Starbound 2-D animated pilot
Project Overview
Star Bound is an original 2D animated adventure series from FF Productions, following Astro, a young fox whose curiosity about the world around him leads him somewhere he never expected.
Astro loves exploring, asking questions and dreaming about what might exist beyond the stars. His closest friend, Nova, is a young rabbit who is a little more cautious, but she’s always willing to follow Astro into another adventure.
One night, a strange object falls from the sky and changes everything.
The Star Bound pilot introduces Astro, Nova and their world on Earth, as they begin to uncover something far bigger than they could have imagined. What starts as a simple adventure through their forest slowly becomes the beginning of a journey beyond their home.
The pilot will focus on character, friendship, atmosphere and mystery, while setting up a much larger universe for future stories.
As the series develops, Star Bound may expand beyond Earth into new worlds filled with unique animal characters, planets, mysteries and adventures.
This project is being created as an independent FF Productions production, with the aim of bringing together a small creative team to build an original animated series from the ground up.
We’re currently looking for voice actors, 2D animators and a storyboard artist to help bring the pilot to life.

FF Productions | Volunteer Project | 3+ Positions
About Star Bound
What if one mysterious crystal could change the fate of an entire forest?
Star Bound is an original indie animated fantasy adventure following Astro, an adventurous young fox, and Nova, his cautious but loyal rabbit friend. When a mysterious black crystal falls from the sky, their ordinary world begins to change, setting the stage for a much bigger adventure.

The Role
We’re looking for at least three 2D animators to help bring the pilot to life. The work will be split between animators, so you will be assigned scenes rather than being expected to animate the entire episode alone.
You may animate character movement, facial expressions, dialogue acting, environmental movement and special moments such as the crystal’s appearance and Astro and Nova’s developing transformations.
The director will provide the approved script, storyboards and character references. You’ll work with the director to turn these into expressive, polished animation that keeps the characters and scenes consistent.

Some experience with 2D animation, or a strong animation portfolio.
Ability to create readable movement, expressions and character acting.
Ability to follow storyboards, character references and direction.
Willingness to communicate, accept feedback and make agreed revisions.
Reliability and a willingness to work with a small indie team.
Original, artist-created animation that fits the agreed style.
Software: Blender Grease Pencil is preferred. Toon Boom and other suitable 2D animation software are also welcome. Please mention which software you use when applying.
How to Audition
Please send an animation showreel, a previous animation, or a short sample that demonstrates your skills. Let us know what software you use and which kinds of scenes you are most comfortable animating.

Well, just remember—the meteor’s supposed to be visible tonight!
Whatever you say. See ya, Astro!
About the Wise Old Stag
The Wise Old Stag is a mature, thoughtful presence in the forest. He offers advice to younger characters, sees more than he always lets on, and has a quiet sense of humour. He isn’t simply a grumpy old deer—his wisdom comes from experience, patience and understanding.
The character has one broken antler and a calm, measured presence. His dialogue helps establish the story’s themes of curiosity, caution and the consequences of ignoring warnings.
Role Status
This role has already been cast and is not accepting auditions. The creator/director will be voicing the Wise Old Stag in the pilot.
Project Details
Star Bound is a volunteer, unpaid indie production from FF Productions. The role will be credited in the finished project.

About Vexar
Vexar is a powerful, regal and intimidating antagonist with a television-shaped head and a distinctive, animal-like appearance. He commands attention wherever he goes, carrying himself with confidence and authority.
He isn’t simply an angry villain. Vexar is intelligent, calculating and capable of sounding charming when it benefits him. He prefers to stay in control, and even when he sounds calm, there should be a sense that something dangerous lies beneath his words.
We’re looking for a voice that feels distinctive, memorable and theatrical without becoming a generic monster voice. We want someone who can make Vexar sound convincing, whether he’s speaking quietly, making a threat or revealing his excitement about a new opportunity.
Vexar will have quite a lot of singing scenes and solo parts later in the series so he needs to have the ability to sing.
You’re welcome to include an additional original line if you want to demonstrate your interpretation of Vexar.
Voice Requirements
● A confident, distinctive voice suited to a powerful villain.
● Ability to switch between charm, intelligence, menace and controlled anger.
● Clear pronunciation and expressive delivery.
● Willingness to take direction and provide additional takes.
● A quiet recording environment with minimal background noise.
You don’t need professional voice-acting experience or expensive equipment. Phone recordings are welcome as long as they’re clear, with no added music, sound effects or voice filters.
Future Role
Vexar is planned as a future character who will appear later in the season, rather than having a major speaking role in the pilot. We’re casting early so we can find the right actor and plan ahead.
If selected, you may not need to record anything immediately. The role, expected workload and recording schedule will be discussed with you before work begins.
A villain song may also be planned for a future episode. Singing is a bonus, not a requirement for this audition. Any song would be handled separately, with its own lyrics and instructions.
