INTRODUCTION
Hello, everyone! This casting call is for Poseidon: A Full-Feature voice-acting Machinima, from the same creator that brought you The Curse, Foxbury and Broken. This is the first VA machinima for the channel. The Mom Cave is a machinimator who produces cinematic stories utilizing The Sims 4, as well as producing two articles for Simmed Up Magazine, #machinimalife and Building a Better Life. I’m casting for voices to be used for this pilot project. Folks cast for main roles may be asked to provide lines for additional, smaller roles not featured on CCC. If you're not cast for a main role, and your voice matches the tone of the production, you may be asked to provide lines for supporting roles in the production.
All roles are in the English language.
All roles are voluntary and unpaid. However, full credit and showcasing will be given to all voice actors via multiple socials, such as Twitter, Instagram and within the video credits and description on YouTube.
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The project is a full-feature cinematic machinima. The setting is within a mythical time and place. However, modern language and vernacular (English) will be used. Poseidon is the King of The Oceans, whose daughter falls in love with a commoner (Kona). This rebellion against orders incites the fiery anger of Poseidon. Through the forbidden love, a child is produced. When Poseidon’s only daughter dies during childbirth, the king blames Kona for producing a cursed child, and sets out to kill them both.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is May 7, 2021. Voice actors who have been cast in roles will be notified by May 15 th and sent scripts by June 7, 2021. All lines back from voice actors will be due by June 28, 2021. If you would like to audition, and this timeline is challenging for you, leave me a note. I can be flexible.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
First and foremost, have fun -- The Mom Cave takes pride in bringing together talent to create something truly phenomenal, but none of it means anything if the people involved aren't passionate about their craft.
Please submit clean recordings on prosumer mics (no air conditioners in the background, no fans -- we don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice). And speaking of clean-up -- please let us handle the post-production. Don't add effects to your lines -- leave that to our audio geniuses :)
Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favorite takes. Three is the gold standard. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that's okay, too. However please at least remove the takes you don't want to be used.
You will submit your recordings as one .wav file per scene via email, which will be provided to you after casting. If a file is too large to submit via email, we prefer to use Dropbox, Google Drive or Discord.
We do occasionally ask for line re-dos, but we do this sparingly and only after great consideration - we realize your time is valuable, and we won't ask for anything we can't work around in edits.

Poseidon is a god-king who rules the oceans. He is harsh, powerful and intimidating. He would have a deep, powerful voice.
[Angry] You were with that commoner again, weren't you? You were ordered to stay away!
[Learning from another of the death of his daughter - more enraged than saddened] Kailani (pronounced kYE[like sky]-lani]) is my only daughter and and heir to rule these oceans. Kona and that cursed child are to blame, and they will pay.
[about to kill the one he has been after] You thought you could hide. Where is the cursed child?
Voice Actor
Kona is a kind, gentle commoner. He is a fisherman, who falls in love with Poseidon's daughter. His voice would have a calm tone.
(Slightly shy) I'm Kona. Kailani (pronounced kYE[like sky]-lani]) right?
(professing love) I know I'm not of noble blood, but I love you. I want to be with you Kailani (pronounced kYE[like sky]-lani]).
(grieved/devastated) Kailani (pronounced kYE[like sky]-lani]) (in a loud voice)! No! Don't leave me! (holding someone as they die)
Voice Actor
Kailani (pronounced kYE[like sky]-lani]) is a young, slightly naive only child of Poseidon. She fears her father, but finds her love for Kona (a commoner fisherman) is stronger.
[upset] But I love him Father! Please, don't do this!
[in love/slightly anxious tone] I want to be with you too Kona. We have to run away, get away from my father or he will kill us both.
[slightly shy] I've seen you around. It's good to finally meet you. I'm going to the royal pool if you would like to join me.
Voice Actor
Senara is a manipulative temptress who befriends Kailani to get to her father Poseidon. She eventually becomes Poseidon's mistress, and desires the power of Kailani as heir.
(talking to friend) But your father, what will he say if he finds out? He'll kill you both.
(passionate) I would do anything for you My Love, anything at all.
(slightly frantic) My Lord, it's Kailani (pronounced kYE[like sky]-lani]) she's dead. She gave birth to a son and now she's dead!
Voice Actor
Lehula is a long-lived islander. She is deeply rooted in the history and community of the islands. She has a strong connection to the island spirits, and calls upon them to help protect Akoni (the grandson of Poseidon).
(speaking calmly to child) The island ancients are more powerful than the evil king. They will protect us. They will guide us.
(whispering) Come here Child, you must be so cold.
(calling upon the island ancients) I call upon the ancients. Come to me for guidance and protection of this child.

Isabella is a kind islander and the daughter-in-law of Lehula (or GG).
(calm tone) Where did this child come from GG?
(frightened) But what if Poseidon comes for our family?
(comforting) It's ok Akoni. (pronounced aYkonee), It's going to be ok little one.
Voice Actor
Richard is the Chief of Police. He is a kind man, who takes pride in his family and in the community of the islands. He would have a deeper tone to his voice, is more calm and strong.
(Curious) The child was abandoned? What did the note say?
(Angry) He's nearby. We have to call upon the island ancients quick. He knows we have the child.
(Calm) This child, he will have the power of the god king. But we must teach him to be kind.
Voice Actor
Island ancients/spirits - Mysterious, calm tone.
Poseidon is after the child. He is on the hunt and is seeking to kill Akoni (pronounced aYkonee)
We will band together and form a powerful circle around Akoni and your family.
This child has been chosen to overtake Poseidon and his evil rule. When he comes of age, he will be given the knowledge he needs.
