Project Overview

Greetings!


This is an open casting call for a little project me and a few others been working on, an abridged series based upon Persona 5: The Animation. Being a non-profit abridged adaptation, it will diverge from the serious tone of the anime for a more comedy-based approach. Alongside looking for voices to breathe life into these new interpretations of existing characters, I will also be looking for editors who can assist in bringing this project to life, as I myself am not that proficient within that field (I write and direct every episode alongside 2 others). Once you have been cast, I will DM you access to our Discord server, so you must have an account in order to participate. The script for Episode 1 is nearing completion and will most likely be ready once the time has come to finalize the cast.


Audition Rules:

  • For certain characters, we will specifically ask to diverge from the official/canon voice in favor of something else. Please take note of what characters this applies to and audition accordingly. 
  • As this is an abridged version of an existing property, the subject material will contain coarse language and innuendo. Then again, being that Persona 5 is known for its adult content, you probably already knew that. Regardless.
  • Make sure your audio equipment is of decent quality. 
  • You must be dedicated to the project, as it will most likely become long-term. Abridged works take time and effort, so you must be prepared for what lies ahead.
  • Make sure you have a Discord account so we may invite you to the crew server! This is where production on the project will take place, as well as where you will post your lines to us once you are cast. The server will also provide general updates on the project from the rest of the crew (writers and editors)
  • Once you are cast, be respectful to your fellow cast members. Self-explanatory. We want to make this a fun experience for all involved!

    Hello again!
    I am absolutely astounded by the amount of attention this casting call has gained over the past few weeks. We appreciate all of the auditions we have received, and we can't wait to get started on this project!

    We will be finalizing our cast within the next week. If you are still planning to audition, we encourage you to do so as soon as you possibly can. Once this abridged adaptation goes beyond the Kamoshida arc, we may open up another casting call for the remaining characters beyond that arc, depending on where we plan to take the series afterwards. Be on the lookout!

    I am incredibly humbled by those who chose to audition and give this project attention! Nice work to everyone who chose to participate!

    Because of the amount of roles we are providing, as well as the little free time my co-producers have over the next few weeks, we will most likely not finalize our cast before the May 18th deadline. We want to give everyone interested as many opportunities as possible and as much time as they need. Furthermore, if you know somebody who might be interested in Persona 5 (or abridged works/voice acing in general), I encourage you to spread the word about this project! A second-year at Shujin Academy, who is living on probation in Tokyo with a distant friend of their parents, Sojiro Sakura. In this portrayal, Ren is a cocky and arrogant blowhard both in and out of the Metaverse, too proud of himself and eternally jealous of Arsene for possessing the “real” talent based within him. We would like his voice to match that given to him by Xander Mobus in the titular video game, though other imaginings are also welcome if they fit the part.

He is more or less the same person as he is in actual canon, though in this portrayal, Ryuji possesses the voice of deceased professional wrestler “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Why? Yes. (Feel free to audition in his natural voice, though!)

Morgana is eager for any kind of approval and acknowledgement, and constantly brings attention to the fact he has amnesia for sympathy points. He’s also a tryhard edgelord akin to a mopey teenager.

For Morgana, any voice interpretation is welcome.

Her newfound passion for becoming an actress goes over her head as she now believes that her life is an actual show (a la Truman Show), remaining cold towards Ren due to his status as main character. Besides that, she otherwise retains her friendly and compassionate personality from her video game counterpart, but may just be a tad bit too open about her sexual prowess.

For Ann, we are looking for a voice that more or less matches her canonical voice, though other interpretations are welcome if they fit the general vibe of "peppy teenage girl" (higher pitched).

In this portrayal, Makoto is more aloof and oblivious to the culture and mannerisms teenagers her age are clustered in, similar to how she was before her Confidant arc. She’s essentially one of those Facebook Minion moms (and yes the last line here is indeed from one of those).

For Makoto, we are looking for voice talent that matches her soft-spoken yet easily-riled-up higher pitched voice, though other interpretations are welcome.

Otherwise, she retains her nice-girl facade.
