A Fan Fiction for Final Fantasy 15. Written by Quantum Leek(Fanfiction.net; AO3). *Spoiler heavy for FF15 Summary: 

This is the story of a family torn asunder by the death of a father, and everything that came before. Featuring dad!Regis and a twin sister for Noctis.

This fic is two stories twisted together: one follows the game's timeline and tells the story of a prince and princess coming to terms with death and destiny, while the other is the story of their lives before and everything that leads up to the beginning of the game.

The protagonist; Princess of Lucis. On the surface, Reina is everything a princess ought to be: refined, educated, and an excellent leader. It is a commonly held belief in the kingdom that she should have been made heir to the throne. At her heart, she loves her family and her kingdom and, like any good sister, enjoys tormenting her twin brother. Underneath, the picture is less cheerful: she has lived her life in her brother’s shadow, believing (and, indeed, seeing) that their father loves him more; she has spent her childhood and adolescence desperately striving to prove herself to her father and find her place in the world, which has led her to give up everything else in her life in pursuit of his attention and love. At the time of this story, she has all but decided that her whole purpose in life is to take care of her king and father as his health fades.

The Crown Prince of Lucis / The Chosen King. Twin brother of Reina. To those unfamiliar with him, Noctis may appear lazy and disinterested but his friends and family recognize it as a facade. He had learned not to care—or so he tells himself—because it’s much more difficult to be disappointed when your father breaks a promise if you never cared in the first place. In truth, he is terrified of the responsibility that has been placed on his head and the expectations that come along with it. He doubts his abilities to do what the prophecy claims he should, and his worst fear is losing those he loves—whether to death or abandonment—so he strives to do his absolute best, in spite of his doubts.

Though he has known for his whole adult life that he would be forced to make many of the same sacrifices that his own father made, he hates himself for every missed dinner, every broken promise, and every milestone he never witnessed. He has always wished he could do better for them and, in spite of what his children may sometimes fear or wonder, he loves both of them more than anything. As a king, he is wise and stern, but merciful. He is devoted wholly to his duty to the kingdom, and has been using his magic to protect the Crown City for his entire reign—the magic takes its toll, however, and he has aged more rapidly than his friends; in recent years, his health has been failing and it is widely whispered that he will not be able to maintain the Wall for much longer.

Much like Noct and Gladio, Clarus grew up alongside his king and has ever been devoted to Regis. Though their lives no longer take them onto the front lines of the war or into explicit danger, he has never let his guard relax. Indeed, the fact that Regis’ constant use of magic to uphold the Wall weakens him steadily has only made Clarus more vigilant. He loves his king as much as his children (some might say more), and is fiercely protective in most every aspect of their lives.

Noctis’ friend and adviser. Ignis has grown up alongside Noctis and Reina, training to be Noctis’ future Royal Adviser from the age of six. While Reina often remained aloof, he became something of a cross between a brother and a mother for Noctis; he is the one who scolds Noct for not eating his vegetables and tries to push him to take a more active part in the affairs of the kingdom. In spite of this, he is fully devoted to Noctis and would do anything to protect him. He is highly intelligent and well-educated, knowledgeable in countless subjects from government to combat and strategy. At heart, Ignis is a perfectionist; though his calm, quiet exterior may not suggest it, he has trouble coping when situations don’t go as planned. He prefers to be in control—not at the forefront, but behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.

    to seek healing for a grievous injury. He made the long journey together with his father, King Regis.
