Project Overview

"Shadows Of The West" is an Alternate History/Mystery game that takes place in an alternate timeline where the Confederacy won the American Civil War. The game primarily takes place in a Texas town called "Yellowbelly" where the local sheriff was murdered, and a British Detective(The Player) must find the killer. What seems like a mystery of "Who Done It" soon turns into a spiraling story of corruption that will not only turn the town on its head; but soon the entire Confederacy.

The game is still in very early stages as characters, locations and major story events are still being thought out and created. However, we wish to go ahead and begin the early process of finding the actors who will give life to our characters. This page will be updated whenever new characters are ready, and we hope you follow the project for a chance to voice said characters. Other than the protagonist, actors will be paid $10 per 100 words for major characters and $5 per 100 words for minor characters. The Protagonist will be paid $20 per 100 words.

This project is expected to be a 2-3 year endeavor, if not more, so we preach patience to actors willing to work with us. Updates may be slow at times, and sometimes it may be a bit between each script, so we hope this is not a problem for anyone that is interested.

An advanced warning must be given, however. Due to the time and place of this game, characters will often say racist, bigoted, sexist, and other crude/disturbing things. This also extends to cursing and occasional sexual themes, so we ask that you'll alright with this before auditioning.

    I want this to start this off by saying thank you to everyone who has auditioned so far! I haven't been able to listen to auditions recently due to behind the scenes matters, but I promise that I will listen to every audition and make a fair judgment before the deadline. Speaking of, I have a few important things to discuss. 1. The first round of characters deadline is August 15th, barring any delays. 2.At 4:00AM on July 17th, two new characters will be added to the casting call. However, the deadline for said characters won't be until September. 3. Some of the Artwork is starting to get drafted and/or finished, so pictures will be updated as progress continues. 4. The music Composer slot has been filled, a new update will be published when the song is done and we can begin looking for a singer. I hope everyone has a good day and again, thank you all for auditioning!

The Protagonist of the story(Name to be decided on later.) He is a British Private Detective who has come to the town of “YellowBelly” to solve the murder of the town's Sheriff. He is charismatic and calculative, being able to hold his personal thoughts inside and not let them out into the open.(British Accent)

  • To be honest, I never wanted to come to this wasteland. The only reason I even entertained the idea was because of the mysterious circumstances surrounding the sheriff's death.(Monologuing)

Jessie Young is the Bar Keeper of the local saloon and the niece of the now deceased sheriff. She is a kind-hearted young woman who looks out for the black slaves and local Indians, though some say it’s simply a mask she wears to hide her true self.(Southern Accent)

I need someone who can create a theme song for the game, with the use of instruments and written lyrics(Singer to be cast later) Theme song should range between 2-3 minutes and have a very old western feel. The song should be about corruption and mystery, highlighting the fact that the Confederacy is in political turmoil.

Amanda is a slave who once lived on the island of Madagascar. She is a strong-willed woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind, though her master finds it amusing that someone like her has such thoughts. She isn't mean spirited towards anyone but also isn't exactly friendly. However, should you get to know her, she does eventually open up. Though the name given to her when she was sold as a slave is Amanda, her real name is Afak and she personally hates the name, Amanda.

Jeff Hayes is the grandson of the Confederacy’s first president Jefferson Davis, and the mayor of Yellowbelly. A member of the Imperial Party, he was long seen as the obvious choice for the party’s nominee for president. However a recent report from the towns now-deceased sheriff alleged that the mayor had an affair with his personal maid(Who is full-blooded Indian) and fathered her child. Though the report was never finished due to the Sheriff's murder, political opponents have nonetheless used this to discredit his upcoming presidential campaign.
