That’s right! We have multiple projects coming up, and one of them is IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog! We all know and love Sonic, and we think IDW does an amazing job making new adventures for Sonic and his team, introducing new characters, and all the while keeping the personalities of the characters that we all know and love. But to bring these characters to life, we need a great cast with a great attitude!
Vocal Notes to Consider
Sonic and his team are some of the most recognizable characters in the world today. We are not looking for exact impersonations of the characters, but we are looking for similar tones in the voices. We want you to sound like the character, but put your own spin-dash on it.
Please only do two to three take per line.

Amy is Sonic’s girlfriend… or at least that’s what she says. While she has a love for Sonic, she is also smart and charismatic in her own right. She is part of the Resistance and doesn’t mind having to go to battle with her hammer from time to time.
Notes: We know Amy as the one who falls head over heels for Sonic, but there is a lot more to her than that. She is confident, she leads well, and she doesn’t mind getting in the action. Line 2 isn’t being cute, it’s more of an angry flustered. Sonic ticks her off just as much as he makes her swoon.
((Happy, proclaiming)) It’s just who you are – and it’s all the reasons I love you. I can’t change you. I don’t want to change you.
((Flustered)) I mean, I’m always happy to see you, and would follow you anywhere if you’d only let me but – ooh! You get me so flustered!
((Commanding)) Pair up! Go door-to-door and bring back no more than 10 at a time! Keep low and check your corners!
Knuckles is a rough and tough companion of Sonic, and the commander of the Resistance. He is the sole guardian of the Master Emerald. He thinks with his fists before he thinks with his brain, but that doesn’t me he isn’t smart. Highly competitive, and will do anything to stop Dr. Eggman
Notes: Knuckles is a hot head, stubborn, ready to pound anything in, but he does care for others and wants to protect the people around him. He’s not dumb either, he’s commander for a reason.
((Fuming)) I’m gonna break them in half!
((Freaking out)) Neo Metal Sonic has taken over my island! He’s turned it into a flying fortress! And built that… that thing over the master emerald!
((Determined)) No. My island needs me. I have no time for games.
Tangle, an original character to the IDW comic series, is a lemur with a very stretchy and powerful tail that she uses to destroy enemies and fling people from one place to another. She is a very charismatic and exciting creature, who doesn’t mind having a bit of fun in the battlefield.
Notes: Tangle is young, happy, proud, and excitable. She is a tough fighter, but she is extremely friendly and a bit hyperactive. She’s not a ditz, but sometimes does get too excited. Very energetic.
((Celebrating, but tail is also burnt)) Woo! And ow. Woo and ow!
((Introducing herself, middle of battle)) Oh, sweet! Always wanted to meet you. Tangle the Lemur.
((Excited)) I mean, sure, I miss home. But I’m a flying tropical paradise! I fought a robot dragon! And survived! The past few days have been so crazy and cool! I don’t think I can go back to my old life!
A new character to the IDW franchise, Dr. Starline is a fan of Dr. Eggman’s work, and has many evil plans in mind to take down Sonic with his colleague. We do not know much about him, but if he is aligned with Dr. Eggman, he can’t be good.
Notes: Dr. Starline is actually a genius, but mostly, he is a fan of Eggman and his work. While he works with Eggman as a sort of colleague, he still is working FOR him.
((Professorial)) Gentlemen! … and I use that term loosely… I will restore Eggman’s personality, you will get your weaponry and your revenge. Perhaps he just needs some kind of emotional or mental trigger to jump-start his old self?
((Proud)) O-of course, sir! It will be my honor! I know exactly how to lure him into an ambush!
((Determined)) Please let me take the next shot at Sonic. I know exactly how to strike at him.
Rogue is a companion of Shadow and a spy for Team Dark. She is very manipulative and is the one who gets information for the group. She too wants to stop Dr. Eggman, but on her own agenda.
Notes: While Rogue usually has a seductive tone to her voice, by no means is she using that voice to seduce people, but more to manipulate. She is extremely smart, and knows how to get her way.
((Blunt)) Talk fast, big blue. We definitely heard him say he was rebuilding Eggman Land. And you know how stubborn Shadow can be.
