Paper Mario: The Rise of Voldemort Chapter 7 and 8 Casting Call

Project Overview

The final hour is at hand. Voldemort is finally ready to take over the world. The final act of Paper Mario: The Rise of Voldemort has begun with chapters 7 and 8.

TW: Strong language and adult jokes/references. It's nothing nsfw, but if you don't feel okay with swearing or anything like that, it's alright.

What started as an inside joke has now evolved into a full-blown audio drama! Paper Mario: The Rise of Voldemort is a crossover on cocaine that follows Mario going on a journey to take back the Mushroom Kingdom from the evil forces of the newly revived Lord Voldemort. The dark lord has teamed up with Bowser and is stealing the life essence of strong heroes known as "cores" to create an unstoppable fusion army. Mario sets out on a journey across the globe where he meets new friends, fights new enemies, and uncovers the mysteries of the cores.

Casting for Chapters 7 and 8 are now open! Before you audition, please heed the rules.

1. YOU MUST HAVE GOOD MIC QUALITY with LITTLE TO NO background noise.

2. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR DISCORD IN YOUR DESCRIPTION, AS THAT WILL BE OUR PRIMARY METHOD OF COMMUNICATION

3. In terms of takes, the minimum amount is three. Feel free to give different variations of the lines listed.

4. This project is a long term commitment. If casted, PLEASE BE TRANSPARENT about scheduling and deadlines in order for the project to run smoothly.

5. While some of the characters do have pre-established voices, THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO DO AN IMPRESSION. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO INTERPRET THESE ROLES TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY. We care more about ACTING than pitch perfect voice matching. If you can manage both, that's awesome! But we are mainly focused on performance.

With Sonic and Shadow gone, this pink hedgehog rose up to take their place in defending her home from evil. But would she be enough?

Personality:
Bold and fearless, Amy is a proactive go-getter that goes after what she wants and lets nothing get in her way. This proactive hedgehog has an affinity for tarot cards and fortune telling. Amy is very open and expressive about her feelings and emotions, always speaking her mind. Although she is feisty and quick to anger, Amy has a strong heart and empathy like no other.  Willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. She has a maternal protective side to her. If anyone tries to hurt her friends, they will face her wrath at the other end of her giant hammer.

Voice Direction:
Amy has a mid to high voice that is both peppy, cheerful, but also feisty and energetic. Something to capture her playful and protective personality. In terms of which of her previous voices from the games I had in mind, feel free to take influence from Jennifer Douillard, Lisa Ortiz or Cidny Robinson's take on the character or come up with your own take that fits her personality

  • Winter was one of these gems. There should be four more of them to take down before fighting Surge if my math is correct. Unless there’s a surprise fifth one, but hopefully there isn’t. Two of our scouts are out there investigating one of them now at Pumpkin Hill.

  • (Tenderly and comforting a scared soul) It’s ok now, you’re free. The nightmare is finally over. Rest easy. Shhh, everything’s going to be ok. You’re safe now. I’ll take good care of you.

  • (In battle, desperate after the enemy has powered up) There has to be some way to defeat this thing! We can’t let this be the end, not ever everything we fought for!

After the fall of Sonic at the hands of Voldemort. Tangle lost the love of her life, Whisper, to a horrific wolf-ink creature. Determined to get her back, Tangle joins Amy's group of survivors to try and overthrow Surge. However progress has been slow. That is until Mario and his friends arrive. 

Personality:
Tangle is a hyperactive, energetic, optimistic, and fearless Lemur. She is scrappy and not intimidated by danger in the slightest. She has a thirst for adventure and will walk into mortal peril with a massive grin on her face. However this makes her reckless. Tangle is loud, extroverted, but also friendly, polite, joyful, and open. Her girlfriend is Whisper the Wolf.

Voice Direction:
Her voice is up for interpretation. Tangle should have an energetic, dorky, and playful voice. Something that fits her fearless and scrappy nature.

Personality:
Espio is a calm and collected lizard trained in lethal ninja arts. He is very blunt and too the point. He's single minded and committed to his job. Espio is a practical, intelligent, militaristic chammelion with a strong sense of disapline. He exerts an aura of calmness. He is the straight-man of the Chaotix, often balancing out the antics of his coworkers. 

Voice Direction:
Espio has a deep and mature voice. Looking for a voice that can capture Espio's calm level headedness and strict mindset. Feel free to take influence from Bill Corkey, David Willis, Troy Baker, or Matthew Mercer's take on the character or come up with your own take.

Charmy is a young, naive, and hyperactive bee with almost unlimited energy. He is loud, talkative, and always in-your-face. His young, innocent mind leads him to be very trusting often to his own detriment. Despite his flaws, the kid's got a good heart and is willing to hold his own for the greater good.

Jet is a cocky, arrogant, scheming prankster who's always up to no good. A mischievous con artist always looking for ways to make a quick buck. However, under all those feathers lies a sad soul that just wants to be a part of something bigger.

