Portal: Catalyst
Project Overview
Step into the Long-Fall Boots of Dr. Nick Ruthers and return to Aperture Science during the crossfire of Portal's ending. As you find yourself trapped within an Enrichment Center tearing itself apart, a power-vacuum opens when long-thought dead programs reignite. Will you rise over the reconstructing ruins, or fall victim to the ghosts of your past?
Portal: Catalyst is a fan-made mod project by B-Name Studios, a passionate group of Portal modders, aiming to tell an emotionally gripping & fresh narrative that pushes the long-established story tropes of many prior fan-projects to their logical limits, while also bridging the visual gap of the two mainline Portal games.

“THE EMPATHY CORE”. Designed to keep the rest of the crew emotionally in-check and helping personnel if the task at hand calls for it. He acts as an extra set of hands for the Recovery Crew, capable of doing any task and rapidly adapting to new situations, even if he can sometimes sustain a fright from sudden movements and noises.
This role is for a Personality Core character - one of three - named Crewe. He's a timid, empathetic sidekick character to the player, starting the story as someone who gets shoved around by their superiors in the Recovery Crew, only for them to grow and stand up for themselves as the plot goes on, leading to them becoming a stronger character. The Recovery Crew is a trio of Cores within Aperture Science who are the first of the 'Modern' Personality Cores, designed for maintenance and repairing critical infrastructure that would be dangerous for humans to be involved in.
Crewe is meant to sound approachable and young, with a hint of optimism and curiousity. However, Crewe's voice is not static, as he experiences majorly traumatic events not limited to witnessing an on-screen character death. Those taking on the role of this character need to understand beforehand that he will be receiving the brunt of the emotional scenes in this narrative, and thus his voice will change tone over the course of the adventure, culminating in him 'hardening up' as a character but never losing his approachability & companionship with the player.
We ask you don’t post-process or “roboticise” your voice - it should sound natural and we’d prefer to work with the raw audio for logistical purposes. You can feel free to perform post-processing on your audition if you'd like, but when working with us, we'd prefer the raw audio!

Let me get introductions out of the way. The name’s Crewe, and I’m part of the facility’s recovery operations to get things back on track. Part of that means helping you get out of the Enrichment Center, as being stuck in the middle of all of this would be real bad for both you and us. …We don’t need any more lawsuits. This whole situation is already shaping up to be a paperwork nightmare.
Come on, I have the proper credentials! Just accept them for once! Okay, maybe I am doing something wrong. Does this passkey work with the message board..? Yeah, that’s working fine. But if I try with the security system… There it is! “Access Denied” again! Why isn’t it letting me- Wait a second, I haven’t even tried to log in yet. Why would the system already be denying me? Unless… Have I been blacklisted? (Painful Groan) Well, that explains a lot.
You nearly got us killed from your incompetence, what more explaining is needed? How come everytime you try to execute one of your ideas it always backfires so damn hard? I might not be a genius myself, but at least the plans I come up with don’t get us killed in the process.
