Persona 5 Royal Voices Needed

Persona 5 Royal Voices Needed

Project Overview

Heyo! So I just had my first ever Persona experience, Persona 5 Royal, and am absolutely in love with the series now. As such, I want to begin production on a Persona 5 Royal script, and see where it goes from there. To that point I’ve opened up roles for all the phantom thieves, as well as the various confidants in the game (Yoshida the goat).

All videos made will be uploaded to the YouTube channel, https://youtube.com/@emeraldemuto?si=XJoLMoXA4g8m5xSs

Some basic rules for the project

  1. Good quality audio. Not asking for perfectly perfect industry pro audio or anything, but just decent quality, with as little background noise as possible.

  2. Workload will vary by script. I can’t make a 25 character script every time, so some voices will be used more than others.

  3. All communications will be through Discord

  4. Voice references have been provided for each character in their description, if you don’t know what they sound like

  5. The impression doesn’t have to be perfect, just something that fits the character well.

  6. Live session recordings are preferred, but not a requirement.

  7. Sample lines have been provided, but really send in any lines you want. They're just there in case you can’t come up with anything or prefer an example.

  8. If you have previous experience voicing these characters, feel free to send the previous audio files as an audition. And if you have clips of you voicing as that character in a video, feel free to send them to me.

  9. Up to 3 takes on each line, preferably not more than that.

Thanks for reading! Looking forward to hearing your audition!

Joker/Ren Amamiya

Role assigned to: Shay-Ki Fullalove

“As per tradition of the Megami Tensei franchise, he is a silent protagonist, whose personality is based on the player's actions and decisions. However, he appears to have more established traits than any of the previous protagonists. His dialogue options range from somewhat indifferent to outright cheeky. The game allows for quite a number of playful, snarky or audacious answers, including teasing his friends. He also taunts his enemies like the famed Arsen Lupin. In the prologue scene, he remains cocky and confident even when his life is in danger. He also has a flair for showing off and making dramatic decisions, such as exiting by jumping through the stained glass windows of the Casino, much to the amazement (and mild annoyance) of the other Phantom Thieves. This is even reflected in gameplay, as when he is turned into a mouse, he makes a flamboyant hop after escaping a battle.” - Persona 5 Wiki

Role assigned to: Gr33dy Jay

“Ryuji is known as a disruptive "problem student" at school whose bad behavior causes all sorts of trouble for the teachers. He is quite proud of his status as a self-proclaimed "troublemaker" and his rebellious, mischievous and disobedient nature are the perfect qualities to be a Phantom Thief. Ryuji has a strong sense of morality and lives by his beliefs of right and wrong, putting it on high priority. As such, he sees through people's attempts at excusing their actions with sympathy, and is the first to untie the twisted context of right and wrong, delivering a clear picture.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“Morgana has an arrogant, conceited personality, much to the annoyance of most other members of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. He is especially outspoken and can make fun of others, especially Ryuji and the protagonist. He can be rather demeaning towards the two, making fun of them and treating them both like little kids at times. Especially in combat, Morgana shows off and acts more masculine than he naturally is. He can also be very bossy, especially with the protagonist, usually telling him around, such as when he makes him clean his desk to teach him how to make infiltration tools.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“Ann is a very kind and compassionate girl, enough for it to be noted by both Morgana and Sojiro Sakura. Years of isolation due to her looks have left her very withdrawn, with the belief that she's lost her place in the world, but this hasn't stopped her from opening up to the people close to her and having fun. She's able to press on without caring about the opinions of others due to her friendship with Shiho Suzui, who was her first real friend in Japan before joining the Phantom Thieves. She is shown to be a good judge of character, as she was the first person able to look past the rumors of the protagonist and see him for who he really is.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“Despite appearing prim and proper on the surface, Makoto is actually more of a tomboy: she's trained in aikido, enjoys violent action movies, never wears skirts other than her school uniform (which she wears leggings under) and seems to care little about fashion other than the headband she wears in her hair. Makoto has a compliant temperament that she never breaks out of: she is a level-headed and kind person, almost to a motherly extent. That side of her would be highlighted when she'd help Futaba Sakura and at a few points Morgana. That being said, following her awakening that discipline would be self-asserted, and in turn she would be strict on others and have an unrestricted and violent way of expressing that. Aside from her athletic ways of fighting, in the English localization this branches out to her voice acting as well.” - Persona 5 Wiki

Role assigned to: mokaui

“With a case of social anxiety bordering on agoraphobia developed from the trauma of losing her mother Wakaba Isshiki, combined with her generally introverted personality, Futaba is strongly uncomfortable with going outside. When the protagonist first meets her, she is a shut-in who does not attend school and almost never leaves her room. Futaba begins to change after meeting the protagonist and the other Phantom Thieves, as she begins to practice opening up and challenging her own boundaries. Beneath her anxiety, Futaba has a childish side and enjoys teasing her friends, particularly Ryuji Sakamoto, Yusuke Kitagawa and Morgana, and occasionally Makoto Niijima and Sojiro Sakura as well. She often pokes fun at Yusuke by calling him "Inari," a word which means fox, but can mean tofu curd sushi due to tofu being offered near Inari Shrines. This forms a pun which implies that Yusuke is a degenerate. Futaba's social ineptness often causes her to be very blunt, to the point that she seems to have no concept of tactfulness.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“Haru is generally very shy and reserved. At school, she is viewed as eccentric due to her tendency to keep to herself and avoid contact with others as much as possible. She has serious trust issues, finding it difficult to differentiate between who truly values her as a friend, and who merely wants to use her for her family's status. This is due to her past, where not only friends, but adults and teachers would be kind to her just to please her father and smile at her for their own personal gain. Despite this, Haru is an incredibly kind-hearted girl.”

