Spider-Man: The Friendly Neighborhood Dub
Project Overview
What is this?
This is going to be a series of fandubs for the comic books for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
For those of you unfamiliar with the character, Peter Parker is a shy, bookish, and constantly picked-on high school student who lives with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben in Forest Hills, Queens due to the death of his parents. On a field trip to a science lab, he was bitten by a radioactive spider, giving him amazing powers: the proportional strength of a spider, the ability to crawl on walls, a Spider-Sense to warn him of danger, as well as super-fast reflexes. A brilliant young man and budding inventor, Peter developed his own formula for an adhesive fluid that resembles and mimics a spider's web which he fires from wrist-mounted shooters, working as both a grappling tool and a projectile weapon. Initially ebullient and overawed by his transformation from picked-on kid to superhuman, a tragic mistake that leads to the death of his beloved Uncle Ben permanently instills in Peter a sense of responsibility and duty to his fellow citizen. As the web-slinging, wall-crawling Spider-Man, Peter fights crime while trying to keep his identity secret from his widowed Aunt May and the public at large, even if as a superhero from a struggling background starting with almost entirely independent resources, he has few ways to defend himself from the misunderstandings and weak communication caused by his actions in the public eye.

Spider-Man is commonly seen as a brave and righteous hero with an indomitable sense of justice and responsibility. Peter was shaken by his uncle's tragic death, resulting in his vow of responsibility leading him to the path of heroism and humanitarian service. One of Spider-Man's most prominent traits is his sense of humor, even in the face of certain death, Spider-Man can invariably crack a joke to the annoyance of both friends and foes. His reasons for this vary; either he wants to relieve the stress of a situation, or simply because he wants to hide how scared he is during a crisis, he also does this to get on the nerves of his opponents, since he knows that if they are angry, that they would generally lose themselves and be a vulnerable opponent. It is generally agreed, however, that whenever a life is in danger, he will stop telling jokes and take the current situation strictly seriously. Spider-Man is also a loner, due to his individualistic style (having been a social outcast in his youth), Spider-Man finds it hard to work in teams. However, he gradually lessened over the years, to the point where Spider-Man is a member of the Avengers, the New Avengers, and the Future Foundation.
I just dropped by to congratulate you on a perfect record! So far you've been 100 % wrong about me! I've got to hand it to you -- I'll bet it's not easy to make a fool out of yourself all the time!
Fate gave me some terrific super-powers, and I realize now that it's my duty to use them... without doubt... without hesitation!! ...and that means Spider-Man is going into action again! I'll fight as I've never fought before!! Nothing will stop me now! For I know at last that a man can't change his destiny... and I was born to be... Spider-Man!!!
Time for the main event, Venom! Time to get body-slammed in the face......by your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
Mary Jane is Peter's love interest and wife. She is an empathetic and understanding person, willing to give the benefit of the doubt to friends and take the time to wrap her head around something. Having grown up in an abusive household due to her father's teaching positions and frustrations in private, Mary Jane coped with the emotional trauma by acting with an extroverted personality, which was useful in her pursuits of an acting career. Mary Jane is also shown to be a dedicated person as she kept pursuing her acting career and worked hard to open a business. Due to her training as an actress, she also has great insight and almost always knows when someone is pretending or lying. She is also an exceptionally trustworthy character, having kept Peter's secret identity as Spider-Man since high school on the night Uncle Ben died, seeing him exit his room in costume and not telling anyone. And over the years, she would secretly become fascinated by Peter with his nerdy self contrasted by his actions as Spider-Man saving people.
Three living, breathing males to one gal, eh? Where has this place been all my life?
Danger is my middle name. I have it monogrammed on all of my towels.
