Project Overview
Quick note before information!
We will be reffering to the time zone off CEST the one available in Sweden where our amll Youtube team is located.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Please read these before submitting an audition.
Acting and performance
You must be able to perform in English and deliver dialogue naturally.
You should be comfortable acting through a webcam, as much of the series takes place in Discord calls.
You must be able to convey emotions through facial expressions, eye contact, pauses, vocal delivery, and subtle changes in behaviour.
You should be willing to perform multiple emotional styles, including comedy, romance, suspicion, fear, anger, sadness, and psychological tension.
You should be able to follow direction, accept constructive feedback, and perform additional takes when needed.
You must be reliable with communication, deadlines, and agreed recording sessions.
You do not need professional equipment or professional acting experience to audition. Clear audio, understandable dialogue, and a quiet recording environment are more important than an expensive setup.
Recording and technical requirements
A working microphone with clear, intelligible audio.
A webcam or camera capable of recording a clear image of your face.
A reasonably quiet recording environment with minimal background noise.
The ability to record and submit video/audio files digitally.
Access to Discord for communication and, if selected, rehearsals and production.
A willingness to record separate takes or repeat scenes when necessary.
The final production will imitate computer screens and online calls. Actors may be asked to record webcam footage and audio separately so the footage can be edited into Discord interfaces, messages, and other screenlife elements.
WHAT YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH
OFFLINE contains mature emotional themes and psychological horror. Please audition only if you are comfortable performing the material relevant to your chosen role.
The following may be required:
Romantic dialogue, flirting, affectionate conversations, and believable on-screen chemistry.
Playing a character who is emotionally vulnerable, frightened, suspicious, or distressed.
Arguments, shouting, crying, emotional breakdowns, and tense confrontations.
Horror scenes involving threats, disturbing messages, stalking, manipulation, and the fear of being watched.
Portraying a character who disappears, is threatened, or is implied to have been harmed or killed.
Playing morally disturbing behaviour, psychological manipulation, or an antagonist’s unsettling emotional detachment.
Recording scenes in which your character appears to be alone, speaks to an empty call, or reacts to events that will be added during editing.
Re-recording dialogue and adjusting performances to maintain continuity.
Romantic content: Some scenes include flirtation, romantic tension, affectionate dialogue, and implied intimacy. The characters are adults, but the series does not require explicit sexual content, nudity, or real intimate acts. Any romantic physical interaction, if included at all, will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
Horror content: The series may depict fictional kidnapping, implied violence, captivity, disturbing recordings, and death. These events are performed or suggested through acting, dialogue, and editing; actors will not be expected to experience actual harm.
You are always welcome to communicate your boundaries before accepting a role. Please be honest about what you are and are not comfortable performing. No one should feel pressured to agree to material they did not consent to.
AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS
To audition, please submit:
Your chosen character. You may audition for more than one role if you feel suited to them.
Your three audition lines. Perform all three lines for your chosen character, using the emotional direction provided. You may submit them as one recording or separate takes.
A short introduction. Tell us your preferred name, your time zone, and any acting or voice-over experience you have. Experience is optional.
Your availability. Let us know whether you can participate in an online production and communicate through Discord.
Optional acting sample. If you have previous acting work or another sample that demonstrates your range, feel free to include it.
Please record somewhere quiet and ensure your dialogue is easy to hear. You do not need to add music, visual effects, filters, or professional editing. We want to see your acting, not your editing skills.
For the audition, focus on making the character feel real rather than trying to make every line dramatic. Natural reactions, believable pauses, and subtle emotion are often more effective than exaggerated performances.
FINAL NOTE
OFFLINE is a collaborative independent project, and casting is about finding people who fit the characters and can work well together. We are looking for commitment, creativity, communication, and a genuine interest in helping bring this story to life.
If you love character-driven horror, mysteries, emotional storytelling, or screenlife films, we would love to see your audition.
The screens are waiting. The calls are opening. And someone is always watching.
Welcome to OFFLINE.
The playful romantic who slowly loses himself.
Noah is confident, cheeky, funny, and sometimes a little too impulsive. He has feelings for Mia and enjoys teasing her, but beneath his playful personality is someone who genuinely wants to be loved and understood.
When the group begins falling apart, Noah becomes determined to uncover the truth. His desperation gradually turns into anger and obsession, threatening to damage the very relationships he is trying to protect.
What we’re looking for: An actor who can deliver natural humour and romantic chemistry, then convincingly transition into fear, anger, desperation, and emotional vulnerability.
- male adult
- male teen
Playful / Flirtatious: “You know, for someone who claims I’m annoying, you spend a suspicious amount of time talking to me.”
Angry / Desperate: “Stop telling me to calm down! One of our friends is missing, another person is lying to our faces, and you’re all acting like I’m the problem!”
. Heartbroken / Vulnerable: “I don’t need you to believe every word I say. I just need you to believe that I’m trying to save them.”
The witty romantic caught between love and loyalty.
Mia is clever, teasing, flirtatious, and emotionally guarded. She and Noah have undeniable chemistry, but letting someone get close to her is more difficult than she likes to admit.
As the situation becomes increasingly dangerous, Mia is forced to decide whom she can trust. She loves Noah, but she also cares about the rest of the group and doesn’t want suspicion to destroy everything they have built together.
What we’re looking for: An actor with strong naturalistic delivery who can balance playful flirting with genuine emotional depth, conflicted loyalties, and intense heartbreak.
- female adult
- female teen
Teasing / Flirtatious: “Oh, so now you’re charming? Interesting. Should I be impressed, or are you just trying to get me to fall for you?”
Suspicious / Confrontational: “Noah, I love you. But loving you doesn’t mean I can blindly believe everything you say. Give me a reason to trust you.”
