Quack Pack -- ARTISTS AND EDITOR NEEDED
Project Overview
Hello, everyone! My name's Jacob and I am an artist, animator, and screenwriter from New Jersey. I am looking for storyboard artists, background artists, and video editors for a feature-length animatic film called "Quack Pack", an adaptation of the original television series from the Disney Afternoon programming block that ran during the mid-to-late '90s. Before we can go any further in terms of the visual aesthetics, I would like to give you an overview of movie's plot and the history of how this project came to be.
PLOT SYNOPSIS:
"A criminal mastermind known collectively as the Claw has stolen a top-secret processor from the outskirts of Washington and schemes to insert it inside his latest weapon: a gun that will be capable of brainwashing innocent civilians, transforming them into his slaves. On light of the incident, a government agency known as the Federal Organization for World Loyalty, led by director Felina Feral, recruits cameraman Donald Duck and the rest of the Duck family to the organization, and along with top agent Calico "Callie" Briggs and former hockey player Mallory McMallard, they lead the fight against Claw and his Bandits in a struggle for the deciding fate of Duckburg."
PROJECT HISTORY:
I first came across the TV show while browsing through the Internet before eventually picking up a copy of the DVD from my local Walmart as a teenager. After checking out the series for myself as well as learning about its polarizing reception, I imagined a feature film adaptation that does carry over key elements and it's distinctive Disney Television Animation art style, but it also ditches the over-the-top radicalism and extreme tones of the original show, transforming it into a more darker, espionage-centric storyline with characters plucked from other Saturday morning cartoons, inspired by "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" to a certain extent.
I began writing the first draft of the script back in January of 2016 when I was sixteen years old, and over the course of ten years, I continued to write and rewrite many different versions, adding and removing scenes and plot points until I finally got around to finishing a version of the script that I'm actually satisfied with. The finalized draft was completed by December of 2025 with a grand total of 115 pages thanks largely to tweaking and removing various filler scenes, adding a few more characters, and a third act that was rewritten from the ground up. It's this final draft that I'm very proud of and despite years of constantly spotting typos and spelling errors because I've been writing super fast, I still look back at the numerous iterations of the script very fondly because I've been writing these drafts during my high school years. Hell, I still keep all of the scripts in my bedroom, reading at least one draft to pass the time.
Now for a while, I thought long and hard about drawing these storyboards myself because I wanted to capture that same Disney style while also giving it my own touch, but for the past couple of years, I realized that it'll be physically impossible to draw each individual frame. Plus, bouncing back and forth between this project and my first solo-made animated feature film would be a nightmare, especially when trying to hold a job at a big supermarket chain, so really, that's out of the question. The safest bet for me would be finding the right people who will bring this script to life. And that's where you guys come in.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when joining this project:
All skill levels are welcome. No surprise there.
When you're applying, please send in your portfolios through Google Drive so that I can look over each art piece before giving you feedback. Same rules apply when it comes to video editing.
Consistency and communication are a must. We need to make sure that the visual style for this project follows a consistent skill level in terms of character design and background art so that we can really hone down the very same style that was present in the Disney Afternoon shows.
"Quack Pack" will be an unpaid, long-term, fan-driven production as this is a project that will be made purely just for fun and will not be receiving any profit. After all, we're not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company in any way shape or form and we are not making any money off of it. We're just a group of people who have a shared love of Disney media and other animated cartoons that were made outside the House of Mouse.
Have as much fun as possible. Sure, this film will be taking a long time to get made, but the most important aspect of any production is that everyone in the crew has fun doing these storyboards without any sort of setbacks. If there are any setbacks, I will not point the blame on anyone else in the team and will take full responsibility and accountability for those actions.
The deadline for this casting call will be on October 30th, 2026. After everyone had submitted their portfolios, I will go over each one individually and see whether or not that person will be chosen to helm this big project. If that person is accepted, I will hand them a copy of the script so that it can be read all the way through before storyboarding can truly begin.
I am looking forward to seeing your talents and I wish each and every one of you the best of luck!