Jet has a shrill, nasally, loud, parrot like voice. It is very bird-like and super annoying. Feel free to take influence from either Jason Griffith or Micheal Yurchak's take on the character

She is a firm leader with a strong sense of justice and a warm heart. She loves her people and strives to do the best she can for them. Sally is caring and shows passion, bravery, and determination. Undeterred b any setbacks. She is willing to keep her friends happy and safe at all cost. She can be overprotective and sardonic at times.

Sally's voice is up for interpretation. Something that suits a strong minded, fearless, logical, tomboyish yet kind and headstrong princess.

All of the joy, happiness, and life gone. I watched as the rest of the Freedom Fighters lost themselves to the ink. It was terrible. I’ve lost Sonic, I’ve lost the Freedom Fighters. I refuse to lose anyone else!

Jonathan Craine has broken free from the Asylum for like the 30th time. Voldemort took interest in his trademark fear toxin and enlisted him for his cause. While he doesn't understand the details, Scarecrow did not pass down the opportunity to spread more fear. His first assignment was to travel to an abandoned kingdom to collect the core of the once magnificent king who ruled to use it to make his hallucinations real. But that alone wasn't enough, he then acquired the core of the phantom jackal and fused it with the kings to create the Phantasm Opal, a gem that makes ones worst fears a reality. This power attracted the attention of Surge, who injected Scarecrow with the ink to increase the Opal's effects. Now this lanky man stalks Pumpkin Hill, searching for unsuspecting victims to torment

Personality:
Scarecrow is a sadistic, cunning, and evil man who takes great pleasure of seeing others wriggle in fear. Heis an overly-obsessive and deranged ex-professor of psychology who specializes in using the fear and phobias of his adversaries against them via the use of his signature fear toxins. He takes almost comedic like pleasure seeing his enemies in fear. His goal is never to kill his opponents, but to satisfy his psychopathic desires to see the effects of fear in others.

Voice Direction:
Scarecrow has a mid to low whispery yet raspy voice. Something that isn't too over the top, but fear inducing. Feel free to use any of his previous voices as reference to get an understanding of how he sounds. But feel free to interpret the role however you see fit.

  • Everything you see, is as real as I want it to be. All thanks to this. The Phantasm Opal. A rainbow gem forged with two cores. One belonging to the phantom jackal with infinite potential. He looks after his metallic family and should you cross him. He will have you sleeping with the fishes.

Personality:
This time around, Freddy is a cunning, complex, articulate, and somewhat perverted animatronic. He acts and operates like a traditional Italian Mob Boss. He is well spoken and for the most part, operates with such a calm demeanor it's scary. 

Voice Direction:
Freddy's voice should be low, calm, and with a Silicon Accent. Kind of like Don Vio Corleone from The Godfather. There is a scene where he speaks Italian.

To another, beauty is the sun going down over a purple sea. And another may look at a rotting corpse and say that it is beautiful. Beauty, like all things, is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Ah, it’s you. Mario. The scum who nixed Nightmare Fredbear and Nightmarrione. Those two, they were like family to me. A family of endoskeletons and wires born from the ashes of tragedy and bloodshed. And you went and wiped them out, like they were nothing but ordinary Goombas under your boot. And now you have the audacity to set your goomba-stomping boots on my territory. Waltzing around like you own the place. Trying to shut down the Seekers. You disrespect me, you disrespect Nightmarrione and Nightmare Fredbear, who’s parts I buried under the grounds of this pizzeria.

  • (His dying breath) Alas, not even I am aware. All I know is that if you shut down the chemical plant, you can permanently stop the production of the ink. That is all I can say, as my time on this cursed planet has ended…(cough)...addio, amici miei. Che Dio ci mostri misericordia nel Regno dei Cieli

Winter is a cunning, beauty obsessed, and vain cyborg monster fueled by ink. She talks down to her opponents like they are children and sees herself as a sort of deity in a mortal world. That pride and vanity will be her downfall.

An arrogant, prideful, vain, voice befitting of this wolf with a god-complex.

Personality:
Lemmy is living in his own little world. He is hyperactive, energetic, and doesn't care about the rules of reality. Lemmy does what he wants and nobody can stop him. He is a little scamp and a trickster. He has a thespian side to him where he loves putting on a show for the crowd.

Whisper is a mysterious wolf marksmen with a heavy past aided by her own personal team of wisps. She is the girlfriend of Tangle the Lemur, having been taken by Lord Voldemort. She returns in the epilogue with a few quick lines.

Personality:
Whisper is a rather mysterious individual with a quiet and withdrawn personality. Very soft-spoken, she speaks only when the situation calls for it and, true to her name, in a very low volume, rarely uttering more than a few words at a time. As a result of her past, she has been more shy, cautious and distrustful of others, preferring to be out of the spotlight and in hiding. She also values her personal space and limited her interactions with others, fearing that if she made new friends, she could not handle losing them too.

Voice Direction:
Open to any form of voice for her. Whisper has a quiet, reserved, and as the name implies "Whispery" voice.