Heartbroken / Vulnerable: “I want to stand beside you. God, Noah, I want that more than anything. But I’m terrified that if I do, we’re going to lose everyone.”
The devoted girlfriend who wants to believe in the person she loves.
Caroline is affectionate, kind, introverted, and deeply loyal. She loves Gregory and believes their relationship is genuine. She isn’t stupid or incapable of noticing problems; she simply has a great deal invested in the person she thinks she knows.
As doubts emerge, Caroline struggles between the evidence in front of her and the memories, affection, and trust she has built her relationship upon.
Her storyline is tragic, intimate, and emotionally demanding.
What we’re looking for: An actor who can portray warmth and tenderness naturally, while also conveying doubt, fear, grief, and the painful process of questioning someone you love.
- female adult
- female teen
Affectionate / Romantic: “You know what I love about us? I never feel like I have to be interesting around you. I can sit here doing absolutely nothing, and somehow that’s still my favourite part of the day.”
Defensive / Uncertain: “You think I haven’t noticed that something’s wrong? Of course I have! But there’s a difference between knowing someone is acting strangely and deciding that they’re capable of something horrible.”
Devastated / Resolute: “I wanted to believe that there was still something good in you. Maybe that was my mistake. But I’m not going to let the people I love pay for it.”
The funny friend who discovers how much he has to lose.
Peter is sarcastic, talkative, and often the source of comic relief. He has spent so much time being treated as the group’s single, joking friend that he sometimes struggles to express his more vulnerable side.
His growing connection with Veronica gives him something real to hope for. When she disappears, that hope turns into fear, grief, and an overwhelming need to find answers.
Peter can be impulsive and stubborn, especially when someone he cares about is in danger.
What we’re looking for: An actor with good comedic timing who can also deliver convincing emotional breakdowns, anger, and vulnerable conversations without losing the character’s natural personality.
- male teen
- male adult
Sarcastic / Comedic: “Fantastic. Another group call where everyone talks over each other, nobody solves anything, and somehow I’m still the most emotionally stable person here.”
Vulnerable / Romantic: “I know we joke about me being single all the time. But talking to you is the first time in a long time I’ve actually looked forward to tomorrow.”
Angry / Grieving: “We had plans. Actual plans. She was supposed to be here, and I was supposed to see her on Saturday. So don’t tell me to be patient. Don’t tell me to wait. Just help me find her!”
The sarcastic outsider who finally lets someone get close.
Veronica is independent, sharp-tongued, observant, and not particularly interested in pretending to be someone she isn’t. She enjoys teasing Peter, but beneath her sarcasm is someone who has become more comfortable keeping people at a distance than risking disappointment.
Her developing relationship with Peter allows the audience to see a softer side of her. That vulnerability makes her storyline especially important to the emotional foundation of the series.
What we’re looking for: An actor who can deliver dry humour and sharp dialogue while making quieter, more vulnerable moments feel sincere. The character should never feel like she exists only to be a victim.
- female teen
- female adult
Sarcastic / Teasing: “Peter, if confidence were a substitute for intelligence, you’d be the smartest person I’ve ever met.”
Gentle / Vulnerable: “I don’t usually tell people this stuff. It’s easier to make a joke and move on. But with you, I don’t feel like I have to do that.”
Frightened / Trying to Stay Calm: “Someone sent me a video. It was taken inside my bedroom, Peter. I checked the door, the windows, everything. I don’t know how they got in.”
The outsider who notices what everyone else misses.
Jessica is less closely connected to the original friend group. She is observant, intelligent, and initially unsure of her place among them. Because she doesn’t have the same history with everyone, she can sometimes recognize patterns that the others overlook.
However, she is also vulnerable to the group’s internal conflicts. Noah’s increasing desperation leads him to treat her unfairly, and Jessica must decide how much trust she can continue to place in him.
She becomes an important part of the investigation and the emotional consequences of the story.
What we’re looking for: An actor who can portray quiet observation, uncertainty, determination, fear, and hurt. Jessica should feel like a real person trying to navigate a group that existed long before she arrived
- female teen
- female adult
Awkward / Dry Humour: “Just checking: is every conversation in this group supposed to feel like I’m accidentally attending a very complicated divorce?”
Hurt / Angry: “I’m trying to help you, Noah! But every time I say something you don’t like, you look at me as if I’m the reason Mia isn’t standing beside you.”
Determined / Suspicious: “I don’t know Gregory as well as you do. Maybe that’s why I can see it. Everyone keeps explaining away his behaviour, but nobody has explained why he always seems to know more than he should.”
The charming friend hiding something monstrous.
Gregory is funny, composed, intelligent, and seemingly dependable. He has been part of the friend group for years and is in a relationship with Caroline. He knows how to make people laugh, how to calm arguments, and how to make others feel understood.
But there is something profoundly wrong beneath that familiar personality.
Gregory has learned to imitate emotions and relationships without experiencing them as others do. As the story progresses, his carefully maintained persona begins to crack, revealing someone calculating, manipulative, and frighteningly calm.
What we’re looking for: An actor capable of playing two sides of the same character: an entirely believable, likeable friend and a deeply unsettling antagonist. Subtlety is essential. The most disturbing performances will not rely on constant evil laughter, exaggerated facial expressions, or obvious villain behaviour.
- male teen
- male adult
Friendly / Humorous: “Guys, can we please have one normal evening? Just one. No arguments, no conspiracy theories, and absolutely no one accusing me of anything before I’ve finished my drink.”
Calm / Manipulative: “You keep asking me what happened, Noah. But every time I give you an answer, you decide it isn’t the one you wanted. So tell me—what exactly would convince you?”
Emotionless / Menacing: “You keep looking at me as if there’s something hiding behind my face. There isn’t. This is me. The only difference is that I have finally stopped pretending for your sake.”
