Project Overview
Oyasumi Punpun is about the life of a small duck-like creature named Punpun, as he learns about life, death, and his own experiences in the insane concept of life.
We are a team of manga duber's that are looking for some outside talent for this project. While we have some experience, (The Akira Experience), we are still relatively new to the game so to speak. So while we do know what we're doing to an extent, there's likely to be some bumps in the road here and there. But we are all focused and capable of cooperation to work around these issues.
The dub will be posted on Youtube, on an official page created for displaying our various dubbed works.
Rules for VA applicants to consider
1. Please have a decent mic with little background noise, pops, or fuzz.
2. Please stay committed to the project once signed on. We hate recasting due to people losing interest or for whatever other reason there may be.
3. Be willing to submit multiple applications. To expand on this; I may like your potential to a performance, but not necessarily the one you gave. I may ask you to tweak things here and there to see if you are capable of achieving what we are striving for, before casting you and crossing our fingers.
4. Be willing to have fun.
5. Read all the rules.
6. Have Discord for easy communication between everyone involved.
7. Good job you followed rule 5.

Punpun is a the nonvocal lead of this manga series. He simply makes noises, while the narrator "speaks his lines". However the noises Punpun makes are crucial. They should sound somewhat cartoonish, but small and gentle. This is a really difficult one to nail, because there's not really much I can say to you that could describe what we're looking for. But we will know it when we see it.

The Narrator is critically important to the delivery of the story. Not only does it give important detail to the people around Punpun and the actions he does, but acts as his voice and mind as well. They should always sound very calm and content. Almost apathetic but not close enough to quite graze it. Another very difficult part to get correctly.
"The policemen asked him many questions over and over, until it was evening."
"Punpun was just about too depressed to go to school that day."
"Punpun actually wanted to be a baseball player when he grew up. He had never played baseball before, but he knew how much his dad liked watching baseball on TV. Sometimes he would wonder to himself; is this the same as "wanting" to do something?"

Punpun's dad. He turns down a work transfer due to family reasons but gets fired from work as a result. He is unable to find a job since then.
After the divorce, he goes to his hometown Kagoshima and starts working as the night guard at a hydro plant. He sends letters to Punpun every month.

The teacher is a strong symbol of authority throughout the series, and his overbearingly happy demeanor is a commentary on those figures of authority within society.

A runaway child who misunderstood freedom.
Masumi Seki is one of Punpun's childhood friends and is best friends with Shimizu. He has a rough personality and usually has a cool, indifferent expression even when upset. There is a permanent scar above the tip of his nose that is covered by a band-aid for most of elementary school. His family owns Seki Lunches, which used to do business with the now-abandoned miso factory.
Easily the most mature of all of Punpun's friends. He was forced to grow up quickly, far too fast than most kids should. While still sounding like a kid physically, his words shouldn't sound like they're coming from a kid. Mentally he is far older.
"...Wondering what would happen if I beat the crap out of a worthless drunk." [apathetic guise] [dark] [repressed anger]