“In her spare time, she enjoys tending to her own garden, as well as growing vegetables on the roof of the school. Besides gardening, she also enjoys horror movies. Because of her gentle personality, she is often underestimated, even by her teammates, however she admits she feels excited when Shadows beg for their lives, that cutting down enemies as they approach is a thrill, and that she sees combat as a form of stress relief, hinting that she is somewhat sadistic. Also, after a battle, Haru may say something along the lines of, "Phew, I need more of that!" and despite saying that she gets nervous before combat, she always wants to do it again afterwards.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“He presents himself as having a strong sense of justice, disapproving of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts for their methods. He is candid in expressing his disagreement, but he wants to hear about other people's views in an honest fashion. This cheery disposition, however, is nothing short of a fraud that has been carefully crafted to grant him a public image and mask his real personality. Due to having been born an illegitimate child, he would be despised by others as he would be nothing more than a scandal for them, even ruining his mother's life and driving her to suicide. He would subsequently be placed into child institutions. Akechi grew up a lonely child and a "nobody" who yearned to be loved; this feeling persisted into his teenage years. The stigma of being an illegitimate child, while also heavily implied to be an impulsive mistake on Shido's part, has haunted Akechi and become the basis of his incredibly misanthropic worldview as well as his legitimate self-loathing. Regardless of how much Akechi tried to change, that hatred that bound him to his past would persist deeply.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“Sumi Yoshizawa is a cheerful, elegant and friendly person with a seemingly perfect life, as she received a Shujin scholarship and was (supposedly) nearly uncontested in gymnastic competitions. She also appears to be quite clumsy and careless, as she is shown outright missing the mark at the batting cages even if her reflexes are usually excellent, and she lets her phone's battery run out while texting the protagonist. Despite her supposedly cheerful and bold personality, she sometimes experiences bouts of depression for no apparent reason; usually if the protagonist meets with her, she will end up with a gloomy mood for the slightest of mistakes, regardless if said mistakes are real or perceived. When practicing gymnastics, she also often feels like her body isn't hers and she cannot execute complicated moves properly despite knowing how to perform them.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“Sojiro is cold and strict to the protagonist upon first meeting him, begrudgingly taking him in as a favor to a friend. Like many characters in the beginning of the story, he is cautious of him due to his probation, even stating that he will do very little if the protagonist gets himself into trouble and threatens to kick him out if he violates his probation. He is a rather cynical person, warning the protagonist that he should be careful who his friends are and chastising him for getting involved in the affairs of others, even if he was trying to do the right thing. However, as the protagonist continues to live with him, Sojiro slowly builds trust in him, allowing him to go outside at night, first around the area then anywhere around Tokyo and even beginning to teach him to make Leblanc's signature coffee and curry. He also begins to joke around with the protagonist more, seeing that the protagonist is not the delinquent that his probation makes him seem like.” - Persona 5 Wiki

“Sae is intelligent, professional and serious, although her actual maturity is debatable. A workaholic, Sae is very strict in both her work as prosecutor and guardian for her younger sister, Makoto, constantly telling her to focus on her studies and such. With many responsibilities, Sae is always working due to Japan's work pressure, and is very stressed and exhausted. She must care for Makoto, almost putting her in a single mother's role. Her father dying in the line of duty and forcing her to raise Makoto acts as her very sore spot. She resents Makoto, as the Niijima sisters’ father throwing his life away in the name of justice forced her to raise her sister alone. Because of her father's death, Sae views the concept of justice as meaningless. This has made her hyper-competitive and obsessed with getting ahead, to the point of telling Makoto that success is all that matters in life. This is to her detriment, as it results in many unjust prosecutions that she blatantly rigs in order to maintain the court's reputation, even if the people indicted by her are innocent.” - Persona 5 Wiki

However, when he took the position, he believed himself to be in the clear and lost sight of why he wanted to become one, eventually being shunned by most people due to his blunders and reputation. In the twenty years since he lost his position, Yoshida has considerably mellowed and realized his own mistakes, intending to return to the Diet through his own merit. Due to his devotion to politics, Yoshida is a skilled speaker and able to connect to the audience should they listen to them, something which gets the protagonist's attention. While he is occasionally dismayed at people calling him "No-Good Tora" or people intentionally trying to reveal his flaws, he remains calm and level-headed against such slanders.” - Persona 5 Wiki

This is for the most part accurate as her predictions have an uncanny ability to be properly divined down to the most minute details. However, her time with the ADP distorted her views to the point that she initially warns her clients of ill tidings that could not be changed unless they bought "Holy Stones" from her, piles of rock salt. While she knew the stones had no power, she chose to keep selling them so she could save others and not be viewed as a monster. Her time spent with the protagonist begins to change these feelings as he and the Phantom Thieves of Hearts alter the fates of many of her clients. She is initially frustrated and suspicious about this, but soon comes to realize that this implies a better world than she had thought. She has a tendency to lapse into her native rural accent if sufficiently upset or otherwise emotionally flustered.” - Persona 5 Wiki

Her reputation as "the Plague" has made her highly cynical and insecure, claiming that she's only good for making experimental drugs, even after being praised for curing a young girl.

Despite her dark sense of humor, Takemi is nevertheless a very kind and caring person, as one would expect from a doctor; although she gets annoyed at the protagonist for his attempted deception, she decides to make a deal with him afterwards, saying she'll give him medicines to recover his health. During conversations concerning the protagonists’ actions, Igor opts for rather cryptic comments that tend to foreshadow coming events and possibly the outcome of the story as a whole, regardless of whether or not those comments are at the time understood (which may be his intent). This suggests that Igor may have near-omniscience, though by his own admission, there are things that even he can't foresee.
