Ratter 2
Project Overview
I've always wished beat-em-ups had more to the gameplay than just button-mashing to beat the enemies up... but a little context for what this is.
Ratter, the first one, was a point-and-drag game on Scratch, with one goal: help Ricky get the cheddar. Straight forward, fun little game to play when bored in class. However, from the get-go, I wished there was more to this world than just Ricky in what's definitely not Fazbear's PIzzeria. That's where I had an idea... a 2D action platformer starring Ricky. with a UI reminiscent of street art as it would take place in the urban.
So I pursued and pursued developing it on Scratch, to no success. Scratch is simply way too limiting for what i'd like to do: so is the team consisting of one person.
That's where everyone else comes in. Have you wanted to work on an indie game, even if just for music? Ratter 2, as I've been calling it, would be a good fit for you. I want it to feel deliberately dated, like it released in the late 90s or early 2000s. I want it to look like a Genesis game. I will be making it in Godot, but right now I'm at a snail's pace, as all these assets need to be made.
When accepted, you will be sent an invite to a Discord server. There is no minimum or maximum amount of people needed, just enough to make something cool.
Let's get down to business: I'm looking for people who can make oldschool hip-hop, funk, just overall able to lay down a groove. I would argue the heart of this project is its music above all else, so it's important we have good music. But there's a catch... we're styling this after Genesis platformers, so expertise in that area will do best here. Breakbeat and big beat are also encouraged.
*Say something you think would fit*
What's needed from this role is solid level design, a game that's both platformer and beat-em-up. The game will be 2D, sprite-based, and set in mainly urban areas. Somewhere between Ninja Gaiden and Mario. Your audition should include a link to some of your past work.

Would you consider yourself decent at pixel art? Able to make things in the style of Sonic or Mario? We want you! Simply show off some of your work!
