Mono No Aware - Animated Short Film
Project Overview
Mono No Aware – Short Film Description
Mono No Aware is an intimate animated short film about a young girl who lives alone inside a handmade box fort. A tiny world she’s built to feel free. As the story unfolds, she begins to realize that she can’t stay in this fragile sanctuary forever. The film follows her emotional journey as she confronts the fear of leaving what’s familiar and faces the truth that growing up sometimes means stepping out of the spaces, we create to protect ourselves.
It’s a gentle, atmospheric story about impermanence, childhood resilience, and the bittersweet beauty of letting go.
This project is being developed as a way to demonstrate animated film related skills and build a strong, industry ready portfolio. showcasing of my abilities in storytelling, visual development, and animation production. By creating a complete short film, I’m aiming to highlight both creative and technical competencies while collaborating with other artists who are also growing their craft. The project is structured to provide real, hands‑on experience that can support future opportunities in the animation and film industry.
A young girl of about ten, she is energetic and imaginative, she approaches the world with a sense of wonder that fuels her curiosity and creativity. Her days are spent in a cardboard fort she made by hand and a stuff animal she carries around.

As a 3D Animator on this project, you will help bring characters to life through expressive movement, clear acting choices, and consistent visual quality. You’ll be working alongside other animators who have already established the project’s animation style, pacing, and quality benchmarks, so you should feel confident matching the standard that’s been set.
Applicants must provide a demo reel showcasing their animation ability. Student or amateur reels are perfectly acceptable as long as they demonstrate solid fundamentals—such as timing, posing, weight, and character performance.
You should be comfortable:
Following the project’s existing animation style
Meeting reasonable deadlines
Receiving and applying feedback
Collaborating with a small team of fellow animators
This role is ideal for college‑level animators or early‑career artists looking to gain experience, contribute to a meaningful project, and build portfolio‑ready work.