You're not going to kill me Kaine... you won't even hurt me. You can't. Not if all you've told me is true. If you are a clone of Peter Parker's... then deep down, you're as good as he is. Being a clone doesn't make you... or my husband... any less of a man. You're alive! Where and how you were born into this world just doesn't matter. Peter...my Peter... has always done the right thing... has defined himself by his actions.. not by whether he was born or cloned. He has lived a valuable life for the past five years I've known him. And now I'm carrying his child... I'm not going to let him throw away the life we've shared together. Peter is a person... and so are you! Prove yourself, Kaine! By your actions! Don't let Ben be killed! Don't let the Jackal kill anymore! Do what Peter would do! Do the right thing. You have the Power... now accept the responsibility!
Gwen Stacy was a classmate of Peter Parker while they were undergraduates at Empire State University. Initially, Peter's problems as Spider-Man made him ignore her advances, and in return, she felt insulted by his aloofness. Gradually, however, a romance developed. Gwen, a science major, seemed to appreciate Peter's intellectual personality, different from that of jocks like Flash Thompson and preppies like Harry Osborn. She was Peter Parker's first true love.
On Earth-65, Gwen was the one bitten by a genetically-engineered spider and granted arachnid-like superpowers, and started a career as a crimefighter, dubbed by the media as "Spider-Woman." She was given a costume and a set of web-shooters by retired crimefighter Janet van Dyne. In this universe, Gwen is a free-spirited individual with artistic inclinations, traits that would put her at odds with the types of ethics her father tried to instill. She has an interest in music, hence her role as a drummer in the Mary Janes, and a love for corn dogs. Like her father, Gwen possesses a strong sense of justice and is a natural detective, both of which catered well to her decision to become a superhero after receiving her powers.
You said "Peter Parker doesn't have the guts"?!! ... You crummy, dim-witted loudmouth! He could be half the man he is... and still make up ten of you!!!
Every person on this whole stupid planet is counting on you, Peter Parker. Promise me. Do your job. Make me proud.
[As Spider-Woman on Earth-65] So I'm saving a grown man from a monster. Not the worst way for a teenage girl to spend her Friday evening.
May Parker Jameson, better known as Aunt May, is the aunt of Peter Parker. May raised her nephew Peter Parker with her husband Ben after Peter's parents were killed in a plane crash. May was often overprotective of Peter, believing he was fragile, but after Peter angrily picked a fight with a group of kids that were mocking him, May said he had the heart of a tiger. After Ben was murdered, May became depressed and struggled to pay bills. At first, she hated the new vigilante Spider-Man, but after he saved her from the same burglar that killed Ben, she took a more positive view of him.
It never hurts to make a good impression. Who knows, someday someone might want to make a movie about you.
You're a sensitive boy, Peter. You always have been. But don't think you're responsible for every evil man you come across. That all too easily becomes an excuse to do nothing. Sometimes good men need a little blind enthusiasm.
Some people by nature are kind and charitable. You could say that some people, including at least one person at this table, are by their nature heroes. Ben always reminded me that we each contain all the nobler and meaner aspects of humanity, but some get a bigger dose than others of one thing or another. Some are pretty, and mean, and uncharitable. That's their nature. You can hope for better, even try to lead them to better, and you may even succeed.
Bitten by another genetically-enhanced spider, 13-year-old Miles Morales was given powers similar to Peter before him, to his dismay. The death of Spider-Man, soon publicly revealed to be the young Peter Parker, shocked Miles out of apathy. Miles convinced himself that acting earlier and revealing himself as an ally to Peter could have spared New York's hero. Finding the will to act, Miles dons a makeshift suit to help fill in the void Spidey left.
NOTE: African-American POC preferred for this role.
You have no idea, in mid-fight, how often I think about pulling someone's head right off and I-- It's thoughts like that that make me worry that I am more like my dad and uncle than I want to admit. I worry that my dad isn't the guy I want him to be... that he's just pretending because I showed up in his life. I worry that it's in my DNA. My family... that we're just... not good.
I'm not an Avenger. I'm not Thor. Or Cap. Or Peter. I'm just a kid in a mask. Doing the best I can. But I'll never give up on the world. Or this city. Or anyone that needs me. I'm Miles Morales. And I'm Spider-Man.
