Nightstar Gambit
Project Overview
Nightstar Gambit is an indie arcade space roguelike styled like an anime comedy, heading for a commercial release on Steam. You're the captain of an absurdly over-built flagship flying straight at the enemy homeworld, crewed by anime prima donnas who are each an affectionate spoof of a famous anime type. Story scenes play line by line with character portraits and subtitles. The captain is never voiced.
I'm casting the first two crew members players meet. They're lifelong rivals who share most of their scenes, so the two voices need to be easy to tell apart. You're welcome to audition for one or both, but I'm casting two different actors.
Tone. Comedy first, sincerity as seasoning. Think of a fan-favorite anime comedy dub: big, committed, character-first performances. Play every bit completely straight; the character never knows they're funny. Each character gets about one quiet, honest moment per story. When the script calls for it, drop the bit, play it real, then snap back.
Line delivery. The player clicks to advance, so every line has to stand on its own, with a clean start and a clean end.
About the project. The crew is built on classic anime archetypes, mostly the "-dere" types (tsundere, yandere, kuudere, etc.). Each crew member has their own story, and group stories are planned. After these two, there are about 20 more crew roles to cast, plus smaller parts. Both roles here return in future stories, and you'd get first refusal on those lines at the same rate.
Working with me. I'm a solo developer. Each role comes with a voice package: character brief and direction, the full script with context for every line, file names and technical specs. You'll mostly be directing yourself from that brief, and I'm happy to answer questions anytime. Anime fans are a plus.
Script changes are welcome. If a line would work better another way, tell me before your session. The words also appear on screen as subtitles, so always record the line as written, and add your version as an alternate take. I'll pick one and update the subtitle to match.
Your recordings are used only in the game and its marketing, and will never be used to train or generate AI voices.

AKANE TSURUGI, Archetype: Tsundere Role: gunnery officer and fighter ace (female, adult, Main Cast)
The proud ace who insists she doesn't care and cares enormously. She's the first crew member every player meets. Think of Evangelion's hot-headed red ace pilot, Toradora's short fuse, and a Kaguya-sama rival who'd rather die than confess first.
Voice: mid-range, bright, clipped, confident to the point of bossy. She speeds up and pitches up when flustered, then over-corrects into flat and formal. Akane runs hot. She's defensive, never mean.

About 60 short lines, roughly 6 minutes of finished audio

Delivery: within [7 / 10] days of booking. WAV, 48 kHz, 24-bit, mono, unprocessed, one file per line. The full script, direction notes, file names and specs come as a package when you're booked.
One round of fixes included. Script changes after recording are paid per line.
Both characters return in future stories, and you'd get first refusal on those lines at the same rate.
Credit under your chosen name in the game's credits
Usage: the game, its updates and DLC, trailers, the store page and marketing. Your recordings will never be used to train or generate AI voices.
Non-union. Lots of comedic shouting, so pace yourself.
Anime fans are a plus and the script has room for adjustments if the VA feels a line could be better with modifications. please confirm edits or alternatives before using them in the delivered lines

(Reporting to the captain for the first time. Very proud, and nobody asked.) "Akane Tsurugi, reporting for gunnery. I graduated top of my class and I hold the academy intercept record. I'm telling you now so you don't have to ask. And don't read anything into that!"
(Asked why she chose this ship. Shouting, then instantly mortified.) "Because it has the biggest gun in the fleet, obviously! Are you an idiot, Captain?!" ... "That was out of line. I apologize. You're still wrong, though.
(Quiet and sincere, a little embarrassed to be saying it at all.) "She's the only person who ever raced me honest, Captain. I never knew what I was to anyone who wasn't trying to beat me."

KAEDE SHIRATORI, Archetype: Tsundere Role: second gunner and mecha pilot (female, adult, Main Cast)
Akane's rival since before the academy. Composed and precise until someone is nice to her, then she detonates. She secretly adores a robot cartoon called STARBLADE GANRYUU and gets touchy about the word "second". Think of Shakugan no Shana's "shut up, shut up, shut up" and melon bread, Zero no Tsukaima's "purely professional" mage, and Oreimo's ice queen with a secret otaku stash.
Voice: a little cooler and more precise than Akane. Crisp consonants and a reading-the-report cadence, then a sudden spike to full volume. Kaede runs cold until she boils over.

(Her transfer file lists her as "second gunner". Cold and exact.) "Strike that word from my file. I'm Kaede Shiratori, I outscored Tsurugi four semesters out of seven, and I am nobody's second anything."
(Gushing about her favorite robot cartoon, then catching herself with a gasp.) "Episode twenty-six. Obviously. The Ganryuu takes the hit for the whole fleet and the theme plays backwards over the..." (gasp) "I didn't say that. You didn't hear that. Neither of us was here."
(Offered the top gunnery seat. Losing the fight to stay composed.) "F-first chair?! That's a completely professional offer, and I accept it completely professionally! Shut up! Don't look at me!"
