Skyrim Mod: Riften Northshore District
Project Overview
EDIT: Auditions came flying in faster than I expected so thank you to everyone for taking an interest :D At this point I'll probably start trying to lock in some roles right after Christmas, and hopefully the bulk of the audio work can be done in January.
Hello! I'm making a small expansion to Riften along the northern shore of the lake. This is intended to be a counterpart mod to my first project, which did the same thing south of Riften (found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/47074?BH=4&tab=description).
The majority of the voice-work for this mod revolves around an expedition of cartographers who have arrived to explore the province of Skyrim. They discover the territory is more dangerous than they were prepared for and turn to the player to do the exploring for them. This gives the player a group of miniquests to find some rarely explored locations from the vanilla game.
I'm putting this project up in mid-december, but I'm expecting to push back most of the actual work on it until after the new year. If you see this and are interested, but can't put in an audition until January, that's no problem.
A few other points:
- Feel free to audition for multiple roles if you're willing to voice all of them.
- Most of the work for this mod is done on the weekend and that will likely be true for the audio work too, but I will check in on auditions a couple times during the week.
- A couple more roles may be added. Let me know if you want to be considered for anything that may come up beyond what is listed here
- If you feel you need more specifics on how a role should sound, you can message me and I'll do my best to explain what I had in mind.
Thanks for reading! I love that this game still has the kind of community where projects like this are possible!

Borald is a chipper, friendly nord innkeeper whose inn has become an impromptu guild-hall for a group of cartographers. He offers food and drink, and also sells the player a home in the district. His one sore point is his rivalry with the Bee and Barb inn.
Borald should have an appropriate accent, but that could be the more strictly nordic one, or lean Irish as some of the Nords in-game do. As long as it fits to what's in the vanilla game.
(When asked what the cartographers do)
From what I've seen they mostly drink and get excited pointing at old maps. Not that I'm complaining! Their gold is as good as anyone's.
(When asked if he sells anything special)
I have fish, and I have mead. If you want something special go up to the Bee and Barb like most people do. Oh! Sorry. I guess hearing people go on about Talen-Jei's drinks has got under my skin.
(Reaction to the player using shouts)
By Ysmir! What was that?
Ovidius is an Imperial from the capital province of Cyrodiil who is leading an expedition of cartographers to Skyrim. They had intended to map some little know sites of the province but found Skyrim to be more dangerous than expected and haven't left Riften.
Ovidius speaks in a formal but friendly way. He is well educated, but used to begging for money and help from others, whether it be a wealthy patron or a sellsword.
Ovidius Siro, at your service. I’m here leading an expedition of the Cyrodiil Cartographers Guild.
(Explaining why the cartographers haven't gone anywhere)
We were under the impression that this civil war was just a handful of rebels hiding in Windhelm. But when we got here? It’s open war!
(fleeing from combat)
Divines please! I don't want to die here!
Dajeh is a member of Ovidius' cartography expedition. He is a redguard, born in Hammerfell but educated in the Imperial City. Though not a great warrior as most people assume of redguards, he still plays to type in a way by making military sites his area of expertise.
Dajeh shares many qualities of the archetypical academic. He is reserved until asked about his area of interest, then he will talk excitedly at length. He also tries to be the "tactical" member of the group, despite a lack of actual combat experience.
(When asked about why the cartographers haven't made progress)
I think Ovidius had planned to hire help when we got here, but we aren't exactly welcome visitors. Most of the locals probably see us as Imperial spies.
(When asked about his area of study)
Skyrim has been the site of wars and conquests since the Atmorans first arrived on Tamriel. Some of these old fortifications have been around for thousands of years!
(Catching the player sneaking)
You're creeping around like an assassin. Makes me nervous.
Lanelte is an Altmer who was born and raised in Cyrodiil. She is a cartographer with Ovidius' expedition, and specializes in mapping ancient Dwemer sites.
Lanelte comes off as terse and uptight in comparison to the other members of her group. In truth, she is homesick and nervous about being in Skyrim. She becomes friendly towards the player when they offer help.
(Talking about the sites she is trying to map)
Some of the Dwemer sites are easy to find. You can see Avanchnzel from the road west of the city. Others have only vague records.
(When told the player is going to help the cartographers.)
Divines be praised! Ovidius is so worried about showing results, I thought he would insist we purchase weapons and strike out on our own.
(If she catches the player pickpocketing her)
Thievery! Damn this city!
Casthia is a quiet, private Bosmer living on the edge of Riften. She makes her living as a butcher and bone-carver.
She was born in Valenwood, in a family that followed a strict interpretation of the Bosmer religion. She is deeply uncomfortable with living in Skyrim, where using wood and plants as a resource is normal. She is also hiding a secret from the people of Riften that would surely ostracize her. She has cannibalized her recently deceased brother's corpse, in keeping with Bosmer traditions.
(Explaining her work)
I carve the farmers' livestock for them. I usually take the bones as partial payment. In Valenwood, we learned to make just about everything from the bounty of animals.
(Talking about her home in Valenwood)
If my clan could see me now, living in a wooden home, wearing clothing made from plant fibers... The rules of the Green Pact only strictly apply to Valenwood, but I'm not sure I'll ever truly be comfortable here.
(When admitting to having eaten her brother's corpse)
I couldn't... I couldn't just let him rot in the ground. Eaten by worms and insects so far from home. I did what I had to, so my brother might join Y'ffre.