Time to let you in on a little family secret, Billie. See, I'm not just your big brother. I'm... Spider-Man! Don't tell anyone, okay?
J. Jonah Jameson is the publisher at The Daily Bugle. Jameson is a highly complex individual. He comes off as a bad-tempered, bossy, demanding, loud, and somewhat bitter old man. His most infamous trait is his immense, almost irrational hatred of Spider-Man, and his constant attempts at proving that Spider-Man is a public menace. It is unknown why exactly Jameson hates Spider-Man so, but he alludes to several reasons. On one side, it shows that his hatred of Spider-Man is not exclusive, but comes from a general distrust of superheroes and superhumans, as Jameson believes them to be irresponsible and untrustworthy. Other times, it's shown he doesn't hate Spider-Man per se. Still, rather sees the hero as a figure he can slander to sell papers, as he is a publisher, therefore is doing it not out of malice, but rather using Spider-Man as a way to push his wares so he can get more money.
Don't make me laugh! If there really is a giant lizard down south, Spider-Man will never tackle him! He'd rather stay here, fighting two-bit hoods and making a rep for himself!
Foswell? He was just a cog in the wheel! I was the master planner! The entire capture of the Crime-Master took place under my personal direction! But my own natural modesty prevents me from bragging about it!
The battle of the century is about to begin, right here near the Daily Bugle, and I don't have one %$!!?#$#!* photographer to cover it! How can this happen to a doll-boy like me?!!
Greedy, vengeful, and cynical, much of Felicia Hardy's life has been shaped by loss and trauma -- leaving her a jaded woman who looks out for herself at the expense of others. Despite scoffing at the idea of being a superhero, Felicia has frequently acted as a vigilante antihero - largely due to Spider-Man's influence on her; and has also at times gone straight and used her powers for good as both a vigilante and a private investigator. Encouraged by her father to always be the best, Felicia channeled her rage and humiliation at having been raped into following in her father's footsteps as a cat-burglar. After adopting the persona of the Black Cat, Felicia reveled in the freedom it gave her and all but completely discarded her civilian identity, being perplexed by Spider-Man's unwillingness to do so as well. Hating feeling weak more than anything, Felicia bargained with the Kingpin to obtain superpowers after nearly being killed by Doctor Octopus, but this cost her relationship with Spider-Man and wasn't enough to save her from nearly being killed by Venom.
And there I was thinking I'd gotten my evening nicely planned. A little innocent art theft followed by hot cocoa and steamy chick-lit.
--I'm just your bad-girl ex-girlfriend, so what does it matter? I think we've gone a little deeper than that, haven't we? I think we owe each other a little more respect than that, don't we? A phone call, an e-mail -- would that have killed you?
"Probability" is just a five-dollar word for "luck." And I'm nothing but bad luck, baby.
Abner Jenkins aka the Beetle was an American AMT (Aircraft Maintenance Technician) with a licensed technical qualification for carrying out aircraft maintenance. A brilliant engineer and pilot but he became bored in his low-paying job. He created the Beetle Armor and decided to test his skills hoping to become a mercenary for hire. He failed numerous times but was later recruited in the Masters of Evil and finally went straight and joined the Thunderbolts as MACH-1.
Years from now, school children will be taught to remember this date! For it marks the birth of... the supremely powerful beetle!
I'm looking out for NUMBER ONE ... and no one else!
Oh, get real, will you? I've got all the weaponry of a fighter plane - and then some. You're a big ribbon.
An Australian baseball player who was suspended from playing after being caught accepting bribes, Fred Myers used his phenomenal pitching arm and weaponized boomerangs to become the supervillain Boomerang. Clashing with Spider-Man as a member of Jack O'Lantern's Sinister Syndicate, Boomerang temporarily became a "superhero" called Outback during the Civil War by supporting the Initiative, but returned to a life of crime, and being Peter Parker's annoying roommate!
I told them I was born in Australia, so they made me Boomerang. This is why the whole world hates you, by the way. An entire nation boiled down to what you can remember from that time you got high and watched Crocodile Dundee. Guess I should be glad I didn't end up some kinda kangaroo guy.
