independent studio looking to provide the gacha community with high-quality voice acted content, whether it’d be a multi-episode series or a feature-length film. We are looking to go beyond your typical teen-romance story, and telling stories that will leave audiences entertained and provoking thoughts. We envision being the ultimate pioneers of the gacha community, with rivaling (the good kind) against even the biggest names in the community such as RosyClozy and SenpaiWolfe when it comes to making content.

Below, you will be able to find guidelines for auditioning, as well as available roles. We are estimating that 20-50 team members will be needed for the studio to operate at its fullest, so we need as much auditions as possible! (Feel free to spread the word about this project too).

We’ve also created a separate Google Document containing extra information regarding auditions, as well as some background information on Suburban Works. You can find and read it here.

We highly suggest that you read this document if this is your first time auditioning for a studio!

Audition Guidelines

  • You must be 13 years or older to audition for this studio.

  • You must have a proper form of communication (Discord, Gmail, Casting Call Club)

  • If you specialize in more than one certain position, you are free to audition for other positions!

  • When auditioning, you must include a file (mp3, mp4, jpeg, png, WAV) for whatever position you are auditioning for.

  • When auditioning, you are required to list how many months/years of experience you’ve had with the position you are applying for.

  • When auditioning, you are required to list what applications you use (Sound Department Auditioners are also required to list what equipment they use).

  • Duplicate auditions are not permitted.

  • (MARKETING/QA DEPARTMENT AUDITIONS ONLY) You are required to list what projects, campaigns, events etc. you have participated in, as well as provide proof. If you are auditioning as a social media manager, you are required to send links to social media accounts you have created for said events.

  • If you get casted for a role in Suburban Works, you are signing a mutual agreement that under most circumstances, you are to not leave the team unless extremely necessary. As a director it is frustrating to have a team member leave a team for a project for unknown reasons that were not stated, or otherwise. It really affects the workflow of the studio as a whole even when the team count is significantly large.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me via my Discord handle, or send me a message on CCC!

Latest Updates

  • Important Update (#2)

Hello. An unexpected situation that has recently arisen has pushed back the casting date another week. Apologies for the inconvenience but this situation has taken a huge chunk out of my schedule.
  • Important Update

Hello everyone, hope you’re having a good day so far. I have come to the conclusion that this project will no longer pertain to including Gacha/Chibi characters. I have made this decision upon the realization of a tight schedule, and animating will simply push the initial release date 1-2 months ahead. I am trying to get this film out by the end of this year. This does not mean the project is cancelled, it will still go on. However, it is now a BeamNG mini movie, rather than a BeamNG/Gacha Club mini movie. If you had auditioned as a team member for anything related to animating, model rigging or anything related to Gacha, you are still being casted for a future planned project that will not involve BeamNG.Drive. Voice actors will still be casted and some changes to the script will be made. Apologies for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused, but this project is too small to have such an extended release date. -Johnathan A, director of Suburban Works
  • One little thing

Oops, forgot to mention this in the initial update. The closed roles may display a message saying “cast to offsite actor” but this does not mean we have already casted someone! Aside from some team member roles, this is temporary!
  • Auditions closed!

Hello everyone, after a long 2 month wait, auditions for Highway Interceptor are now being officially closed! Please allow us at least 1-2 weeks to sort through auditions, as we had received more than what we anticipated, as well as set up the Highway Interceptor cast server. Casted members will be personally contacted after this 1-2 week period. If you did not receive an email or a message via Gmail/Discord, you were not casted. But please do not give up! There’s lots of projects out on CCC that you can audition for!
  • Small notes

Hey auditioners. Just wanted to clarify that team member auditions do not specifically apply for this project, but for my studio. I wanted to clear that up in case anybody got confused over it. Have a good day!

Gilbert Peña

Gilbert Peña is a 28 year old male who is the leader of one of the most well-respected street crews in Las Vegas. Born in Los Angeles, California, Gilbert initially came from a wealthy background, but a growing hatred between him and his overly-demanding family prompted him to running from home at the age of 17. With help from friends at the time, he eventually relocated to Las Vegas where he gained an interest in illicit street racing, and even rebuilt his old car, making it one hell of a beast. 11 years later, him and his crew of 8 dominate the streets of Las Vegas at night. They don’t call it the city that never sleeps for nothing, right?

Personality: Although he’s mostly serious and on-topic, Gilbert is prone to making jokes, even in times where it’s not really appropriate. He can also get mildly reckless on the road and has a moderate temper sometimes.

Voice Pith: Medium to Low

  • (Semi-optimistic) And if you haven’t noticed already she can handle pretty well on the tarmac. Just- don’t hit any cacti of anything.

  • (Joking) Like his life was any better than mine, you still have the signal?

  • They got interceptors coming at us, you’re gonna have to distract them once I get this thing outta here.

29 year-old Alexis Dean initially grew up being a straight-A honor roll student and tech geek throughout her school days. Eventually graduating and receiving a bachelors in software development, she went on to become a software engineer for a Denver-based tech company before being transferred to one of their subsidiaries in Las Vegas. Around a year ago, she later befriended Gilbert after running into him at a casino (he was pretty drunk, and wanted to take him home for some reason). From then on, she quickly became one of Gilbert’s closest members of the crew, while also still working for the tech company and developing gadgets for Gilbert to use.

Personality: Logical-thinking, but tense situations lead up to her responding anxiously.

Voice Pitch:  Any

  • Uhh, we’ve been preparing for this for like 2 weeks?

  • (Concerned) They’re going Gilbert-

Personality: Calm and intelligent, but he’s not afraid to destroy anything that gets in his way.

Issued with non-lethal weapons, and purpose-built police vehicles, the officers of the Nevada Highway Patrol unit are ready to take on anybody that is idiotic enough to take their vehicles for a joyride as well as your generic domestic disturbance calls.

Extra notes: This role will require heavy usage of a naturalistic tone of voice, considering that these guys are law enforcement officers. The lines regarding this role and a separate role will be using real-life police codes used within the Nevada State Police and Nevada Highway Patrol.

The audition lines for this role do not appear in the final script. Please attempt to sound as naturalistic as possible.

Voice Pitch: Medium to Low

Sometimes, certain calls may not be enough for Highway Patrol to properly respond and contain. That’s where the Nevada Interceptor Units come in. Equipped with state-of-the-art pursuit technology, heavily modified interceptor units provided directly by car manufacturers themselves, and being one of the most elite and well respected law enforcement agency in the American southwest, you can assure that Nevada Interceptors will respond and contain any call with ease.

Extra Notes: Just like the Highway Patrol Units, this role will require heavy use of a naturalistic tone of voice. Please try your best when auditioning!

•Despite being fictional, this sub-division of the NHP still uses real-life police codes used by NHP and NSP.

•This is a voiceover role, and I will need at least 2 VAs for this role as there are 2 interceptor units in total.

Caller says one of the vehicles are colored in red, they can’t quite get an accurate description of the vehicles but they are both doing burnouts on the road and blocking traffic.
