So Something | Spoken Word Poetry Project

Project Overview

Hello!

My name is Megan, and I'm a voice actor and writer! Combining my love for voice acting and writing, I am creating this project to showcase my poetry. I'm looking for voice actors to help bring my projects to life; I think my work would get too boring if I'm the only one telling these stories. If you want to help me make videos like the one above, I encourage you to audition!

"So Something" is a collection of poems that I've been working on for a long time. These poems are autobiographical stories, and I'm looking for people who can accurately portray the emotions and feelings of each story. There may or may not be accompanying animation for certain poems, but you must be able to tell a story using only your words!

You might notice that there's only one role to audition for. I will be casting more than one person, so it is very important that you list your contact information in your audition so that I can contact you if I decide to cast you!

Guidelines for Auditioning:

1. You must be 18 or older to audition. But don't worry, there will be nothing NSFW.

2. You must have a decent microphone.

3. Please, no background noise if possible.

4. The main thing I'm looking for is emotion. Can you tell a story using only your voice? Can you accurately portray the emotion and inflection needed?

5. You must have Venmo or PayPal for payment.

6. IMPORTANT: Please list your email or discord with your audition so that I can contact you if I decide to cast you! I can also contact you via CCC, so let me know if that's your preferred method of contact.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! You can contact me here on CCC or at megantaylorva (at) gmail (dot) com

Have fun & good luck! :)

Hi everyone! First, a big thank you to everyone who auditioned for my project! I'm inspired and honored by the amount of talent I've seen on this casting call. You are all an amazing group of voice actors, and I honestly wish I could cast every single one of you. Unfortunately, I had to narrow it down it down to a select few. The voice actors who have been cast have been sent a message via their preferred method of contact. If you have not received a message, then I have not cast you. If you have not been cast, I encourage you not to take this decision personally. Like I mentioned before, I saw promise and talent in every single audition. There were over 160 amazing auditions on this project, and I just couldn't cast every single person. I hope you continue to move forward with your voice acting journey; after all, every "no" is one step closer to your next "yes!" Again, thank you so much for auditioning on my little project. It was an honor to hear so many different interpretations of my poetry. If I ever hold another casting call, I will definitely keep you all in mind. And, congratulations to everyone who has been cast! Thank you, Megan Taylor

Please give me your best interpretation of these poem verses. I'm looking for emotion, fluency, timing, and articulation. I'm NOT looking for any particular accent or vocal pitch.

  • I don't love you. Say it again.

    I DON'T LOVE YOU.

I love the idea of you.

One that I created, a version of you

    That doesn't exist.

    That will never exist.

  • Why would you give kindness, and then

    Take it away?

What do you want? Nothing? Fine.

I don't need your kindness anyway.

I'm lying, but you'll never know.

    Or, maybe you do.

  • I have to accept what I cannot change

I can't wait all day for a train that

Will never arrive, whatever that train

    May carry.

I have to be okay with what we are.

    What we were.

Two souls, who for a brief moment

Shared a feeling of infinite starlight

But will never feel it again.