War is no place for a sweet soul like you, Pete.
You don't know what it's like to have the burden of a secret like this. A secret you want to share with those you care for the most, but you can't because it might put them in grave danger. You can't imagine what that's like, pal!
Following a deeply troubling childhood which culminated in him burning down an orphanage, Cletus became a serial killer and was eventually convicted for eleven consecutive life sentences. Incarcerated at Ryker's Island Prison, Cletus eventually became cellmates with Eddie Brock, who had been separated from the Venom symbiote. When the alien returned to rescue Eddie, it left behind its asexually-produced offspring. The newborn symbiote bonded to Cletus and amalgamated with his blood, transforming him into the monstrous Carnage.
Awww -- ain't that sweet? He misses me! Well, don't cry, daddy dearest -- 'cause your sonny boy -- is ALIVE AND WELL!
You knooooow who it is, sweetums!! It's your ever-lovin; totally unfriendly neighborhood-- CARNAGE!
I've shown you the worst things in the world, because that's what the world's made of. Everything is sick! Am I getting through to you? Everything is sick... and I LOVE IT!
Dmitri was the son of a Russian aristocrat and a servant he married when he fled the Communist Revolution. His mother found him embarrassing, and his father thought him weak. While his half-brother Sergei disliked him, he grudgingly acknowledged his existence, and thus in his youth, Dmitri would try to please Sergei however he could, often putting on little plays while doing all the roles himself. Years later, this would become his job, as he took on the name Chameleon. With a base mask hiding his real face, he developed his skills as an impersonator so well that even friends of his roles were fooled. Unfortunately for him, while his acting is great, his stage combat is much more lacking, and thus he has to fight the Spider-Man with his intellect rather than with his fists.
I am invisible because I am the same thing you look at every dreadful, dull day. I am the day before you realize everything has gone horribly, horribly wrong. I am the Chameleon.
The truth is none of us really knows anyone else. What we're capable of at any given moment. We cannot see beyond our own lives and desires. Other people well... They're just part of the background.
Well, this has been fun, but I got places to go and people to be.
Dr. Otto Octavius is a highly intelligent and prideful scientist, better known as the criminal mastermind Doctor Octopus. During an atomic research project, Octavius' body was fused to four mechanical, tentacle-like arms, also causing him severe brain damage that turned him into a criminal. He clashed with Spider-Man and went to become one of his greatest enemies.
Now, watch me trap a spider in a web of my own -- a web made of my new-found arms! Your strength is merely that of a spider, but mine is the energy of an atom, born of a nuclear accident!
The Sweet air of freedom is once again mine to breathe. It shall not be taken from me again!
So go ahead and run, Spider-Man--run away and hide. Sleep well in your secret lair. Because when you wake up tomorrow everything will have changed.
Max Dillon was a man originally defined by being held back from success. His mother smothered him, not wanting him to fail as his father did. While he held dreams of being an electrical engineer, he was convinced by his mother that he was not smart enough for the job, so he instead became an electrical lineman. One day, while working on an electric pole, a bolt of lightning struck it. Miraculously, based on how he was holding the wires, the two bolts canceled each other out, giving Max power over electricity, prompting him to take up a new job: as the costumed villain Electro.
Jewels! Money! No matter how much I take, I want more -- much more! And with my great power, nothing can stop me from getting it!
Surely you don't think you have a chance against the one who almost defeated Spider-Man himself!?