((Explaining, manipulative)) So isn’t it convenient you got that anonymous tip when you did? You had plenty of time to find your target, verify him, and bring in Sonic. By the time I “helped” Shadow find this village, your investigation was complete and you had a handy, heroic countermeasure by your side.
((Mocking)) Oooooh – threatening!
Part of a new villainous duo with his brother Rough, Tumble is a cruel skunk that always will try to get his way. Both him and his brother think with their fists, not with their minds. A lot of pride, and doesn’t mind getting violent.
Vocal Notes: While Rough and Tumble aren’t the smartest in the bunch, they are by no means dumb. They know how to fight and don’t mind playing dirty. He is the bigger of the two brothers.
((Laughing at a weak person who spilled their drinks)) Yeah! Now get us another around before we beat some sense into ya!
((Choreographed introduction with his brother)) You lookin’ to scrap? Then get ready to crumble! Brace yourselves for – ROUGH AND TUMBLE!
((Threatening)) Their little cells won’t hold us for long! We’ll be out – and then we’re coming for you!
Espio is a part of the Chaotix Detective Agency with Charmy and Vector. He is quick, smart, and thinks carefully before he acts. He is the spy/ninja of the group, he’s usually the one who goes to get the information they need to complete a case.
Notes: Espio is a quiet, intelligent creature. He is very good with his work, and is very professional about it. He’s not one to crack up laughing, a very serious person.
((Explaining)) We received an anonymous tip that led us to the village I’m taking you to now. So, technically, we didn’t find him…
((Blunt)) The crimes have been committed and justice must be served. Eggman must be punished.
((Silently proud of what he has done)) Hmph. Flawless technique
An advanced version of Metal Sonic, Neo Metal Sonic still is a villainous robot who is wanting to take down his counterpart Sonic. He is a force to be reckoned with, very threatening, and is one of the strongest villains Sonic and his friends face. A very dangerous threat that is not to be trifled with. He is willing to go to great lengths to continue his master’s legacy and prove that he is the one, true Sonic.
Notes: Villain through and through. He is also robotic. When sending in lines, we need to hear your voice normally, and not edited. However, if you want to also add your edited takes as well to make you sound like a robot, that is fine, but we NEED to hear just your voice in these takes.
((Retelling)) Lord Eggman repaired me. Removed the rebelliousness from my coding. But you know this – we’ve clashed since then. He decided to upgrade me to this form once again. I was to be his greatest weapon in the final battle.
((Threatening)) I have your bio-data. I have my original plan. I will sift through the world’s ashes to find him if I have to… Tell me, or fall.
((Commanding)) Helmsbot – All guns on the tornado! Blow them out of the sky!
The youngest member of the Chaotix Detective Agency, this hyperactive kid looks at everything with a positive attitude. He is a bit immature, but he does everything in his power to help his team. He is also deceptively strong for a young kid.
Notes: He’s a kid, helping out with a detective agency, and is having the time of his life. He does have moments of immaturity, but all he wants to do is help others, and is willing to do anything to help them.
((Excited)) Oh yeah! This place is great! There’s lots of kids my age! And tons of mountain flowers! And they have the best honey tarts ever!
((Nervous)) That sounds spooky! Are they coming for us?
((In a lot of trouble)) Vector! Espio! HELP!
Created by Dr. Eggman, Orbot is one of Eggman’s aides, and helps him with going after Sonic and his team. While he is actually pretty positive about things, he also tends to be a bit lazy.
Notes: Orbot has a bit of sarcasm to his voice. He works for Eggman, but doesn’t always like being treated badly. He doesn’t mind saying something under his breath about others.
((Semi sarcastic)) Perhaps you’d like to review a list of Eldritch creatures you’d like to resurrect and then lose control over?
((Disappointed)) Ah, well, it was nice while it lasted.
Created by Dr. Eggman, Cubot is one of Eggman’s aides, and helps him with getting Sonic and his team. He is not the brightest and tends to get frightened very easily in the face of danger.
Notes: Cubot isn’t the brightest tool in the shed. He just looks at things more positively than Cubot, and just wants Eggman to be happy.
((Excited)) Ooh! Ooh! I know! How ‘bout you threaten us, boss? Nothing cheered you up like saying you’d dismantle us!
((Confused)) I’m confused. Is that a threat? It didn’t sound menacing this time.
