Ranma 1/2 The Abridged Series: PRODUCTION CALL

Ranma 1/2 The Abridged Series: PRODUCTION CALL

Project Overview

Hello! This is my first big fandub project! Welcome to the Ranma 1/2 The Abridged Series!

PREMISE:

Ranma 1/2 follows the story of Ranma Saotome, a young guy who falls into a cursed spring! This causes him to turn into a girl any time he is splashed with cold water and turned back to a boy with hot water. Ranma is expected to be engaged with a daughter of the Tendo Dojo, a merger both his father and their father have wanted since Ranma's birth. Shenanigans ensue per episode, but we as an audience get to see the budding romance between Ranma and Akane along with many characters that have been cursed by other springs.

We will be dubbing over the old 1980s Ranma adaptation, with writing done by two writers, the voice cast, and I for the abridged portion! Think of Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged (LittleKuriboh) or Princess Tutu Abridged (TutuOn). I would like to do the entire series, if possible! That being said, those who are planning to audition for this will have to know this production is a very long term project due to how many episodes there are.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR:

  • 3 Video Editors

  • 2 Audio Engineers

  • 5 Writers

  • 1 Artist

FORMS OF CONTACT:

  • Our main form of contact shall be discord, so please have a discord listed in either a comment or the description of your audition. If you cannot provide that to me in your audition whatsoever, DM me here on CCC.

  • We will also be submitting things through google drive, so if you have a working google account then you shall be fine!

REQUIREMENTS & CASTING PROCESS:

  • Everyone can audition, any experience is welcome (even no experience, just as long as you provide an audition that I can review!)

  • Please submit something that I can work with that showcases your ability in that field, or a written case as to why you would be good for that position. Examples of what can be submitted are included in each description

  • Once submissions close, I will take a day or two to message people here on CCC to ask follow up questions, any additional footage, etc.

  • Once "callbacks" are completed (again, it may be a day or two), give me about 24 hours to finish final casting decisions here on CCC where you shall be expecting the results. I will NOT be DMing on discord who got the part/who didn't get the part.

  • Once chosen, you will be given 24 hours to respond to the discord link sent to you via your CCC DM.

THE MEETING PROCESS:

When we initially meet, I will be submitting the CASTING CALL right afterwards. Then, I will give a month to let that gather some auditions! While we wait, we will be meeting A few times a week to grow familiar as a team on our duties, our teammates, etc. and prepare for the VAs! Here is what to expect when we start working with the VAs:

  • Some of us will be coming to meetings every other week, others: all weeks (this just depends on the role you get). I will be making a master schedule for the production, so you will know when and who has to be at what meeting.

  • All of us are required to be at our specific meeting just so we can make sure to get all the information needed.

  • Wednesdays I have decided are "check-in" days. These days are just hours ANYONE can come in to the discord and collaborate, working with one another if they want. If anyone also needs to talk to me, that can be scheduled on those days as well! I would like to use "time slots" where we have people on select hours so everyone can get a chance to meet if needed, so that will be something that is on a first come, first serve basis and as needed. TLDR: Check-in days are optional, first come first serve, and as needed for collaboration.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I am so excited to be working on this project, as I have a lot of ideas! I also expect there to be delays and hiccups along the way, but please stay strong! I just hope everyone is just as excited for this and will be in it for the long run, because I would love to credit all of you for the work you do on each video and interact with everyone on a fun fan project. Please do not think of this as a job, as I would just love for everyone to be in it for the love of this anime and who want to see this succeed just other big anime parodies do! If you have ANY questions whatsoever on anything (if you want to know more about each role and the process), please let me know! I will be more than happy to be in contact!

NO AI WILL BE USED THROUGHOUT THIS PRODUCTION. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU PLAN ON USING AI AT ANY POINT.

Thank you for checking out this production casting call! Have fun!

Latest Updates

  • Deadline shortened.

    Hello!

I've decided to shorten the deadline for this project to end in December. The reason? I would like to get enough of the production side done so I can put the casting call out quicker as well. Plus, there's a generous break for a good amount of those who are still in school.

The most important part to me is that I am auditioning for a community theatre musical and if I get in, I'd need to shift my schedule for this production sooner than later, so I am shortening this deadline!

    Thanks for your interest! Bye!

  • Discord

    Hello, everyone!

Thanks to those who have submitted something so far. Please make sure that you give your discord handle at some point in your submission, or message me here on CCC with it! This is so when we finish callbacks, I can add those who I've selected onto the server. I appreciate it, thank you very much!

I will need a team of about 3 video editors who can help me with the following:

- VE1: Deleting audio from the episode of the week and submitting the full video (once VE3 submits it to you) to me once it is all finished.
- VE2: Editing down footage or making some portions longer to attribute to voice acting lines.
- VE3: Making sure the audio lines up with the footage.

Please be comfortable with every one of these options, as I will be randomly selecting a qualified person for those categories. Please be comfortable with this being a long production, working on a weekly schedule to get these videos out.
I would also like if we can all stick to using the MOV format so we do not lose audio quality or video quality per format, and so it is easier on all of us when editing!

YOUR SUBMISSION:
This can include all, some, or one portion of this list:

- An episode you worked on for another project (please tell me if it was a specific scene or the full episode you edited!) or a video in general that you worked on for another project (YT Short, Tiktok, etc.)
- A written portfolio of any work you have done in the past regarding video editing
- A link to a website that displays your work
- A written sort of "cover letter" telling me how you would be good for this position (if you are new to this but want to give it a shot and you think you will be good at it, this might be a good option! I am considering anyone!!)
- Anything else you think would work

If you have ANY QUESTIONS whatsoever on how this will work, please message me here on CCC! I appreciate it!

Typically I would be doing this as well, but considering I am also voicing one of the characters I would like to get at least two audio engineers who can review the audio submissions of the VAs

- AE1: Takes care of the female roles
- AE2: Takes care of the male roles

These roles will be cleaning up any sound quality that the VA might have, or requesting the VA to retake the line if there is any issues with their audio quality in that one clip.
I will be dealing with the direction of the lines, so please do not judge the quality of the performance- just the audio quality
Once you deem the audio quality to be good, I will review the audio, approve it, and then you can send finished products to VE3 (Video Editor 3) to edit into the video.

I would LOVE if we can stick with MP3 OR WAV files for our final audio (we can make the decision during a meeting), as it makes it easier for VE3 to work with it.

YOUR SUBMISSION:
This can include all, some, or one portion of this list:

- An episode you worked on for another project (please tell me if it was a specific scene or the full episode you edited!) or a video in general that you worked on for another project (YT Shorts, TikTok, etc.) where you worked on that audio quality.
- A portfolio of any work you have done in the past regarding audio work you may have done (maybe it was your own lines you cleaned up? Or a friend? Let me know!)
- A link to a website that displays your work
- A written sort of "cover letter" telling me how you would be good for this position (if you are new to this but want to give it a shot and you think you will be good at it, this might be a good option! I am considering anyone!!)
- PLEASE INCLUDE WHAT PROGRAM YOU USE (I typically use Audacity, as an example!)
- Anything else you think would work!

If you have ANY QUESTIONS whatsoever on how this will work, please message me here on CCC! I appreciate it!

I will need 1 artist to do the following:

- Make the logo for the Ranma 1/2 abridged series along with a banner and profile picture for the channel.
- Make the beginning, middle, and ending credit cards (these are in the video itself and will show up as a still frame with the logo in it along with other art).

I would prefer a JPG or JPEG picture for these!

I WILL NOT ACCEPT AI WORK.