WAKE UP, NEW YORK! You want to show Wall Street who really has the power? What happens to Bennett's hired guns when they muscle in to shut you down? Send a message, New York! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
Norman Osborn was born to a respected and rich family of Osborns. When he was a child, his abusive father Amberson ruined the business and became bankrupt. As an adult, Norman worked to regain the family's power and money, vowing never to become the failure his father was. He married, but a year after his son Harry was born his wife Emily died, leaving Norman a widower and single father. He soon proved to be a neglectful parent, ignoring Harry in favor of his main goal: getting more power and money. Eventually, he gained full control of Oscorp Industries by framing his business partner Mendel Stromm. In Stromm's papers were notes on a serum he had discovered, which Norman tried to replicate for his use. He failed. The formula altered Norman's body. He became a superhuman: stronger, faster, more intelligent. Yet the serum also turned Osborn, who had never been entirely stable, into an insane psychopath. Norman took on a double life: by day, a respected businessman; by night, a grotesque super-villain mastermind. In his new persona as The Green Goblin, Osborn terrorized New York City with a bat-shaped jet glider, pumpkin bombs, razor bats, and insane laughter, thwarted from taking over the New York underworld only by repeated interference from Spider-Man. Soon, Osborn's interest in becoming the crime-lord of New York diminished; he had become obsessed with Spider-Man and his desire to get revenge upon him.
But now, I've made you look at your reflection, and you don't like what you see in the shadows. One of these days, one of us is going to inevitably kill the other. It's coming, Parker... Sooner than you think. And when it does, you're going to have to choose.
My name's Norman Osborn. This is my office you trashed and my people you smacked around. Would you like to have a drink and talk about it?
How could I allow this to happen? All this death and destruction. For what? For respect? For control? For fear? For revenge. For destruction. For the death of Spider-Man. For great power. HAHAHAHAHA!
The son of Russian immigrants, Joseph passed himself off as an Italian and joined the Maggia. Mortally wounded in a brawl, he was given a new life when a down-and-out surgeon named Jonas Harrow performed an experimental operation that replaced most of his skull with a steel alloy, giving his head a boxed look but making it hard enough to even block some of Spider-Man's punches. Amnesiac, Joseph took to calling himself the Hammerhead and established a criminal empire in the style of old 1920's gangsters, as the last thing he saw before passing out was a poster for an Al Capone film. Eventually gunned down by the Kingpin, Hammerhead was given a cybernetic adamantium skeleton by Mister Negative.
I get it. The old Spider-Man's kinda outta our reach now, but we're still steamin' from all the trouble he caused us -- and we're taking out our old Spider-Man frustration on the new one. It makes sense.
Hey, boss. I told 'em I'd only help if I got to watch. You remember when you left me high and dry? Well, payback's a you.
Who said I can't put a man in the cage? Before I ran my own gang I was a Maggia enforcer. Know how I got to the top? Head first!
In the 1980s, a man stumbled upon one of Norman Osborn's old Green Goblin labs (Norman was thought dead at the time). He decided to modify the arsenal, and take up a career as a new kind of Goblin: the Hobgoblin. The identity of this man was kept a secret for several years in the comics before it was revealed to be fashion designer Roderick Kingsley after a string of other Hobgoblins took his place or took the fall for him. Roderick returned from retirement, killing the fourth Hobgoblin, Jason Macendale, and sparked a growing rivalry with the also-returned Norman Osborn. Kingsley retired again but returned after he learned that his twin brother Daniel had been murdered by Phil Urich while looking for upgraded Goblin gear that Norman had been working on. Blackmailing Urich into giving him a cut in exchange for retaining the Hobgoblin identity and his life, Roderick revealed that he had been "licensing out" supervillain identities to criminals. When Urich defected to the Goblin Nation, Kingsley challenged the original Green Goblin to one final duel, sending his butler in his place as the Hobgoblin.
Well, Norman Osborn may have died, but his legacy-- His power-- Will live on! And this time, it shall be shaped by a man who knows how to use power!... ...The Green Goblin is no more! But in his place now stands-- the Hobgoblin!!
Hmm. Leave you in for five more minutes… …then on to phase two of the Winkler Process. Memories of combat training. Then we'll work on the voice. Have to get the voice right. I'm going to miss Claude. Fantastic manservant. He made a terrible Hobgoblin, but he made the best bouillabaisse. But some sacrifices have to be made. Just not self-sacrifices. Ah well. Time to lay low again. To plan. To scheme. To rise anew. Have your victory today, Osborn. You earned it. To you, my old foe. And to Goblins everywhere.
