Project: 'Sparrow' | Indie Game Casting Call; 2nd Round
Project Overview
This is Round Two of casting for "Project: Sparrow". If you would like more information regarding the project and casting information, please refer to the First Round listed in my profile.
Director's Note : Hello, and thank you for taking the time to audition for this casting call! Once again, this is the second round of auditions for Project: Sparrow. This round focuses on the major side characters for the project.
I am looking for a more grounded portrayal. While these characters and the world are inspired by anime, I am not too keen on the tropes and "quirks" related to the genre's general voice direction.
ADDITIONAL NOTE : Unlike the first round, some of the roles listed do not have "Points of Reference" attached to them below the character/vocal descriptions. For these roles, my hope for those auditioning, is that they can breathe their own life into the character without any guard rails defining how that character might sound in my head, as the director.
Put simply, I am giving the auditioner full creative control over how the character can sound, and selecting those that I believe are able to embody the character well.

The lead director of one of the most important scientific organizations in the world, Dr. Sonozaki is aloof, very no-nonsense, and blunt. A man ever-pressed for time, he avoids idle conversation because to him, it is a complete waste of it. Instead, he takes the route of tactlessness, giving anyone he comes in contact with the benefit and burden of never misunderstanding what comes out of his mouth.
Dr. Sonozaki's voice is low and gravelly. Think mid-to-late 30s. He speaks at a steady, almost monotonous rhythm while carrying a tone bordering on snide, with no care for anyone who gets lost in his erudite vocabulary.

"I am your superior, 'doctor', and you will address me as such. Don't get too comfortable."
"No. Now, get out of my office, please." | "Doctor, get the fuck out of my office."
"Interrupt me in the middle of my research again and I will personally see to it that you are strapped to the singularity for controlled variable testing."

Second only to Dr. Sonozaki, Haruhi is a bright-eyed, enthusiastic, and hard-working woman. Someone who is diligent and motivated, she tries her damnedest to do anything she sets her mind to, paying no mind to those who try to diminish her accomplishments.
Dr. Miyazaki's voice is bright and airy, with a slightly melodic intonation. Something to compare it to would be white wine or a viola. She is patient with her words and reserves her ire only for those she believes deserve it.

"You and I are on two entirely different levels. And I've worked too hard to get where I am just for you to get in my way."
"Sweetheart, I am not in the business of babysitting. Go have fun! Just try not to do anything illegal."
"Ryu, we are talking about children. *Children*. Is getting this research ALL you're concerned about, right now?"

Aoba Nanbu can be best described as withdrawn, distant, and quick-to-anger. He distrusts those around him, with good reason. A boy who has been taken advantage of by those he trusted, he has closed himself off from the rest of the world.
Aoba's voice is quiet, deep and pubescent. It's almost wisp-like. It comes off brittle, with a quick and rather taut enunciation. His tone guards a scared, haunted child, coming off mildly accusatory, with that same mix of anger and fear one would only see in a wounded animal. Never willing to say more than necessary.

"Keep away from me! I'll hurt you!"
"I'm not gonna be made into someone else's weapon. I'd rather die."
"The fuck is wrong with you people?! I said I don't know, now let me go!"

Yoko is a spritely, intelligent, and convivial young woman, whose life was upended by those who were supposed to protect her. The human equivalent of a summer breeze, she's refreshing to those around her. She takes things in stride and wears her heart on her sleeve, no matter how hard it gets.
Ms. Hanamura has a very plummy voice, bordering on posh. It is melodic, rather orotund, and quite captivating. She speaks very clearly and with a polite, but matter-of-fact tone, making a concerted effort to not come off as rude or stuck-up.

"You'll regret this! I'm sure my father is out looking for me right now!"
"Oh, hello there! It's lovely to meet you, my name is Yoko! Oh, we've met before? I'm so sorry!"
"I think I'll be alright. I'm-- I just need a moment.. It's a lot to take in after.. well, you know."

To know Hiyori is to know a young woman full of life. Someone who is always getting things done, she's a go-getter with a penchant for finding trouble. Much like Rin, she never stays in the same place for long, and she is always willing to help someone in need.
Hiyori's voice is low and sweet, with a sort of infectious enthusiasm that bleeds into the people around her. It's raspy and she speaks with a crisp, resonant tone. She's brash, and so she doesn't think before she speaks, giving her a rather reckless approach to communicating.

"Dude, you look like a lost puppy. C'mon, talk to me, what's goin' through that head of yours?"
"I mean, I don't have a problem with it if you guys don't. What's the worst that can happen?"
"Oh--Yeah, give me a sec'. I just need to finish up these notes from Chemistry class, and... done! So, what's going on?"

Yuumei is an earnest, intelligent, and inquisitive young lady. But because she is always nose-deep in a book with her mind forever occupied, she can only be best described as someone perpetually out of the loop. Yuumei is constantly unaware of the world around her. On the rare occasion that she is aware of what's happening, she seemingly gets roped into shenanigans, either against her will or against her better judgement.
Yuumei's voice is very high-pitched, with a mousy quality about it. Very light and feathery with a distracted, confused tone. Her thoughts are almost always stuck in translation, so she normally speaks in fragments and incomplete sentences. Thanks to this, many people find her a bit odd.

"Maybe it could work if we... did we take it apart... Is that even..? No, that's not... Huh--what? What happened?"
"... You know about the birds, right? You know, the birds! They-- nevermind."
"...I can see it. Ok, but where is... hm."