One thing's certain. His little Goblin Nation... Will always reside in a Hobgoblin World.
Miles Warren was once a professor at the university where Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy went. He fell in love with Gwen but tried to convince himself those feelings were paternal. This all changed when Gwen Stacy died at the hands of Norman Osborn. Realizing what his feelings were, he blamed Spider-Man for Gwen's death, and when he discovered that it was Peter Parker under the mask he decided to take revenge. Injecting himself with several experimental serums to make himself stronger and faster, he also began perfecting cloning technology to torment Peter. His plot also involved creating Spider-Man clones, which would eventually lead to The Clone Saga. He even cloned Gwen Stacy, but eventually, Spider-Man stopped him. Miles escaped, cloning himself numerous times, and resurfaced periodically to torment Peter.
I'm aware of your ability, Parker! You take to science like butter takes to bread! But not even you can keep your grades up when you're absent more than you're here!
It doesn't matter if she's her dimension's Spider-Person, she's still Gwen Stacy. She still belongs to me. She may not realize it yet, but I have always been her destiny.
Pay attention. Class is in session. Ever hear of "The Butterfly Effect"? How going back in time and stepping on one bug could wipe out the present? Just imagine, then, what I'm about to do to the future. Heard about how Earth's bumblebee population took a hit? How it might destroy our planet's entire ecosystem? That was me. I did it for a lark. Just to see if I could. This, however, this is work. And after months of bedbug outbreaks... (You can thank me later, Manhattan)... I believe I've finally cooked up the perfect batch. They're ready. C'mon, babies... Time to leave the nest. Or should I say nests? Thousand of locations around the city. Can you hear them? Scurrying? The pitter patter of their little feet? Nom. Nom. Nom. Good night, New York. Sleep tight. Have a bite. It's on me. My name is Miles Warren. And you... All of you... You are my science experiment.
Fisk began his life as a poor child in New York City, bullied by his classmates due to his obesity. Fisk began training himself in physical combat, using his newfound strength to intimidate the bullies into joining his gang. He was eventually discovered by crime lord Don Rigoletto. Fisk became Don Rigoletto's bodyguard and right-hand man. Eventually, Fisk killed Don Rigoletto and took control of his criminal empire, immediately becoming one of the most powerful figures in New York's underworld. Kingpin enjoyed a long tenure in his new position, but he had made enemies such as the Maggia crime syndicate and the terrorist group HYDRA. The two groups teamed together to oppose Fisk, causing him to flee to Japan. There, he started a spice business to regain his wealth. After earning enough money, Fisk returned to New York and started gang wars, in an attempt to bring down the Maggia. With the criminal world in chaos, Fisk was able to step in and take back control.
The underworld will now be run like a business... and the chairman of the board will be... the Kingpin!
Killing a journalist is a high-profile high-risk endeavor. I try to avoid it when possible.
... The Kingpin has rules -- Rules which you would do well to memorize. Among these rules is one stipulating that we do not touch another man's wife for any reason --- ever.
Sergei Kravinoff was the son of a Russian aristocrat who fled after the communists came to power. When his father remarried, he accused him of dishonoring his mother's name and tried to make life difficult for his half-brother Dimitri. Deciding to leave home, Kraven took up being a big game hunter and was quite good at it, especially considering he doesn't like to use ranged attacks, preferring to take down animals as large as rhinoceroses with his bare hands. One reporter, not knowing how to spell his name, shortened his last name Kravinoff simply to Kraven, and so began his legend as Kraven the Hunter. During one such hunt, he met Calypso, a jungle priestess who gave him special elixirs which gave him the speed and strength of the greatest jungle beasts. Bored by regular animals, Sergei got a surprise invite from his brother to deal with a new prey: Spider-Man.
I can endure the frustration no longer! I must battle and defeat my greatest enemy... or else, everything that has gone before is but a hollow mockery!
Because, in my own way, Spider-Man, I am a man of honor -- And you are a foe worthy of respect.
I have found dignity, not in the cities, but in the jungle. I have found honor, not in the civilized, but in the primal. I have found morality, I have found meaning -- in the hunt.
Curt Connors was an army surgeon who dedicatedly helped soldiers in war, but who lost his arm to an explosion. Returning after the war, he began experimenting with reptiles, trying to discover the secret to how they managed to regrow their limbs. After years of research, he believed that he had isolated the chemical compound that gave them this ability, and after successfully doing animal testing, tried the formula on himself. While it did indeed regrow his missing arm, there was an unfortunate side-effect. The formula also turned him into a giant lizard with super strength, speed, and even some wall-crawling abilities. It also gave him a new imperative to cleanse the world of mammals so reptiles would rule the Earth again. Thankfully, Peter Parker managed to synthesize an antidote to the serum that allowed Connors to become human again, but it proved only temporary, as Connors continued to struggle with his lizard side which would occasionally come out under stress or certain circumstances.
I understand. If there's one thing I'm familiar with... it's monsters.
I work in darkness. The Lizard wants out. It's time I stopped ignoring him.
[As Lizard, Make hissing and growling lizard sounds]
Quentin Beck was a master special effects man who loved films and making them. However, he always wanted to be in the spotlight and hated being stuck behind the scenes. His acting career never went anywhere, so he decided to take on a new job: supervillainy. As an effects wizard, he decided to frame Spider-Man for a robbery, then in a new costume, complete with a one-way mirror Fishbowl Helmet, would stop Spider-Man to earn the fame he thought he deserved. Exposed and tricked in the attempt, Quentin swore revenge as Mysterio and became a serious recurring threat to the wall-crawler.
So soon, Spider-Man? I didn't think you'd be in such a rush–- to face your final Waterloo! Or do you have to rush because you rent that corny costume by the hour?
Regardless of the size of the audience... Always make an entrance boy...Always Make An Entrance!
But you can keep calling me Mysterio. I like that. I would have never come up with that name myself, but it's out there now... and I like it. Mysterio.
An immigrant to the United States from Russia, Aleksei was approached by some mobsters to earn money by participating in an experimental treatment. The treatment helped give him a new suit that imitated the toughness of a rhino's hide and increased his strength past that of Spider-Man's. Initially directed to kidnap J. Jonah Jameson's son, he was stopped by Spider-Man and became a recurring threat from then on.
Yer just lucky... that truck blew up! Otherwise... I'd have whipped you... easy!
Lead me to the Hulk... now! The Rhino'll make mincemeat out of 'im!!
I'm Rhino. I knock things down. That's what I do. That's who I am.
William Baker became a crook in his youth but didn't want his mother to know about it, so went by the alias Flint Marko while doing jobs. One day on the run from his latest heist, he briefly stopped at an empty beach to hide. Unfortunately, the beach was empty because the military was testing a nuclear bomb there. Caught in the explosion, Baker had his body molecules bound with the sand around him, turning him into a literal sandman. Since then, the grainy villain clashed with Spider-Man many times, though, in more recent years, he's gotten away from the supervillain gig, and taken on more heroic stances.
"The Death of Spider-Man." It would be my masterpiece. It would be glorious...and best of all... ...it would last forever.
Think I'll kill a third of everyone on Earth! Just an idea, popped into my head!
When I saw those bad guys gone good on TV, part of me thought they were crazy. But I gotta admit, doing the right thing like this... It feels pretty damn good. Rico's a good egg. The other guys? Can't say I'm sorry to see 'em locked up. Rico's got a family to get back to. A life. I owed him that... another chance.
Mac Gargan was a two-bit private eye who was hired by J. Jonah Jameson to find out Peter's connection to Spider-Man. When Gargan was unable to get results, Jameson financed an experimental treatment to make him strong enough to beat the Wall-Crawler. Experimented with radiation and genetic transfusions, Gargan donned a suit based on the spider's natural enemy: The Scorpion. With his robotic stinger-tipped tail and greater strength, the Scorpion was always difficult to deal with, but Mac Gargan lacked smarts. The procedure had also driven him insane, and while he continually upgraded his suit and tail he couldn't rise above B or C list villainy for the gallery. Gargan was approached by the Venom Symbiote, which offered him a chance to become an A-list villain in exchange for killing Spider-Man.
This is Spider-Man's last stand, right? I wouldn't have missed that for the world.
You don't have to ask, Smythe. Killing the Spider's always been my idea of fun. But after what he did to me--to us--we won't leave enough of him to bury.
No, Eddie paralyzed me. Took my legs. He ain't taking my name. From now on... you can call me Scorpion!
Born in Harlem, Lonnie Lincoln was bullied for his albinism, and in-turn bullied Joe "Robbie" Robertson into becoming his friend. After high school, Lonnie took to crime, becoming a thug called Tombstone. As Lonnie worked his way up the criminal underworld, Robbie took a job at the Daily Bugle. When Tombstone murdered a New York mob boss, Robbie was terrified at the idea of confronting him, but after twenty years found the courage to testify. When Robbie confronted him, Tombstone snapped Robbie's spine, an act that brought him into conflict with Spider-Man. Breaking out of jail and abducting Robbie, Tombstone acquired superhuman abilities after being exposed to an experimental chemical, Diox-3, at an Oscorp plant during a fight with Spider-Man. Tombstone has since worked for the Kingpin and Hammerhead, has been a member of the Norman Osborn's Sinister Twelve, and a powerful crime boss in his own right based in Brooklyn, where he's caused Spider-Man some grief.
'Cold as ice, hard as marble'... I like that, Web-Spinner. Thanks. All my life I felt like a freak. What else would you call an albino? --A black man trapped in a white man's skin? People looked at me, they saw a monster. But I was just a man. Now I am a monster, and I love it. Yeah: 'Cold as ice, hard as marble'... What else would you call a tombstone?
Send the word... time to remind fools what happens when you mess with Lonnie Lincoln.
Mindless super-powered twerps who do whatever you say and confuse the Five-0 because they're kids. What's not to like?
Eddie Brock is the former-villain-turned-hero Venom. Starting his career as a failed reporter unwittingly due to the actions of Spider-Man, he would go to Our Lady of Saints Church to ask God for forgiveness before attempting suicide. However, a symbiote that was earlier discarded there by Spider-Man sensed his anger and merged with him, becoming one of the deadliest foes of Spider-Man. By his admission, Eddie was never a particularly functional or mentally adjusted man, though he frequently made efforts to better himself. Obsessed with and desperate for success, as a child and into his adulthood he stole and lied to get the acknowledgment he desperately craved and further his career. Despite excelling academically and becoming a successful journalist, Eddie was never able to impress his father. Eddie possesses a great deal of intense rage, owing to the various traumatic and humiliating experiences he has endured throughout his life. After the Sin-Eater incident and bonding with the symbiote, Eddie focused this rage on Spider-Man and was initially obsessed with revenge against him at all costs.

All Adrian Toomes wanted was to get rich from his inventions. However, his business partner swindled him out of the fortune that would've been his. One thing his partner didn't take from him was his ultimate invention: an electromagnetic harness that allows the user to fly. Finishing the harness, Toomes sought revenge on his ex-partner as The Vulture, but Spider-Man stopped him, leading Toomes to swear vengeance on the hero instead.
I fought Daredevil. I was in the Sinister Six. I'm faster, stronger, and smarter than a hundred men my age. No flunky with a pistol gets the drop on me.
Adrian Toomes was a pathetic employee of yours, Modell. Fired with insufficient cause. I am the Vulture.
How do you think your buddy Stark paid for that tower? Or any of his little toys? Those people, Pete, those people up there- The rich and the powerful - they do whatever they want! Guys like us? Like you and me? They don't care about us. We build their roads and fight all their wars and everything, but they don't care about us. We have to pick up after 'em, we have to eat their table-scraps... that's how it is.
